Chapter Ten

“Thanks for understanding.” Martha said to Jack later that day, he hadn’t left her and she was surprised to find that she was relieved he had stayed with her.

“Of course I understand. You’ve just been through a traumatic experience, I’m not going to push you.” He said softly.

She smiled “Sit beside me.” She suggested to him.

He readily sat beside her, their hands still joined. He had noticed that she hadn’t let go and was slightly pulling him beside her. While he didn’t sit that close, she seemed happy that he was beside her. He smiled at her.

“I’m glad you’re not going to push me.” She said quietly to him.

“I don’t want you coming to me before you’re ready.” He assured her “Don’t worry, no matter what I’m not leaving you.” He said, giving her a reassuring smile.

“Good, because although it may take a while, I still love you.” She said, smiling at him.

All of a sudden, loud voices could be heard throughout the house, Martha listened to them, and she could hear them telling Ash to get lost and she felt fear rip through her body. She quickly went onto Jack’s lap, throwing her arms around him, visibly shaking.

Jack felt her sit on him, and throw her arms around him, and he held her tightly, knowing she was okay with it. He felt her sob into his chest. Suddenly the door was flung open and sure enough, Ash was there, Ric and everyone behind him.

Martha felt the worst amount of fear rush through her body. She clung to Jack even tighter, if possible.

Jack felt fury run through his body. He wanted to run over and bash Ash but he knew he couldn’t show any sign of violence in front of Martha or she’d be terrified of him as well. He wrapped his arms tightly around her, whispering to her all the while “It’ll be okay.” He whispered to her.

Soon Ric and Brad had dragged Ash out of the place, physically removing him as he didn’t want to leave. Once safely outside, Ric threw a massive punch at Ash’s face, leaving his nose bleeding badly “Stay the hell away from Martha!” He warned him, shooting seething looks at him.

Back upstairs, Martha was sobbing into Jack’s shirt “It’s okay.” He whispered.

A week later, Martha’s trust in Jack was still growing, and she’d even gone as far as to give him a kiss, just a little peck on the cheek, but it was still progress.

“You have to eat.” Jack told her. Over the last two weeks Martha hadn’t eaten much, she only really ate when Jack was around, to keep him happy.

“Jack.” She said, looking at him “I’m fine.” She tried to assure him.

“Martha you’re losing weight, so you need to eat.” He told her flatly.

“I thought guys liked their girlfriends skinny.” She mumbled.

“I don’t. So eat.” He said, putting the food in front of her.

Martha had gotten over her fear of Jack the day she’d jumped into his lap, so all of this fuss wasn’t worrying her. Inside, she was relieved that Jack didn’t want her to be super skinny, truth be told she didn’t either, and although she knew that if she didn’t start eating she’d be heading that way. She looked at the food, then at Jack, then at the food then pushed the plate away. She just didn’t feel like eating.

Jack looked sternly at her, moving the food back in front of her “Do it for Isabel.” He urged her. Over the last few days, Isabel had been in the care of Leah, who didn’t mind and who loved Isabel.

Martha looked at the food, and reluctantly put a small piece into her mouth, chewing slowly then swallowed “I’m done.” She said in a small voice.

“Don’t make me start.” Jack warned her “I don’t want to have to do the Aeroplane Jelly theme song but if we must we must.” He said firmly.

Two weeks later, Martha was improving in leaps and bounds, much to everyone’s relief. She was socialising, and she’d left the room, but she’d only leave it if her arm was literally attached to Jack. When he was around, she felt safe and that was what she needed. And today, Leah was bringing Isabel over. She’d barely seen the child, as she’d been in no condition to look after a needing baby, so Leah had offered. Jack would’ve taken the 2 month old baby, but Martha wouldn’t let him out of her sight, sometimes even grasp but he was okay with that.

“I finally get to see her again.” Martha said softly, smiling at Jack as they sat at their home. Martha had agreed to move back in with Jack, rather happily and they were officially getting their daughter back today.

“Here she is. She’s happy to see her mum.” Leah said, smiling as she handed the baby to Jack.

“Thanks Leah.” Martha said gratefully “I don’t think I would’ve been able to look after a little baby.” Martha admitted.

“You’re welcome. Just get better.” She told her, smiling as she said goodbye to the happy couple.

Martha smiled as she lifted her two months old daughter out of Jack’s hands, cradling her tightly. She worshiped Isabel, she was her gorgeous daughter who meant the world to her “Mummy’s here.” She whispered.

Jack smiled, preparing lunch. Martha was starting to eat more, which was a relief to Jack. She’d lost a fair amount of weight in three to four weeks and Jack knew it hadn’t been good for Martha or Isabel, so he was relieved that everything was back to normal, or heading back to normal.

“I’m so happy to have her back.” Martha said, cradling Isabel in her arms lovingly “I missed her so much but I knew she was better off with Leah, I could barely look after myself, let alone a little girl.” She said, smiling at Jack “You were my inspiration.” She said to her husband softly.

“Thanks.” He said, giving her a hug “I’m happy that you’re finally getting past this.” He told her.

“I’m happy to, it’s best for me and Isabel that I’m past this and that’s how this is going to stay.” She said firmly.

o and i left because i had to go look after my neice lol then i went shopping so i didnt get back on until now at 1.33am my time lol but great update update ASAP
