I haven’t updated in ages its been so long that I forgot what I was going to write so I had to go and read it all over again. I’ve been busy with school so I couldn’t get any chapters up. I decided to write this chapter tonight, but there won’t be any frequent updates as I am too busy with school and exams. Sorry, but after they finish I’ll hopefully start updating again

Chapter 23

Even though none had said it, Jack knew that no one expected this from Martha. Especially him, he didn’t suspect like any of this was going to happen. He didn’t even know this guy and yet Martha managed to get with him in less than a couple of days. Was this some kind of payback? Did she want him to see what it felt like? He looked over at Dean who was clueless, Jack wondered if he knew that he and Martha used to date, but knowing Martha she probably wouldn’t have even mentioned it to him.

“So Dean, how long you staying for?” Kim broke the silence since no one else was talking; he guessed that they were still getting their heads around it.

“Well that depends really, I’m staying here for a week or two, to see how it goes, if I like the place it might be permanent” he smiled back politely.

This hadn’t even crossed Jack’s mind yet, he didn’t even figure that he would be staying but since Martha was with him now that would be the only way. He didn’t dare look at Martha he knew she was looking at him, trying to see what he thought about this situation. He could feel his anger rising was she doing this to make him jealous? But he was going to try and remain like it didn’t affect him, if that was even possible.

“So anyway you two how was your date” Martha asked looking at both Tash and Robbie.

“No don’t answer that” Kim said leaning forward and putting his face in his hands, before Tash could say anything. He wasn’t up for the whole romantic detail.

Tash laughed at Kim. “Just because you have no one” Tash joked

“Hey I have plenty of ladies, you just don’t get to see them” Kim replied.

“Yeah like who?’ Robbie wanted to know, by this time everyone was laughing including Jack.

“That’s the point, I’m not telling, it’s a secret” he laughed, knowing the joke was on him.

“So Martha now that your back, what have you got planned for tomorrow” Tash questioned.

“Sleeping in” Martha smiled proudly. “All this traveling I hardly got any sleep” she added.

“Sounds about right, Martha being lazy” Kim announced. But before he could say anything Martha slapped him slightly on the arm.

Jack just leaned back on his chair and stayed away from the conversation he didn’t know what to say it was different now Martha didn’t belong to him. He watched as Dean placed his arms around her, he couldn’t help but look; knowing if he kept going it would only hurt him more. Martha leaned back and gave Dean a quick kiss. This is when Jack looked away he couldn’t keep looking. He hated it when other guys touched Martha, he didn’t know how he was going to get used to this.

“What’s funny” Martha asked Dean, she had heard him laughing and he was looking towards a couple of kids.

“That lady over there, hasn’t left those kids alone for the past 10 minutes, they look really annoyed” Dean laughed to himself.

“Mate that’s Colleen, that’s what she does best” Kim laughed. “I’ll introduce you to her” Kim added getting up from his seats and pulling Dean along.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea” Dean laughed.

“Go on she’s nice and she also has plenty to talk about, she’ll love you” Martha laughed. But unfortunately for Dean he had no choice he was already being pulled along.

“Me and Robbie are just going to get the drinks” Tash pulled Robbie up, truth was she wanted to give Jack and Martha time; she could see they hadn’t spoken yet.

They both sat in silence not knowing what to say, he knew sooner or later the topic of Dean was going to come up he just waited for Martha to begin.

“You can say what you think” Martha broke the silence; she could see that Jack didn’t even bother putting in an effort to get to know Dean, it was also obvious that he didn’t like him much.

“What do you mean?” Jack asked her.

“I know you don’t like Dea-“Martha began but was cut off.

“Dean? When did I say I didn’t like him, you just assumed that. I honestly really don’t care” Jack told her the truth, he didn’t even know this guy, but him being Martha’s boyfriend wasn’t helping either. “You know Martha not everything revolves around you” he added.

“I didn’t say it did” Martha snapped back.

“You obviously wanted to say it” Jack snapped back. But both went quiet when Dean walked over.

“Is everything ok?” Dean asked Martha

“Yeah everything’s fine” Martha smiled at Jack. Jack just looked at her and shook his head.

He hadn’t spoken to Martha in days and the first thing she brings up is Dean. Why did she think he would honestly care about him? He just wanted to get out of here; he couldn’t go on watching Martha be with this guy.

“Hey” Ashley said as she walked in walking over to the table. Everyone smiled back in return, but before she could sit down Jack stood up.

“Can I talk to you for minute” Jack asked. Ashley smiled in return as they both made their way outside.

Martha couldn’t help but turn her head around and watch them, she watched until they left and wondered what Jack wanted to say to her

Next Chapter: Jack talks to Ashley, what does he say? Martha introduces Dean to her family.

Martha: You're an idiot! Using another guy to make Jack jealous, come on thats never going to work, she will be the one that'l end up getting the most hurt in all of this, and its all her fault! (minus Jacky cheating, but that doesnt need to be mentioned lol)

Chapter 24

They had both been walking along for a couple of minutes. Jack didn’t know how to bring it up, he and Ashley hadn’t even talked about it for a long time and he wondered how she would react.

“So Jack are you going to speak or what?” Ashley half smiled at him, they had been walking for ages and still he hadn’t said anything.

Jack looked away from her, things needed to be said and he was just going to gather up some courage and say it. After all this was the only way things would get sorted.

“Jack?” she tried again, he was obviously in his own world.

Jack stopped walking and turned around to face her. He looked at her closely; she was waiting for him to speak to say something, anything. If he was going to admit it to himself this was pretty weird he had dragged Ashley out in front of everyone especially Martha. She’d probably assume something was going on between them, but he didn’t care what Martha thought.

“Ashley….” He began looking up at her; she waited for him to continue. “You know last time you left” he finally added.

“Jack if this about what I think it is, you don’t have to talk about it” she answered back before he could say anything.

“No I do, I mean we never really got a chance to discuss it” he replied.

“Okay then it’s up to you” she told him.

Jack took a deep breath before starting, he was hoping by the end of this conversation no one would end up hurt, that would be the best outcome, and he had to get this over and done with.

“Well that night, did you want something to happen between us or...?” Jack began but she stopped him.

“Jack” she smiled at him. “I was drunk and so were you, things were done and said that weren’t mean to happen, you know that and I know that” she added.

Jack waited her to say something else; he didn’t know where exactly she was going with this.

“You and Martha had a fight, we were both drunk, what happened between us was something I didn’t expect, I don’t think either of us did, it just did and I don’t know how I let myself get so stupid.” She replied.

Jack smiled back at her, which made him feel so much better, knowing that she didn’t want it to happen either. A couple of days ago when she came back Jack thought that she might be here for him, but he knew that was what Martha was thinking. He didn’t know Ashley that well, but the small detail he knew about her, she wasn’t such a bad person. Martha just saw her that way, but she had a reason to assume that.

“So you don’t like me?” Jack asked. “I mean more that a friend” he stumbled.

She laughed. “No I don’t and I hope you don’t assume that at anytime, I just want to be friends and what happened in the past was a mistake and it was obvious you didn’t want it to happen, so the best thing would be is to forget it”

“Couldn’t agree more” Jack smiled at her.

“I know you love Martha and me hanging around isn’t helping, but I’m not here to destroy anything” she told him.

“Loved” he replied. “Loved Martha” he added. Jack then looked away, he knew that was a lie, but right now he was just confused. He didn’t even know why he still had feelings for Martha, the only thing their relationships brought was hurt for both of them.

“So friends?” she asked breaking his thoughts.

“Friends” he smiled at her leaning forward and giving a hug. It made it so much better that he knew these things.

It had passed about half an hour and Jack and Ashley still weren’t back, Martha wondered what took them so long. But she wasn’t going to think about that right now. She turned around to see Sally, Flynn, Cassie, Ric and Pippa walk into the diner. She smiled at them all, before getting up to greet them, she hadn’t seen them in a couple of days and she was beginning to miss them especially Ric.

“Hey” she said giving Ric a hug and smiling at the others. “It’s good to see you all”

“You too, we saw Alf and he told us you were back” Sally smiled.

“How was it?” Ric smiled, he was beginning to miss having Martha around because she was always there when he needed to talk to her and not having her there felt weird.

“It was good, I think I got things sorted and I had a lot of time to think” Martha replied. By now Sally and Flynn had gone to talk to Irene while Martha was left with Cassie and Ric.

“So who’s that guy over there, don’t think I’ve seen him around here before” Cassie said looking into the direction of Dean.

“He’s from the city, he came to stay here for a week or so” Martha smiled. “He’s actually my boyfriend as well” she added, waiting for their reaction. She got a smile out of Cassie but Ric just stood their still confused, confused at Martha’s actions and what she was doing.

“Boyfriend?” Ric finally said, he wanted to know if he had heard the right thing.

“Yeah” Martha smiled in return.

At the corner of her eye she saw Jack enter with Ashley. She knew it would have been something important if they had taken that long. They both seemed much happier then when they had left.

“Martha are you sure about this?” Ric asked her.

Martha snapped out of her gaze and focused her attention back onto Ric.

“Sure about what?” she asked.

“Nothing don’t worry about it” Ric replied. He watched as Martha and Jack made eye contact, holding it for a couple of seconds. He shook his head, why did they do everything the complicated way?
