-ParaisGal- Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Chapter Twenty Seven. "Anything but that I could handle." Jack said quietly, staring at the two objects shining at him from the table "Why would she do this? I can't lose her again, first she got taken, now I lose her through separation – for the second time!" He said, frustrated. "Take it easy mate." Alf said, putting a hand on Jack's shoulder after handing him Toni "I'm sure she'll come around, she's just very upset at the moment." "I hope she comes around." He said softly, twirling the two rings around his fingers, the silver shine matching the shine from his own ring. "She will mate, she loves you too much not to." ----- "Hi." Martha turned at the sound of the voice, surprise filling her. She looked up, seeing the face she was worried about seeing. Jack's. "It's alright." He said quickly, smiling at her but even Martha knew it was forced. "You hate me because of this don't you? Because I want a separation for a while." She said softly. "No, I don't hate you. I love you. I don't care about the separation, well I do but if you're not ready then I understand that. I just wish you hadn't taken off the rings." He said softly, sitting opposite her on the couch. "You probably think I'm an idiot." She mumbled "I feel like one, but I just can't let it go Jack. I hate feeling so insecure, I hate it. I'm not used to it." She said quietly. "Alright, I won't force you to be with me. I'm not like that." He said, raising his hands to surrender. "I know you're not." She said, sighing as she leant back onto the lounge. "I'm still sticking by you." He assured her. "You don't have to. There is also nothing to stick by. I don't know if I'll be ready for a relationship for a long time, let alone a marriage." She said quietly. "Yes I do. You're my wife, and I love you." He said openly. "Thanks, but remember this may account to nothing." She reminded him. "I know, but it's worth the risk." He said seriously. ----- "Anything?" Lucas asked as Jack walked glumly into Beth's, an arm wrapped around Isabel and wheeling two and a half month old Toni inside the room, inside her pram. "Nup." He sighed. "She'll come round." Beth said sympathetically putting a hand on Jack's shoulder. Jack sighed, looking around Beth's house. With Martha gone, he hadn't really been able to fully grip his father's death, grip anything really. Now it was back in full force, except he didn't have Martha's support. Well, he did but she had her own issues and there was no way he was going to put them onto her. No way. "Maybe you should talk to Martha?" Beth suggested, placing the plates down on the table. "I shouldn't dump her with anything." Jack said absent-mindedly, his gaze lingering on a photo of the Holden clan. Him, with an arm around Martha, who was holding a younger Isabel, and Belle and Lucas cuddling up, Tony and Beth looking happy, with Mattie, Kit, Robbie, Scott, Noah, Ella, Hayley and Tasha all around, Robbie holding Ella and Noah standing in between his parents. Both Beth and Lucas noticed him looking, even though they said nothing, and they exchanged a worried look. They both knew that Jack hadn't grieved because he was searching for his wife, but now she was back his grieving was likely to return full swing, and he wouldn't have his wife by his side to support him. ----- "Hey." Martha greeted Jack awkwardly, knowing how bad things were between them at the moment. She sighed when Jack didn't turn around, knowing it was her fault. She'd messed up. She stayed where she was, not nearing, he probably didn't want her anywhere near him "I'm sorry." She said quietly. Jack turned around to her, seeming surprised to see her "What are you sorry about?" He asked her softly, giving her his full attention. "For everything." She said, sitting near him. "Martha, you have nothing to be sorry about. You're unsure, you're insecure." He assured her "I don't hold any grudges against you." He said, holding back "You made your choice." He said, looking at her sadly "And I respect your choice. I understand and appreciate your choice. I want you to know I'll always be here if you want to talk. I just want you to know I'll always love you, and I'll always stick by you, no matter what you do." He said, standing up and walking back to his car "Need a lift?" He asked her, looking at her kindly. "Yeah, thanks." She said gratefully, smiling to him. "You're welcome." He nodded, starting the car gently. ----- "Have you thought about chances of a reconciliation with Jack? Marriage counselling?" Tash asked Martha later on. "I've thought about the chances, and I don't know at the moment. As for counselling, no way do I want to do that. I'm sure I'll feel better about marriage soon. Well, I hope I do." She said sadly, with a sigh. "So you've changed your mind from what it was originally. Originally you were going to go and see the divorce courts two days ago." Tash pointed out "But that's a good thing. It proves your marriage means a lot to you." She said, giving her a smile. "My marriage does mean a lot to me." She said, rubbing her tired eyes "So does Jack, and the girls. But I don't know about anything anymore." She sighed "I can't do anything and I hate it." She said quietly. "There's one thing to find out." Tash said decisively "Will you still wear the rings? It's been three days since you were hell bent on a split and those rings have been off for that entire time. Any chance they'll come on?" She asked her. NEXT UPDATE: Will the rings go back on? And will she regain her truth in people?
>>Emma<< Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Paris I hate you! No update for you now. You just had to split them up didn't you? Update soon, and they better get back together!
