emmasi Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 I saw the movie. It was kind of confronting, but it was good. And Rhys was just... awesome. In situations like these, there is a tendency for the actor playing the disabled role to get all the accalaids and awards, but in this case, I really think that Rhys is in with a chance to get some real recognition out of this movie. Not to diminish Luke Ford at all - who was also awesome - but Rhys ran such a gamut with his acting in that movie, and went to places that I never even dreamed anyone, let alone Rhys, could reach on screen. The scene where he went completely nuts at Charlie and beat the crap out of him, and then his mother found him, Thomas, curled up and crying in the bathroom... wow. I could barely watch him, it was so incredibly real and raw. I had to keep reminding myself that it was a movie, and I couldn't reach in there and hold him until he was alright even if I wanted to... So yeah, wow. The eye-candy factor wasn't too bad either. (Rhys running in his underwear, mmm) but I actually found myself too involved in the acting and the story to do much perving... I suppose that's a good thing... The scene where he was making out with Jackie in the rain storm... ugh. It's one of those scenes where I could have died watching it and been perfectly fine about that. It was so beautiful, and so sad, and so sexual, and so spiritual, and so everything all at once... Absolutely superb. Extreme close up on Rhys' face, once again, mmm... Everyone go see the movie! I promise you Rhys saying swears! (I think I giggled the first time he said "sh*t!" The way he said it was so high pitched and funny ) Excellent movie. And to all those who doubt Rhys' acting ability... go see it. I'll be here when you want to apologise for the years of dismissive abuse

jellow Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 I saw the movie yesterday Having Autism myself I throught it would be good to see and the appeal of the movie. I only got it mild, so it makes me see how lucky I really am. big praise to all the Actors and the directors On the movie as to my understanding not many people understand what autism and you probably wont unless you a relative, well trained on what its a about or have it yourself and i do hope it does give a rough idea what its really about Edit: was that Ryan Clark (i think thats his name whos played Sam and now a reallife life guard in Bondi) that played one of the background characters

sophie06 Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 Does anyone know were I can see the realising in different countries?? I HAVE to find out if the movie is coming to Scandinavia!! They say on www.myspace.com/theblackballoonfilm that it will be out April 3 in Greece, but nothing yet about any other European countries. But I think I read something about Scandinavia somewhere....can remember where though, sorry. But they say on the myspace site, that they will publish the other countries too.
