Jacksthehottest Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 Okay! I’ve put this off too much, I think its time to update. I forced myself to write this chapter. I want to get to a certain point in the fic and write, but right now I have no motivation lol. And also I’ve been busy. So this chapter is just……bad. Nothing really going on here. Chapter 20: A week had passed since all the drama and things had changed for the better. Her and Jack were talking, well he was being civil to her, anything which involved them to communicating Martha was happy with. She hated it when they ignored each other because she would see him on most days and it would juts be awkward. She was even being more social and to her surprise she was actually being nice to Ashley. Martha tried to avoid her when she could, but that wasn’t very often. Ashley acted all nice towards her and Martha wondered if it was just an act. Maybe Ashley was actually a nice person. Now that she was staying in town, she was mostly around Tash and Martha knew there was no way she was going to stay away from Tash, she needed someone like that to talk to everyday and if Ashley was her friend Martha was going to make an effort to be nice. She had seen Ashley and Jack together a couple of times. She didn’t want to look every time but couldn’t help it, she wanted to know if anything was going in. If she was going to admit it, she was kind of jealous Jack was paying more attention to Ashley, he would laugh with her and hang out with her and Martha was just the ex- girlfriend. She never thought after what her and Jack had been through that they would end up like this, they had been such good friends and now they were just on speaking terms. She didn’t even remember that last time they were together alone. Martha had decided she wasn’t going to tell Jack about what she was thinking. She did love him, but didn’t want to tell him. She wasn’t going to get his hopes up when she had no intention of getting with him, she had made that mistake already. “Hey” Jack said from behind her. Martha turned around to see Jack there, she smiled at him “Hey” she replied. He sat down right next to her, his smile still plastered on his face, Martha couldn’t help but look she loved that smile and she just wished she could fall into his arms, but she wasn’t going to allow her self to do that, this time she would have control. “So how are you?” Martha asked him breaking the awkward silence. “I’m alright I guess, just going for a walk and then heading to Robbie’s” Jack told her. He had actually made an effort to come and talk to her. “Really? Me too, Tash called me yesterday saying to come” Martha replied. “C’mon let’s go then” Jack stood up. Martha looked up at him surprised, things really did improve. “So do you have any idea why she called you?” Jack asked, Robbie had also called him. “No not really” Martha replied as they headed for Tash’s place. “Do you think they got engaged” Jack laughed, looking over to Martha “Engaged?” Martha asked shocked. “I doubt it” she added. “Well they’ve been going out for ages and they are both in love, maybe they could have” Jack said. “Yeah maybe, but then I don’t think they are ready for that step” she replied. “Hmm.. guess your right, but then anything is possible with those two” Jack laughed. “You’re right” Martha laughed with him. At least there wasn’t no awkward silence, she wondered how long they would stay this friendly towards each other. *** “About time you two came” Robbie said as he opened the door, he was expecting them to come earlier. “What’s all this about anyway” Jack asked as he and Martha entered. “Camping” Tash told them “Camping?” Both Jack and Martha repeated. Tash laughed at them. “Yeah camping, we were thinking of leaving now and coming back tomorrow afternoon, what do you think?” she asked them both. Martha stopped to think for a while, when they had entered the door she had thought it was much more serious. Not that camping was bad, she loved going camping, she remembered the four of them would always go and sometimes it was only her and Jack. “Doesn’t sound like a bad idea” Jack answered back. “I’ve got tomorrow off as well, so work isn’t a problem” “Good, because Kim and Ashley are already coming and bringing their tents as we speak” she told them All of a sudden Martha’s mind had changed, she didn’t think she would be able to survive being around Ashley for so long and also the thought of her and Jack with each other just made it worse. “You know what I can’t go I’ve got work” Martha said. “Oh what? Can’t you get someone to cover your shifts please?” Robbie pleaded. “Nah, I’ve already had too much time off, maybe next time, I’m sure you guys will have fun without me” Martha told them “It won’t be the same without you we always go together” Tash said. Martha looked away from Jack that had just brought memories that she didn’t want to think about right now, it just made her think of the good memories they had shared and it made her want Jack even more. “Guy’s we’re here” Kim said as he came though the front door, carrying his backpack and the rest of it. “Sorry I have to go” she said walking over and giving Tash a hug. “Maybe next time” she added. She walked out leaving them all, but she hadn’t noticed Jack was walking behind her, he grabbed her arm making her stop and turn around. “Are you sure you don’t want to go just because of work” Jack asked, Martha knew what he was thinking but she had to lie. “Yeah” she replied. “It’s not because of me, because I want you to go” he told her. “Don’t not go because I’m going” he added, he had thought Martha wouldn’t want to go because things were not going well between them. Martha let out a sigh, that had nothing to do with it, she just didn’t want to see Ashley all over him, she knew it would happen now that Jack was single he wasn’t with Martha anymore and Ashley could have him all to herself. “No it’s not because of that, I’ve just a lot of work to do” she said as she reached out to touch his arm and smiled at him. “Bye” she waved of as she took one final look at him.

Why doesnt that girl ever think! Maybe if she went something might have happend with her and Jack, but noooooooo, she takes the cowards way out! Ok, i understand that shes worried about seeing Jack and Ashley together, but somethings more likely to happen if shes not there than if she is! Damit Martha, use your nogan for once in your life! Great chapter, please update soon

The J&Mness from within is coming back! Oh yes baby! Sorry... I should be quiet and keep outbursts like that to myself. Great chapter though! Awww, J&M. I'm just having a J&M moment here... it's been a while. *girly sigh*
