My OCD takes the form of numbers/counting and plays on loss/bereavement.

E.G. If I don't do something another 15 times, my mum will be run over by a bus.

It is such a stupid thought, but can be so difficult to ignore.

I can totally relate to that; I used to have similar thoughts when I was in my early teens. I'm not sure if mine was an OCD as such (I'm guessing it was), but I'm happy to say it did pass after a few years.

I think most people have these sorts of feelings at various times in their lives. It usually relates to feeling out of control.....doing things over and over again in a weird sort of way is a way of saying ....I am in control here and I am gonna do it this way...if you get me...

I had this thing with counting my steps, and categorixe them into different "colors", which I could again dive into different patterns... etc, etc.

My clothes have to be ironed a certain way, and put away in drawers in the right order. When I go to the super market I have to pack the shopping a certain way or I get real mad....other than that I am normal....'ish. :P

When I itch one hand, I have to each the other!!

Or if I have a pain in one side of my head, I have to hit the other side to even it out!!

Its so annoying but I have to do it!

I have to do things in a certain order, as well, like getting dressed and stuffm, and I have a thing about quarters. I cut food into 4 pieces, then into 4 again and again until its a biteable size. I need things and places to be clean as well, but I have got a lot better since I'v been at uni. I clean up a lot, still, but I don't flip out when the place is a mess.

I think it's about control. It links a lot to weight as well, like anorexics often have OCD, the weight issue is part of it for me. I get scared by dirt, which is why I clean, its not that I think bad things will happen but I hate dirt. I don't mind messy places, but when they are dirty I need to clean them.

I never used to get scared of dirt/germs, now i do. I wash my hands all the time. It's annoying as hell, but if i don't do it, i can't sleep or concentrate or anything.
