Chapter 10

Jack looked down at Martha, his sleeping beauty, lying in his arms peacefully with a small smile plastered on her face. Jack couldn’t believe how lucky he was to have such a beautiful woman in his life, who was both sexy on the inside and out. She was everything Jack had ever wanted in a partner, and he had no intention of letting her go. Jack’s thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the front door. Letting out a soft sigh, Jack quietly pulled his boxers on and meandered over to the door to get rid of whoever was on the other side.

“Hi, can I help you?” Jack asked the man and woman standing opposite him. The man was tall, nicely built with dirty blonde hair, and beautiful blue eyes, like Martha, and the woman was also tall, but with dark brown hair and hazel eyes, and she was very pretty. The woman eyed Jack up and down, taking in his appearance, which made Jack’s face turn as red as a tomato.

“Christie and this is Jake,” Christie said, while nudging Jake who too was checking Jack out, “we’re friends of Martha’s, does she live here?” Jack nodded, and moved to the side to let the pair in, before excusing himself and walked back into the bedroom.

Martha woke up, noticing Jack pulling on his clothes, and started to laugh

“Are you thinking of doing a runner Jacky?” Martha asked in between giggles. Jack rolled his eyes at her as he buttoned up his shirt.

“No, you have visitors; they say their friends of yours; Jake and Christie?” Jack said, before starting his own fits of laughter as he watched his girlfriend quickly pull on her clothes and hurried out the door.

“Jakey, Christie, what are you guys doing here?” Martha asked excitedly as she gave her two best friends a hug.

“Martha, who was that hottie in the boxers?” asked a dumbfounded Jake. To him Jack was a heaven-sent who looked perfect in everyway. Martha watched her friend check her beau out and laughed.

“He’s my boyfriend, you goose, and his straight so don’t go falling in love with him, coz his mine,” Martha said in between laughs, “guys, this is Jack, he’s a cop,” she ended with a wink.

After a while of chatting and getting to know the two new faces, including a few uncomfortable shuffles caused by Jake’s consistent flirting, Jack decided it was best he left. Jack gave Martha a quick, but passionate kiss on the lips, to prove to Jake that he was straight, before walking out the door. Martha sat on the couch laughing at her boyfriend’s uneasiness, but she knew that Jake was only kidding around with Jack. The three old friends spent the next hour catching up on the last week since they’d last seen each other, but Jake kept changing the subject back to Jack, which Martha and Christie found amusing. But who could blame him, Jack is quite a catch, anyone in their right mind would fancy his pants off.

While Christie was in the shower, Martha invited them to stay at her place during their short visit, she and Jake stood around the kitchen, while Martha cooked dinner.

“So you and a cop, I never thought I’d see the day,” Jake said as he passed Martha a glass of wine. She had always been closer to Jake then Christie since Jake was a first friend in the City, and they had a lot in common, which always came in handy for Martha because she’d always go shopping with him and knew he wouldn’t complain, and he also had good taste in clothes, unlike her previous boyfriends.

“Shut up Jakey. I may not like all cops, but who wouldn’t want to go out with Jack, his perfect in everyway and he’s a really great guy and I love spending time with him.”

“Oooo…someone is in love. Martha and Jack sitting in a tree, K.I.S.S.I.N.G…”

“OMG Jake, I’m going to kill you,” Martha said as she ran up to Jake and started to tickle him. She knew all his weak spots and the two were playing tickle torture on the couch, laughing and screaming and having a great time, just like the old days.

“OMG, you slut,” a voice said from the front door. Kim stood there is shock. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Never would he have thought that Martha would cheat on Jack. “You’ve only been with Jack for less then a week and you’re already cheating on him. I don’t believe you, you have definitely changed.”

“Kim, it’s not what it looks like-” Martha started while straightening herself up. But Kim, as always interrupted her.

“Save it Martha,” he said as he started to walk out the door.

“Where are you going?” Martha asked. She knew he was going to tell Jack, but she wasn’t bothered by it one bit. She knew Jack would finally sort him out, and then maybe Kim could be as normal as he used to be back when she knew him in high school, because the Kim she knows now is a loser and she doesn’t like it.

“To tell Jack; because he’s my best mate and he has a right to know.” And with that, Kim slammed the door and entered the lift. Inside the apartment, Martha and Jake continued to laugh at Kim’s stupidity, as they told a very confused Christie what had happened.

“Jack, are you here?” Kim yelled out as he entered his apartment door. Jack walked out of his bedroom, looking fresh and smelt gorgeous.

“Hey, what’s up? You look flustered, are you ok?”

“I’m fine. I just came from Martha’s apartment. Mate, she’s cheating on you.”

“What? No she’s not. You’re crazy. Kim, I understand if you’re jealous, but there’s no need to make up stories. I was just with Martha; she is not cheating on me.” Jack laughed as he went over to the kitchen to get a bottle of beer.

“Yes she is. I went there, and saw her on the couch with some tall, blonde guy, and they were laughing and acting very friendly towards each other-”

“Jake is gay, you idiot. He’s Martha’s friend, old room-mate from the City. He and Christie came down to visit Martha for the weekend.”

“Oh, I didn’t know that. I’m-” Kim started, but was cut off by a very angry Jack. Kim felt really embarrassed.

“Think before you act next time, will you. Now go upstairs and apologise to Martha and Jake, before she starts to hate you.” And with that, the two boys went back up to the penthouse and Kim apologised to Martha and Jake.

“I was an idiot, and I’m sorry for jumping to the wrong conclusion, and for calling you a slut,” Kim added quietly while looking down to the floor. Martha and Jake accepted his apology, and Martha properly introduced Kim to her two best friends. Kim and Christie got on like a house on fire, and she invited him to stay for dinner, which Martha did not object to. Then the five of them sat down to a delicious Mexican meal, and even more delicious wine, enjoying each others company.
