LEAH

Living with her, after all these weeks, knowing what she’s done to my family, it’s beginning to make me feel physically sick, watching Amanda Vale live in my very own home. Because of her living here, Drew, Peter and Belle had to move out… Though with Amanda telling me something today, it’s made me realize the true person Amanda is, a lying, cheating, heartless bitch… She’s the reason why my family is apart, and my fault by burning down her house is the only reason why she’s here, because of guilt… Though I could feel the adrenaline pumping, I can slowly feel that I’m going to break down…

Peter Baker lied still on the cold cement floor. He slowly rolled over when he began to gain his movement back. His vision was still blurry and he was still having trouble breathing. Though one thing he gained back well, was his hearing, And the only noise that Peter could here in the background was his worst fear. Clocks that were ticking and clocks that were tocking. The familiar, fearful noise kept stringing back and fourth in Peter’s mind until he saw a door open in the distance, and the only thing he could see was the bright light shining from it. As he tried to get his focus on the person walking towards him, everything suddenly went black- when Peter was stabbed by a needle in his neck. Slowly, Peter fell into unconsciousness, and then was picked up by his captor which moved him out of the room. Peter felt scared inside when he learnt he was still awake, but he lost his senses again, he was paralyzed again. He had no sense of hearing or seeing… Whatever this was, it was his worst nightmare.

CHAPTER 25: The One Where Leah Tells Amanda…

Leah Patterson-Baker finished cooking breakfast as she served up for three plates. Amanda walked in, in her black silky gown as she noticed Leah serving the breakfast. Rudely, Amanda sat down and began to moan, ruining Leah’s happy mood. The moaning began to get louder and more annoying which began to irritate Leah a little too much.

“What’s wrong!?” Leah asked as she slammed the frying pan into the sink, giving Amanda a fright.

“Nothing… I’m ok.” Amanda smiled gently as she rested her head back down. Leah sat down as she began to eat. “I thought VJ was staying with your parents for the week?” Amanda asked as she slowly rose her head up.

“He is… Rachel’s here, she’s in the shower.” Leah said as she continued to eat.

“Rachel’s here?” Amanda asked confused.

“She had a date last night with a guy called Kevin, she didn’t want to disturb Jack and Martha, so she slept here the night.” Leah explained as she continued to eat. Amanda just stared at Leah, she had to tell Leah, she had to tell her the truth that she was pregnant, and that the baby could be Dan’s.

“Leah, I have to tell you something.” Amanda said out of nowhere, catching the attention of Leah.

“What is it?” Leah asked as she stared into Amanda’s eyes.

“Promise you won’t get mad at me when I tell you this?” Amanda said softly. Leah smiled as she touched Amanda’s arm.

“Why, what happened?” Leah asked with curiosity.

“I’m pregnant… I did what you told me to do, and I took the test… And it’s positive… I’m pregnant Leah.” Amanda said with a tiny smile, hoping Leah would be somewhat happy for her. As she continued to stare at Leah, she noticed Leah was staring long hard into space. “Leah? Are you going to say something?” Amanda asked.

“…Is it Dan’s?” Leah softly spoke, beginning to sound upset.

“I… I don’t know… But should it bother you if it is? I mean, you two are getting a divorce.” Amanda said, trying to avoid the conflict ahead with Leah.

“That still doesn’t matter Amanda… You might be pregnant with my husband’s child!”

“Well, the baby could be Peter’s…” Amanda said.

“Or what about Drew? Yeah, it could be his too!” Leah said as she walked out of the kitchen and into the loungeroom where she bumped into Rachel.

“Hey, is everything alright?” Rachel asked as she continued to dry her hair.

“I want her gone Rachel… I can’t stand her living here anymore… She’s ruining my life!” Leah said emotionally.

“Well tell her she has to move out!” Rachel explained to Leah as she wrapped a towel around her head.

“But I can’t… Where is she going to live? She’s living in my home because of what I did!”

“Why, what did you do?” Asked Rachel as she looked at Leah confused. Leah looked around the room, trying to avoid Rachel’s question. “Leah… What did you do?” Rachel asked again.

Jack Holden walked in the police station holding two coffee’s with a huge grin on his face that morning, still overwhelmed by the news that Martha, his wife, is pregnant. As Jack handed one of the coffees to Claire Brody, she smiled at him sweetly as she looked back onto her files she was searching through.

“Any luck?” Jack asked as he watched Claire shuffle through a few forms, he began to see the stressful look which was beginning to grow on her face.

“No… I ordered a warrant before, it should be here any second.” Claire said.

“A warrant? For what?” Jack asked as he looked at her with confusement.

“To search Dennis Gillian’s mansion… I believe he’s the one who has Peter captured.”

“You can’t be serious? For all we know Peter may of just ran away.” Jack said as he sat down, seeing the sweat drip down from Claire’s forehead.

“I doubt it Jack… Gillian has wanted revenge against Peter and I ever since we put him away all those years ago… Finally, after all these years when he comes out, Peter goes missing… Coincidence? I think not.”

Claire took a sip out of her coffee as she moved towards the main area of the station, but was stopped by constable Rice. He smiled as he passed over a closed envelope to her.

“The warrant you ordered, it’s here.” Rice said as he moved away. Claire’s smile turned to excitement as she ripped the envelope open.

“Are you coming Jack?” Claire asked as she placed her gun behind her. Jack stared into space, feeling scared for a reason. He barely knows the man, so why should he be scared? Jack smiled as he got up as they prepared to make a long awaited visit to Dennis Gillian’s mansion. As they sat themselves in the car, Claire looked out the window as she began to drive, hoping and wishing Dennis Gillian would be holding Peter hostage… It was the only way for her to put her mind at rest.

The sun began to set as teenagers were heading home after along day in the surf where as the adults headed home after a long day at work. As Leah entered the Patterson-Baker house, exhausted from a boring day of work at Desire, she fell onto her lounge and began to think on what to do with Amanda Vale living in her home. It wasn’t just Amanda’s fault that her wrongs were pulling Desire into the ground, it was also her wrongs which were destroying the Baker family. After learning Amanda is pregnant, it’s going to affect the family one way or another, whoever the father was, it was still going to bring pain into the family. Leah took a deep sigh when she built up the courage on her decision, not only was she going to kick Amanda out of her home, though she was going to leave Desire, for good! Amanda Vale walked in moments later and noticed Leah sitting there, staring into space. Amanda had this huge grin on her face which was hard to ignore.

“You will never believe what Dennis has just bought me Leah!” Amanda giggled as she sat across from her. Leah slowly got herself up as she looked into Amanda’s eyes. “Leah, are you alright?” Amanda asked, sounding concerned.

“I don’t know… I’m about to make a huge risky turn in my life.” Leah slowly smiled as she avoided Amanda’s eyes.

“Why? What is it?” Amanda asked.

“Amanda, there’s something you need to know… Something you’re not going to like.” Leah slowly explained, this time, staring at Amanda through her eyes. Amanda looked at her, terribly confused. Amanda sat there, waiting and ready to hear what Leah had to say.

A loud banging noise was coming from downstairs of the Gillian mansion. Dennis raced down the stairs, so the banging would stop as a headache formed inside his mind. As he opened the door, his mouth slowly dropped when he saw who was standing in front of him.

“My, my, my… Who would of thought we’ll see the day when you come banging on my front door.” Dennis smiled evilly as he greeted Claire Brody.

“Long time, no see, Gillian!” Claire smiled back.

“Yeah… You’ve got that right.” Dennis coldly said as he looked towards Jack who was standing behind Claire. “What exactly can I do for you, Detective?” Dennis asked.

Claire shook her head with a sly smile as she walked inside the mansion, without any invitation. “Excuse me, but I don’t remember, inviting you inside!” Dennis said sharply, beginning to sound scared deep inside.

“Oh, I’m sorry… I forgot to show you my warrant.” Claire said as she shoved the warrant right in front of Dennis’ face.

“What’s this for?” Dennis asked, beginning to sound all shaky.

“You may of heard about the missing Peter Baker, our theory’s lead him here to this place.” Claire said as Jack began to search around the living room.

“What? You think I hid him under my rug? He’s not here!” Dennis said coldly.

“We’ll believe that when we know he’s not here… Check the basement Holden.” Claire told Jack as he walked down into the basement. She looked at Dennis when she noticed he looked scared inside himself.

“What’s the matter Gillian? The cops too smart for you?” Claire said as Dennis let out a faint smile.

“There’s nothing down here.” Jack said as he walked up to Dennis and Claire. “I’ll start upstairs.” Jack said as he walked up the long flight of stairs.

“So… What’s you plan when you find out I’m not the one who has him?” Dennis told Claire.

“We’ll begin to keep you under a close watch… You’re not as smart as you think you are Dennis.” Claire chuckled as she moved upstairs, leaving a shaken and scared Dennis behind.

Back at the Patterson-Baker house, Leah was halfway explaining to Amanda the choices she’s about to make. Inside, Amanda began to feel a little devastated. With Josie and Belle leaving Desire, there were not many of her friends left there. Leah grabbed Amanda’s hands, about to tell her something else.

“Amanda… There’s something else… It’s about your house.” Leah began to explain.

“Well, what about it?” Asked Amanda.

“The night your house burnt down, I thought you were having an affair with Dan… So I followed you home, because I seriously thought you two were… You know… And you were… So I snuck inside and… Well, I freaked out and…” Leah stopped suddenly as she was struggling for words, trying to figure out a way how to tell Amanda she burnt down her house. “Amanda, I can’t find a way to explain this to you… I’m sorry…” Leah stopped again.

“Leah, you can tell me, it’s-“

“I was the one who burnt down your house.” Leah said, interrupting Amanda’s sentence.

“What? No you didn’t honey, it was the candles when-“

“I knocked over one of the candles and just watched the house go up in flames… I was furious Amanda, you had no idea the pain I was experiencing then… But I’m sorry, I really am. When I got home later that night, I found Dan in bed and realized that he wasn’t the one with you…”

“It was Drew…” Amanda finished. Beginning to sound teary. Amanda took a big sigh, struggling to breathe. “So, the only reason you let me stay here and watch your family move out was because you felt guilty about burning down my house?” Amanda asked, beginning to sound furious, Leah let out a small cry, trying to figure out what to say.

“I’m sorry Amanda…” Leah said as she looked into her eyes.

“Sorry isn’t good enough! I can’t believe you burnt down my house and this whole time you haven’t told me!” Amanda cried as she ran towards her room.

“Amanda, wait!” Leah cried, after hearing the loud bang of Amanda slamming the door.

Leah slowly wiped away her tears as a faint smile crept up upon her face… Hoping that her revealing the truth is enough to push Amanda out of her own home… She felt good that she got it off her chest, hopefully, her life was about to go back on track.

As night fell upon Summer Bay, a cold breeze rippled throughout the air. Slowly, a car crept up to the sands of the beach and got themselves out of their vehicle as they moved towards the boot of the car. Quickly, the boot opened as the person picked something out, a human body, Peter Baker’s body. As the man dumped Peter’s body on the sands of the beach, he took out a syringe from him pocket and pierced it through Peter’s neck. He drove off leaving a very lifeless Peter behind. Leaving him lye there, paralyzed, without any movement. Out of a glimpse of his eye, Peter watched with blurry vision; as he witnessed the car drive off, then all of a sudden, he lost his sight as he blacked out. Leaving him there, lifeless on the beach, without a sole in sight…
