-lolly- Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 Their getting married! YAY! What would make the wedding absolutely perfect is if Martha could walk down the isle...*that was so not a hint * Can't wait to read the wedding.
-ParaisGal- Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 Chapter Fourteen: “I’m nervous.” Martha admitted. Her grandad was going to push her down the aisle. It was a month since the little wedding talk. “You look beautiful Mac. I’m sure you’ll be fine.” Tash assured her, as they got her ready. “Alright, it’s time to go.” Sally said, popping her head in. Martha sighed, she was nervous but she knew she was ready. ------------------------ Jack turned his head, as the wedding march came on. He smiled as he watched the three bridesmaids: Tasha, Belle and Cassie head down the aisle. Cassie leading, then Tasha then finally, her maid of honour Belle. Martha smiled as her wheelchair was placed where it was to be placed. She looked at the priest, ready to begin. ------------------------ “I can’t believe it!” Martha smiled the next day, after waking up. Jack was dressed, and about to lift her out of bed “You know I can do it myself.” She said to him, poking him hard in the chest as he lifted her. “I know you can, but I like doing it.” He said, smiling as he kissed her. “Alright.” She shrugged. “So, you ready for the brunch today?” Jack asked as he gently placed her in the chair. “As ready as I’ll ever be.” She said with a grin. “What’s that supposed to mean?” Jack asked, raising a brow at her. “Meaning now that I’m married to you I’m sort of stuck.” She said, grinning at him. “Gee thanks. Maybe I’ll just divorce you.” He said, his voice trailing off. “If you do that, you will die.” She said seriously. “What are you going to kill me with? A nail file?” “No.” She said calmly “A butchers knife.” ----------------------- “I’ve probably said this to death but welcome to the family.” Tony grinned at her. “Thank you.” Martha said, grinning at him “I’m sure it’s all because of Ruby and Harley.” She smirked at him. “Not true! Well, maybe it is but I’m not saying anymore!” He laughed. “Jack I’m glad you picked Martha though.” He said, referring to Jack who stood behind him. “Thanks dad.” -------------------- “Now, I know as the father of the groom, it’s my job to do a speech. But I decided even though it’s not normal for people to do speeches at the brunch, I’m making it normal.” Tony said, grinning “Alright, now. Where do I start? Jack and Martha, very much in love. Obviously. They’ve got two beautiful children, Ruby and Harley, who are adored by their parents as we all very well know. Well, us that have seen Jack chasing Ruby because she stole his keys wouldn’t fully understand. Anyway. But on a serious note, and there may not be many in the speeches that follow mine, as this is how the Holden’s weddings have worked. Jack and Martha were amazing together from the first time they met. They soon had a romance, which led to the birth of their healthy baby boy, Harley. They are amazing parents to five year old Ruby. And they are just amazing people to have in the bay.” Tony finished, smiling at his son. “Right, now me and Martha have a few words.” Jack said, after his father had handed him the mike “We’d like to thank you all, especially after Martha’s accident. You all helped us so amazingly that I really don’t know how we would have gone without your help. People were always bringing over food in the early days, to take to the hospital and for me and the kids. People would offer to mind them so I could help Martha with her physio and everything that’s related to her accident. You’ve all just been so wonderfully amazing that it just isn’t possible to thank you enough. On behalf of the four of us, I’d love to say thanks for everything.” He said, smiling at them. -------------------- “That was amazing.” Martha said later that night as they sat on the bed, with Jack having piled all the cushions behind himself and Martha lay, using him as a pillow. “Tell me about it. I can’t believe I finally wear a ring on my left hand.” He said, smiling at her. “I’ve worn one for a while, but this new one is extra special.” She said, smiling “This was the best day of my life.” Jack said, kissing Martha’s forehead. -ParaisGal- Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 Chapter Fifteen: Martha pushed herself into The Holden/Hunter house living room, she was coming from her own house next door. She got a shock when she saw Tony with people around him, some people who looked just like him. “Hey Martha.” He greeted her, waving her over. When she got beside him he turned to everyone “These are my sister, and Kate’s sister.” He said, pointing them out “My sister is Jane, and Kate’s sister is Chloe. ” He introduced them, then realised they didn’t know who she was “This is Jack’s wife, Martha.” He said. Martha smiled nervously at them. She’d never heard of Jack’s extended family so she didn’t know how to react “Hi.” She said quietly. They all said hello, then turned their attention back to Tony. “Mummy!” Came Ruby’s loud voice, as she hurried in. “Hey Ruby!” Martha said, grabbing for her before she launched herself onto Tony “Where’s daddy?” She asked her. “With Harley.” She grinned at her mum, her energy endless. Tony looked at the relatives, who were looking at Ruby “This is Martha and Jack’s little girl, Ruby.” He introduced them. Jane looked at them both “She’s your daughter? Meaning she’s my grand-niece?” She asked rudely. “Yeah she is.” Martha said quietly. “She’s very pretty.” Chloe said in a friendly tone. “Thanks.” Martha said gratefully, the Jane woman seemed rather cold to her so she was happy Chloe was friendly. ------------------------------------ “You’ll find that with Aunty Jane.” Jack confirmed later “She’s a bit of a snob, and she has a slight issue with disabled people. She thinks they are lesser people, that they did something wrong because God punished them with disability. She’s a devout Christian.” He said with a sigh. “Great.” Martha said moodily. “Hey, once she realises who you are she should be fine. If she isn’t then it’s her loss, Mac. Not ours.” He said firmly. “Thanks Jack but she obviously doesn’t like me.” She said looking at him. “Why do you know that? Maybe she’s changed, Mac. People do change.” He pointed out. “She was quite cold, and I was surprised by that.” She said, shrugging at him. “Maybe because she knew we married after we had kids.” He pointed out “She’s always been against that.” He shrugged. “Maybe.” She said with another sigh. --------------------------------- “We’ve been invited to dinner at dad’s place.” Jack said, walking in later that afternoon. “What so I have another dose of your Aunt Jane?” She snapped. She’s spotted her earlier, twice actually, after her little run in and Jane had been rude and cold, yet again, both times. “Martha, please. There isn’t really anything I can do. But please, just be yourself and she’ll love you. Chloe gets along with you.” “Yeah, but Chloe’s your mother’s sister. Jane isn’t.” Martha pointed out. “Jane was trying to set me up before I met you Mac.” He said “Obviously she wanted me to date this picture perfect Christian girl, reopen me to my faith. But that obviously didn’t happen, because I had kids before marriage.” He shrugged. “I never knew your family was that strong with faith.” She said, surprised. “Jane and Joseph were the strongest. Dad wasn’t as strong, being the middle child of four, well one of the middle children. Erica, the second youngest, isn’t that strong in her faith either.” He said. “I haven’t met either Erica or Joseph. “They are coming soon, but Erica should be a fair bit more accepting than Joseph.” “Great, so there’s another problem.” She snapped again. “Martha stop it!” He said, looking at her “You haven’t even met Uncle Joseph!” He said, looking at her unhappily. “Well your aunt doesn’t like me because I’m an invalid! What do you expect me to do!” She said loudly. “Please Martha, I’m sorry.” He said “But I’m obliged at least to go to dinner. I can’t get out of it.” “Fine, but I don’t know how long I’ll stay.” She said, her eyes hard and cold as she looked at Jack. “Martha-” “Don’t talk to me.” She snapped, heading to her room. She was sick of people judging her because she was disabled. ------------------------- “Martha’s coming over soon.” Jack said to Tony, giving his aunties a hug. He looked at Jane, who seemed to look colder when Martha’s name was mentioned. “Great mate, she busy with Ruby?” Tony asked, before heading to another room to grab some stuff. “Yeah, Ruby’s causing a bit of trouble.” Jack said, sitting down at the spot next to the missing chair, where Martha’s chair would go. “Are you sure that woman’s right for you Jack?” Jane asked, looking at him. “I’m sure she is.” Jack said firmly. “I know plenty of girls who might be better for you.” Jane said, looking at him. “I don’t want to know those girls Aunty.” Jack said patiently, knowing he couldn’t get angry at Jane or everything bad would happen at once, as it always did. “I’m sure you would. I’m sure they’d accept Ruby and Harley, I’m sure Martha wouldn’t mind a stepmother for them.” Jane said, looking at him. “I am actually technically Ruby’s stepfather. Her boyfriend and her had Ruby pretty young, and then he passed away in an accident.” Jack said, knowing he had little claim to Ruby. “At 17, yes your father told me. But what type of person would have a child at 17 Jack, ask yourself. How do you even know you’re Harley’s father?” She pushed harder. “Because I know I am.” He said, gritting his teeth. “You’re better off without her.” She said. “Martha!” Tony called as he headed back into the room, causing Jack to whirl around. Martha had been listening all along. ---------------------------- “Martha wait!” Jack called in the house, watching Martha go to her room again. “Just go away Jack.” She spat at him “I’m sick of her, and I’ve only known her a day. She won’t leave me alone, so I don’t know what to do. Maybe we should give her what she wants Jack.” She said, looking at him. She was too upset to see reason. “We aren’t splitting up!” Jack said, horrified. “Maybe we are Jack. I can’t stand her.” She said, looking him straight in the eye. “We don’t have to, please Martha.” He begged her. “She’s your family Jack. She’s going to be at every family thing. I can’t stand her Jack.” She said coldly “Just go.” She said, not looking at him anymore. NEXT UPDATE: Will Jack change Martha’s mind? PLEASE RATE AND REVIEW!
