Anyone got any ideas for getting past writer's block? :(

I wouldn't worry about it, AngelRose, it happens to me all the time and even famous authors too (I once read Mark Twain had to put his story of Tom Sawyer - or was it Huckleberry Finn? - on hold for 18 months). And I can never write when I'm stressed, which I am now (about work). :(

But the best tip is to write something, anything. It doesn't have to be what you're working on now or even a story. Just write anything at all that comes into your head, eg "Got up, had toast and cereal, cold out, looked like rain..."

As long as you keep practising, your imagination will do the rest. :)

Thanks, I'll try! :)

Glad to be of help. I'm still not doing any work myself tho. :( Hopefully I will when I'm less stressed. :) But it's a great excuse for being lazy so I'm going offline now to watch Corrie. :)

With myself I've just found that it naturally returns after I've not wrote because of the block the idea's all start flowing back to me, another technique if you desperatly wanted to get writting again would be that if you have ideas about what you want to happen later on in the story write that chapter and then return back to the chapter where your block occured. Hope you get your muse back soon your a great writer. :)

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I thought so because it's related to fan fictions.

I've been wondering for a long time where people get their inspiration to write?

Do you have aby special places you go, or things you do to get inspiration?

I think this could be a really interestin dicussion, and you could maybe get some new ideas about what to do if you need more inspiration some time?

Hmm...Re fanfics mostly because I find the character interesting enough to write about. And I like writing about kids, especially the funny way kids think, so I often write what they were like as kids eg I've done Kane, Sutherland girls, Angie and Sally (in separate fics, of course!). I also did a Twilight Zone fanfic once because of something spooky that happened to me and I did a Titanic fanfic (well, poem) because of a dream that I had.

Re original fiction, ideas come from anywhere. Dreams, an overheard conversation, holidays, a photo, a news item, TV etc etc etc. :D

I find this a really tough question. I don't think theres any particular thing I get inspiration from, more that I get the spark of an idea and then whenever I'm bored or trying to sleep it starts to work into a story and I have the whole thing planned out ages before I get it down on paper. Return to the Bay came from an idea I had about Angel and Peter being a good couple but then I decided if I was having Angel I'd have to bring back Selina, my second favourite character and then they'd have to come back to Summer Bay so stories were need for the characters there. It just kind of went from that. Summer Bay High was the same, I was trying to think of examples for the fanfic challenge I set of unconventional pairings and I got thinking that Hayley and Martha would be friends, Gypsy and Martha would hate each other and Jack would have a certain spark with Gypsy. Then it occured to me why not have Hayley and Martha be friends who both hate Gypsy because Gypsy went with Martha's boyfriend Jack and because it had Hayley and Gypsy I wanted to bring Will in and so on, the idea just escalated.

Wow this topic has got me thinking and I've just realised that I get most of my ideas in that calm period after an adreneline rush. Okay that probably makes no sense :P I do a lot of extreme sports and I always get such a feeling of calm after the initial terror that it usually sparks an idea off for me, maybe because I'm buzzing and fired up but I'm also relaxed, random I know.

Usually, In my fics, I write from personal expirience (A girl like me if anyone has actually read it) or something I have witnessed happening (a death- where I belong and Say goodbye)

I think the fic's that you can relate to start the ideas for me, as when something is happening or has happened in your life, writing about it often helps you to deal with it and let some of it out. Lol now what the question asked but hey :P

Then again, i might see one object, for example something from a photo to a sunset which will spark off an idea in my head.

So to be honest, I think anything in the world can inspire you to write, it just depends on how you look at things and how you can relate to them.

Now that didn't make a bit of sence I don't think  Does anyone get what I mean?
