da_love_goddess Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Hey Paris! Great start to your fan fic. I really hope Lillie is Jack's daughter.
-ParaisGal- Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Everyone hopes she's Jack's lol. Alright, next chapt up to save me from the painful kicks from Tiffy. Chapter Three (Cont.) “We knew the result due to the blood mix, but the blood test confirmed it. If Lillie was Jack’s daughter, she’d be an o negative, because both of you are. If she was Ashton’s she would be o positive. Lillie’s blood type is o negative.” She confirmed, looking at them. Martha frowned “How though, the dates were wrong.” She said, confused. “Maybe they were right, you just didn’t notice. There was only a 3 or so week gap between Ash and Jack.” She said softly. “Wow.” Jack said, looking at Lillie “Martha we need to talk.” He said, heading out the door with her following. --------------------------------------------- “This is going to be complicated.” Martha said with a sigh “We live forty five minutes apart, and we both have jobs that would clash time wise.” She said, sitting on the bench. “One option is that you could move here, take back your bar job?” He offered. “I need that job Jack, that job was fine when it was just me but remember, I’ve got Lillie. I’m just scraping by with what I’ve got.” She said, watching Lillie play on the playground. “Then you’re going to get money from me.” He shrugged “You’ll get it either way.” He added. “Thanks.” She said, grateful “Maybe eventually I will move back here but not yet. Alright then, I’ll give you my address, and phone numbers and whenever we’re both free we can meet somewhere. If you’re in the city, call in at my work. I’m there heaps. And I may return the favour. Lillie needs to know her dad. She deserves to, she’s a brilliant kid. Besides that job let’s me take Lillie in, which is a huge plus.” She added. “You’re deal sounds good. I told dad about the paternity test and I texted him telling him that he has a granddaughter.” He said, smiling as Lillie came back. She’d never been properly introduced to Jack yet. “Sweetie come here.” Martha said gently, taking her into her arms. Lillie looked at her mother calmly, it took a bit to get her angry and upset, and she was a good little girl. “See this man next to mummy? He’s your daddy angel.” She said, pointing to Jack to emphasis the point. “Daddy?” She said, frowning unsurely. “Yes, your daddy. He’s going to be around often too.” She said, still in a soft, gentle tone. She sighed when Lillie moved to her other side “Lillie he won’t hurt you.” She said quietly, pulling her onto her lap and nearly groaning when she moved off her lap and sat on the other side of her again. Jack watched as Lillie took in the news, quite badly actually. He was hurting greatly by the fact that his daughter didn’t seem to want to know him, and he figured his hurt showed on her face. “Jack she’ll take time. If I’d known sooner than she’d be better. She’s just, shy. She hasn’t had the best people around her.” She said softly. “What do you mean? One of your boyfriends?” He asked curiously. “Neighbours. I’m not in the best neighbourhood.” She admitted “It’s cheap, that’s all it has going for it.” She said, shrugging. “Alright, I have an idea. Come to my place tonight?” He asked, hope on his face. “Dad and Luc want to meet her.” He added. “We’ve got to take this slowly Jack.” She reminded him “We can’t push her.” “I know, we will take it slowly.” He promised. “Alright fine.” Martha said, watching as Lillie ran back to the playground. -ParaisGal- Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Chapter Four “Hey Jack.” Beth greeted him, a grin on her face “We heard about your little girl.” She added, looking joyous. “Yeah, Lillie. Her full name is Lilliana-Jade Mackenzie.” He told the crowd. “Does she get called Lilliana, Lillie, Jade, Lilliana-Jade, what?” Beth asked. “Any of them. She answers to them all, but mainly Lillie or Lilliana.” “Tell us more.” Luc said simply, entering the room with Tony. “I need to know more about my granddaughter.” Tony explained. “Alright. Martha told me a fair bit. She was born on the 27th of December, and she’s two and a bit. She doesn’t like me either.” He added, partly sad. “Really?” Beth asked, slightly confused. “Martha was trying hard but she just wasn’t happy. Martha told me she hasn’t always had the best people in her lives, she lives in a moderate neighborhood that apparently can have pretty bad neighbors.” He told them. “How is Martha? Changed much?” Tony asked. “Not really. She really wishes she’d been told the correct dates then she’d have known that Lillie was mine.” “She was told the wrong dates?” Beth asked handing out the plates. “Yeah. I invited them for dinner.” He added. “So Martha’s fine with this?” Tony asked. “Yeah. We’ve done a few little arrangements so I can see her regularly.” He added. “That’s great mate.” Tony said, pleased that he had a granddaughter. “Her birthday’s soon too. It’ll be your first Christmas as a dad, Jack.” Beth said “You’ve got to get her something really good.” She added “That may help you with her.” “Christmas is in a week, I wonder if Martha would stay here.” He wondered. “Isn’t she going to move here?” Tony asked. “No, she’s decided she’s going to stay in the city for a while, not move back here straight away. Hopefully she’ll move here soon though.” ---------------------------------- “Daddy’s inside, with grandpa.” Martha said to Lillie as she pulled her out of the car “So is Uncle Luc.” She added. “Grandpa?” She asked “Uncle Luc?” “They are both really nice people Lillie. So is your daddy. You’re daddy wants to get to know you.” She said, moving a piece of brown hair from her eyes “He wants to love you.” She added. She hesitantly walked up to the door and knocked. They’d decided it would just be Martha, Luc, Tony and Jack for the dinner, so as to not complicate things for Lillie too much. “I don’t want to.” She said, frowning hard. “Lillie-Jade!” Martha warned her. Jack hurried to the door, smiling at the two people he saw “Hey Martha, hey Lillie.” He greeted them, letting them in. Martha smiled nervously as she walked in, putting Lillie on the ground and noticing that she held tightly onto Martha’s skirt “It’s okay.” She said softly. She knew what she had to do “I’ll be back in a minute.” She said, smirking as she headed to the bathroom. Lillie realised that her mother was gone too late, and that she was stuck with these men. She clung to the lounge that was next to her, unsure. “Lillie.” Jack said, kneeling beside her, relieved she didn’t step away “I’m not going to hurt you.” He said softly, reaching one hand out to her little hand. Lillie watched the hand come closer, remembering that her mum had promised her that he wouldn’t hurt her. She let him hold her hand as she looked at him. Jack sat on the couch, relieved when she sat next to him. She seemed to have decided that since she knew him the best she’d stick with him. He was surprised when she crawled into his lap but he didn’t have a major reaction. He hesitantly put his arms around her, thrilled when she didn’t throw them off. He stood up, holding her in his arms, she didn’t fight him so he was happy. Martha watched from the bathroom doorway as Lillie got picked up by Jack and accepted it. She hadn’t needed to go to the bathroom but she needed Lillie to love and trust Jack. It seemed she was learning to. ------------------------------------------- “So tell us how she’s been going.” Tony said, serving out the salad. “She’s been really good.” Martha said, smiling as she put a small piece of chicken on Lillie’s plate, followed by a bit of salad. “Want any help?” Jack asked, slightly unsure of how he’d go as a parent. He had no experience. “Sure. Cut up the chicken for her please.” Martha said, giving Jack an encouraging smile, knowing how little he knew. “Alright.” He agreed, cutting the chicken into bite size pieces. “Well.” She continued “She does lots of stuff. You figured she’s walking and talking. Most of the time annoying her mother as much as humanly possible. Now she can annoy her daddy, uncle and granddad in one go.” Martha said, smirking at the three of them. “That’s not fair!” Luc protested. “It’s plenty fair, actually. You’re lucky you’ve only got a bit of the terrible twos left. Imagine when she started turning two, you know that stage Luc. It’s a horrible stage. A parent’s worst nightmare.” Martha grinned, leaning to kiss Lillie’s forehead. “I know that all too well. Jack was pretty hard, so I’m guessing it’s in her blood.” Tony said with a laugh. “I should’ve given her to him for the second year.” Martha said, smiling at Jack. “No you shouldn’t have! I don’t know too much about kids.” He admitted, embarrassed. “It’s alright Jack. I don’t expect you to be a pro.” Martha assured him “Time is all you need.” ------------------------------------------ “Do you have to go?” Jack asked later that night, handing her Lillie. “Yes I do, I have work Jack.” She reminded him. “So do I.” He agreed. “At least everyone seemed happy to see me again, that was a good thing.” She added, smiling at him. “They were, they’ve all been worried.” He assured her “Especially me.” He added. “Thanks.” She said, getting into her car “See ya Jack!” She said, waving as she drove off. -------------------------------------------------------- Tony headed into the diner, smiling as he saw Jack in his copper uniform there, obviously on a break. He was looking at his phone, desperate for it to ring “Hoping Martha’ll ring?” He asked, sitting beside his son. “Yeah, I haven’t heard from her, and it’s been two days.” He said, frustrated. He wished Martha still lived in the bay, it’d make it a lot easier for him to accidentally run into her. “She’ll call soon mate don’t worry. Don’t stress, she’ll let you know.” He assured him “She’s probably been run off her feet at work and hasn’t thought to ring.” He said. “Maybe.” He said, sighing. ------------------------------------------ “Jack you look tired.” Fitsy commented to him, as she handed him some paperwork to do. “I am. I’ve been thinking about Lillie.” He told her. “It’s nearly Christmas. Surely she’s coming to your place for Christmas? She’s spent the last two with Martha.” She added. “I don’t know. It’s up to Martha.” He said, shrugging. He turned when he heard loud giggling and felt someone grab him around the legs “Lillie!” He said, hugging her. “Daddy!” She squealed, sitting on his lap. “This is Lillie?” Fitsy asked, smiling at the little girl. “Yep. Where’s mummy?” He asked Lillie. She shrugged. “I’m here.” Martha said wryly “She ran ahead of me.” She said, bending down to kiss Lillie’s head “Hello Lara.” Martha said politely. She’d never gotten along with Lara, and a lot of people knew that Lara and Martha weren’t a good combination. “Hello Martha.” Lara said evenly, ignoring her after that. “Hey Martha.” Peter said warmly, coming out of his office. “Hey Pete.” Martha grinned to the detective. “Alright Jack, you can head off.” He said, pointing to the door “You’re shift ends in about ten minutes so your free to go early.” He said, pausing to tickle Lillie’s stomach. ---------------------------------- “You got me out of work!” He exclaimed, thrilled “Ten minutes, that was all.” Martha said with a laugh. “Ten minutes is like a lifetime when you’re stuck doing paperwork.” He told her as they sat by the wharf. “Sure Jack.” She said, rolling her eyes. “There is something we need to discuss.” Jack said seriously “What’s happening Christmas Day.” He added. “Right.” She said, nodding. “Well what’s gunna happen?” He asked. She sighed “I don’t know.” She admitted “See, my mum offered for me to come up with her, to live with her not long ago. Including Christmas Day. Well, spend Christmas with her and live with her when I had a bit more money, because I was so unhappy.” She added. “Are you going to?” He asked, mortified. “I honestly don’t know, Jack.” She replied. “Please don’t, Martha, please don’t.” He begged her “Lillie needs her dad.” He added. “We’ll see. But I promised mum.” She said. NEXT CHAPTER: Christmas Day. Who does Martha spend the day with, Roo or Jack? PLEASE RATE AND REVIEW!
