You don't die from it and you're not crazy if you have it,it's a mental illness.You can take medication for it and lead a perfectly normal life,it's not contagious and there's nothing youi can do to prevent it,though not taking drugs might help,i've heard that might contribute to it .I'm not sure if the cause of it's known.

Thanks for that, I know it isnt contagious, I just donr inderstand the cause. But I guess there probably isnt one. Same as a cure.

I dont mean to offend anyone, but what is Schizophrenia?

I looked it up and dont understand it. Can someone please help me?

Schizophrenia means when someone goes crazy and act strangly and also hear vocies which others can't, Traceve Irene had Schizophrenia last year when Corey was posinig her and Joey also had this and he tried to kill Irene with a knife which was sacry and it can kill them, Tell me if this helpful or not if not ask someone else and they could explain it a little bit better, It horrible when someone gets it

Willz...NO.. some of this wrong...but you are right it can be scary if you dont understand it..and it can be pretty scary for the sufferer and his or her family and friends...but we should not be frightened if we know someone who has this illness as it is treateable and a lot of sufferers can get treatment which enables them to live a farily normal life.

.. Irene DID NOT have schizophrenia...she was suffering from Mercury posioning...which can mimic some of the sympoms of schizophrenia.

No. schizophrenia can not kill you! The symptoms may in very extreme cases cause you to harm yourself but the illness itself is not life threatening. Most schizophrenics are not violent.

You are most welcome...your friend will need you to be supportive and understanding particulalry if she is the early stages of the illness ....which is quite frightening for the sufferer and his her friends and family......it is important not to be frighetned and to be there no matter what... ...I hope things go well for her.

I dont know what stage she is in. She just told me as she felt, I needed to know. Which is good she can tell me these sorts of things.

I will support her and try not to be frightned as I now know it isnt her fault
