Chapter 19:

It had passed an hour and Jack still hadn’t gone home, Martha was still working on her shift, Alf had gone home because he was feeling sick so Martha had to stay longer she wasn’t about to argue with her granddad, she was actually the one that sent him home, she didn’t want him working when he was sick.

She didn’t know why Jack was still there, he made it clear he didn’t want to talk to her and he kept ignoring her, yet he just sat there occasionally looking at her, not that Martha minded even if they weren’t on speaking terms, she was glad he was there.

She just wanted to get passed, this phase, she understood that she had hurt him, maybe she had done the wrong thing by getting with him, but she did love him and it had felt right at the time, and now all it has caused is more drama for both of them.

Jack was still sitting down, Ashley had come in for a couple of minutes to talk to him, Martha just hated seeing them together but she could see Jack didn’t mind her being around him. One good thing came out of it was that she got to see Jack smile, even if it was to Ashley, she was just glad to see it, his smile always got to her.

Martha wasn’t about to give up, she was going to try and be friends with him, even if he was angry and probably didn’t want anything to do with her she was going to try her best.

“You can stop looking at him now” someone whispered from behind her, grabbing her attention. Martha turned around to see Ric standing there; she smiled to herself and hugged him.

“For your information I wasn’t looking at him, there are plenty of other guys around here, he’s not the only one” Martha replied with confidence.

“What, like that old guy over there, I’m, sure you probably think he’s hot” Ric joked. Martha laughed at him before giving him a playful slap on the arm. “Let me guess you already know” Martha added.

“Not just me, the whole town, maybe that had something to do with the fact that Colleen had overheard you talking about it” Ric laughed, he didn’t know what this town would do without Colleen, she seemed to know what everyone was doing and saying.

“Ah, isn’t that great so the whole town thinks I’m a bitch who left Jack for no reason” Martha replied sarcastically.

“I don’t” Ric told her. “I’m pretty sure the rest of them don’t think that” Ric informed her.

“Thanks” Martha smiled at him. “Jack’s still angry at me and nothing I do will change that, he thinks I broke up with him because I felt like it, because I liked to hurt him” Martha told Ric.

“But you didn’t” Ric told her.

“Yeah I know, I just wish Jack could see it, you know I can’t even stand to see Ashley around him, every time she laughs or smiles at him I can’t help but think what might happen between them and when I try to talk to Jack he just ignores me and pretends I don’t exist” Martha sighed.

“Well go talk to him now” Ric told her, looking over at Jack.

“No way I have already tried that it doesn’t work” Martha replied.

“Well try again” Ric said pushing her in the direction. Martha thought about it for a second, and then walked over she had nothing to loose.

“Hey” Martha said taking a seat next to him; she watched as he took a look at her ad the quickly looked away.

“Don’t you have a job to do” Jack informed her.

“Well I do, but there is not much customers so I thought I would come over and talk to you, if you have no problem with that” Martha said smiling at him.

There was an awkward silence between them, Jack couldn’t believe that Martha wouldn’t actually give up, normally Jack would be the one begging for them to stay civil to each other, but this time it was different

“So how’s the beer?” Martha asked breaking the awkward silence.

“Martha it’s beer, it’s always good” he smiled at her. Martha smiled back it actually felt nice seeing him smile at her, she could herself getting attached to him, this was not happening, she was going to stay friends, but that smile made it so damn hard.

“I’m sorry” Martha began turning the conversation serious. She watched as Jack stood up getting ready to leave, he obviously didn’t want to talk about it, but Martha grabbed him by the hand and pulled him down

Jack didn’t look at her, he didn’t want to talk about this but Martha wouldn’t just give up.

“I don’t like how it ended between us” Martha starting to speak realizing he wasn’t going to say anything.

“Nothing ended, it wasn’t real, it was like 3 or 4 days, that’s not a relationship” Jack told her, he knew he was being harsh but he couldn’t help it. “It was like getting my hopes up and then crushing them” he added.

Martha didn’t know what to say in return he was right, they had gone out for a couple of days and she knew how much Jack liked her but yet she still chose to hurt him.

“I’m sorry” she repeated herself.

”Yeah ok” Jack replied unsure of what to say.

“I know you probably don’t want to see me or be anywhere near me, but I still want us to be friends like we were before “she answered. Jack just nodded in response, they were never really friends, Jack had been in love with her since the day he met her.

“Well I’ll see you around then” Martha said as she stood up, putting her hand on his shoulder, she smiled down at him. Jack forced a smile back as he watched her walk away, it was worse than before, he knew somewhere among all that anger he wanted her back, but to him it seemed like she wanted nothing but to be friends.

Awww. Well atleast there kind of getting somewhere, thats a start atleast!

I cant see how their ever going to get back to where they were before though! Its all just too complicated. Martha still doesnt even trust Jack and Jack's still angry at Martha for hurting him! This is not a good situation.

Maybe the only way Martha will realise her trust for him is for him to save her life or something! Martha could have a near death experience and then SuperJack can come and save her!

Aww I liked that chapter.

I think that Martha should tell Jack that she doesn't trust him but she still loves him, and then she can slap Ashley, and then Jack could yell at her, and then in the heat of the argument they kiss. And they realise that they do love and trust each other
