-ParaisGal- Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 -Note- A little bit of bad language. I don’t count it bad, but some may. Chapter Twenty Four. “She was never lost.” Peter said, breaking the news to the relieved couple. “Where was she?” Martha asked, gripping Jack’s hand as they drove somewhere. “She made her way to a close relatives house.” He grinned. They pulled into the apartment block. “She stayed with Mattie?” She asked, surprised. “A lady found her early this morning, took her to the police station. She spent the night there, but nobody recognised her so they couldn’t contact you, she was constantly crying for her mother and father, and at 5am it was posted, and then repeatedly until Mattie came in about half an hour ago.” Peter explained, watching Mattie hurry out with Mackenzie held tightly in her arms. “Thanks Mattie.” Jack said gratefully, taking his two year old daughter in his arms. “It’s alright. I was going to drop her off but my car kind of piked out on me.” She said, shrugging her shoulders “So I figured I’d call someone first.” She said to them. “Come back to our place?” Martha asked her. “No, it’s alright.” She said, looking a bit reluctant as she said it. “No arguments, you’re coming back to our place.” Jack said firmly, leading them all to the car. “Alright.” She laughed. ------- “Great.” Mattie muttered, walking into the Holden house, to find Beth and Tony already there. “You’ll be fine.” Martha said optimistically, wrapping a supportive arm around Mattie’s shoulder. “Matilda.” Beth said coldly, noticing that Mattie’s stomach was now growing. “Beth.” She nodded to her mother. Lucas looked in between them, then looked at his father, rolling his eyes in emphasis of his feelings on the situation, and sighing at his father’s shrug. Beth looked coldly at Tony, not feeling very happy about his lack of support for her “I thought you’d support me on this.” She said, looking sternly at him and hoping that he’d back down. “Why would he support you ditching your own daughter?” Lucas said finally, giving Mattie a sympathetic look. “Because he’s my partner.” She said, looking at her boyfriend pointedly so he knew it. “I know I am Beth, but I want to support Mattie in this.” Tony tried to explain to her “Matilda needs some form of support around, you do need to support her.” He pointed out. “Matilda made her own decision to have this baby!” She snapped “She knew what she was throwing aside. She’s losing everything she possibly could.” “Beth, I was a single mum at 19. Mattie will be a year older than me when her baby comes, and she’ll have proper family support.” Martha tried to help Beth see reason. Beth turned on her, her normally gently eyes full of fury “This is your fault. You were the one that made Matilda think it over, she’s ruining her life can’t anybody else see this!” She said loudly. “This is my choice.” Matilda said coldly. “Beth I’d appreciate it if you’d leave.” Martha said, holding open the door. “Fine, I can see you’re all against me but Matilda Hunter you will find out soon enough that a baby isn’t all sunshine and daisies.” She said, storming out. “Good riddance!” Lucas said cheerfully, waving goodbye to her. --------- ~Four Months Later~ Martha paced around the waiting room, a smile etching across her face. Mattie had gone into labour, and Martha, Jack, Alf, Tony, Lucas and Robbie were there, with Tasha being with Mattie. Tasha had become a godsend for Matilda, becoming the mother she didn’t have, she’d wanted both Martha and Tasha in, but Martha had shaken her head and said it was better for Tasha to go in. Tony looked at the sight of Tasha emerging, a grin over her face “How’d it go?” He asked, hurrying to her. “She had a little girl.” Tash said, smiling at them all. “What’s the baby’s name?” Jack asked her. “Danae-Lea Hunter.” Tasha told them, looking at their happy faces. “A little girl.” Martha said, grinning “Just like she wanted.” ------- “Hello!” Martha said cheerfully, giving Mattie a hug “How’s Danae?” She asked. “She’s good, from what I’ve heard.” Mattie said, looking ecstatic “I’m guessing mum didn’t come?” Mattie asked with a sigh. “No love, she didn’t.” Tony said reluctantly. “I didn’t expect her to anyway.” She said, waving off their sympathy. “Well, here she is.” Rachel said, smiling as she pushed Danae-Lea through. “She’s absolutely gorgeous.” Martha said, looking at the tiny bundle as she wrapped her arms around Jack. “She is.” Mattie said, gently pulling her daughter out of the hospital bassinette. “How’d you get her name?” Martha asked curiously. “My nanna Danae was born on this day.” She said softly “Danae is dad’s mother, and she and I were quite close until she left after a while. She’s English, and she left for England basically after dad left mum, because Dad went back to his home country after mum left with us kids. And Lea after nanna Danae’s daughter, Lea, who died in a motorbike accident when she was 23.” She said sadly. “Is she going to be called Danae, Lea, Dan for short?” Martha asked, looking at the tiny baby. “Nanna was called Dani for short.” She said, nodding. “So Danae-Lea Hunter.” Martha commented, leaning close to the little baby crib. ----- “Ric are you going to see her?” Cassie asked Ric at his house later on, hoping he would. Mattie was hoping he’d at least look at his only child. “I wasn’t planning on it.” He said flatly. “Ric you’re daughter was born two days ago, don’t you even want to see if she’s healthy? Danae-Lea is your daughter whether you like that or not.” She said firmly. “How about you just leave?” Ric’s girlfriend, Jessica, asked Cassie quite rudely “We’re busy and he doesn’t give a damn about that bitch’s daughter. Now shut up and leave us alone.” She snapped, grabbing the door and slamming it in Cassie’s face. Jess watched as Cassie left, then turned to Ric “Why was she here, to get you to see that kid?” She scoffed. “Yeah.” He said, rolling his eyes “It’s just a kid, why does Matilda think I’d want anything to do with any kid of hers?” He said, grabbing hold of Jessica. “She’s going to give you the daddy abandonment crap.” Jessica giggled. “I’m up for it. And sure as hell I’m abandoning that screaming brat. It’s mother deserves it.” He said, turning his attention to their dinner again. Jessica smiled as he turned, thrilled he wanted nothing to do with the filthy slut’s baby “I’ve got to ask though, what did you see in that cow that you went out with?” She asked curiously. “Nothing really, I saw it as a rebound relationship and Matilda saw it as love. Now she’s a twenty year old single mother to a complete brat. She was a brat, and so is that baby of hers.” He said, turning back to dinner once again, hoping he wouldn’t be bothered about Matilda’s kid anymore. NEXT UPDATE: Danae-Lea comes home, how does Matilda go?
Tasha Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 Rics a little ahole. Dani, cuteness. Im glad Kay is alright. Great chapter. And how dare Beth say its Marthas fault. Beth is such a cow, i hate her More please
-ParaisGal- Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 Chapter Twenty Five. “How does it feel to be home baby girl?” Mattie asked her week old daughter as she stopped the pram outside the apartment, grabbing her keys from her bag and shoving them in the door, then hurrying inside, keen to see what her relatives had done with the nursery “Don’t you like this Danae?” She asked her daughter, admiring everything “It’s well done.” She said, smiling at the yellow walls. The three bedroom apartment was perfect for her, and it was well furnished, thanks to Amanda, who’d taken Mattie under her wing. She looked at the crib, running her fingers along the smooth, strong pine wood “Nice.” She whispered “This must have cost a fortune.” She said, looking at the beautifully decorated crib, then the matching everything in the room. Amanda had certainly done up the place beautifully. “Like it?” Came a giggling voice from a corner. “Mac!” Matilda whirled around in surprise, looking slightly embarrassed “I didn’t see you there.” She said, quickly putting Danae in her crib without comment. “Obviously not or you would have been talking to me instead of yourself.” She said, dusting herself up as she tidied the room “I was supposed to get a warning so I wouldn’t be here but it obviously didn’t happen.” She grinned at her. “Who was supposed to warn you?” She asked, checking on her baby again. “My so-called husband, but obviously he didn’t feel like it.” She shrugged. She smiled as she noticed Mattie watching the crib “I did that all the time with Lillie, then with Mackenzie, then with Ebony. I still do it with them all.” She said softly, now looking towards Danae. “I can’t believe that Ebony is six months old.” She grinned at her. “I know, she’s growing so fast. Mac’s nearly three, and Lilliana is six. I have a six year old daughter, and I’m not even twenty five yet.” She said with a sigh. “You’re twenty five soon enough.” Mattie said, finally pulling the blanket over Danae as they left the room. “I never thought I’d see the day where I was ageing myself.” She said, grinning at her as she too, left the room. “No, but it makes sense. I’m pretty sure people bag you out heaps for being a 24 year old mother of three.” “They do actually, but I ignore it. And I’m sure you’ll have to. I’m sure I’d have gotten bagged out worse if I was a 24 year old single mother of three.” She said, shrugging “It’s the society we’re in today. Everyone still expects women to get married before they have kids, newsflash it rarely ever happens.” She sighed, hating the stereotypes. “I got it when I was getting visibly pregnant.” Matilda admitted “I hated being called a slut, women whispering to their children about me. They didn’t even know me.” She said, then looked at Martha “How about we get off that depressing subject?” She asked her. “Agreed.” She said, nodding to her. ------ “How are you handling everything?” Kit asked Mattie curiously three weeks after Danae-Lea’s birth. “It’s been fine, and Danae’s really good. She’s settled into routine very well.” She said, looking towards the nursery as she spoke. “Don’t worry she’ll be fine.” Kit said, smiling at her sister’s nerves. “I just don’t want to mess up.” Matilda said quietly. “You won’t. You’ve been going so well, and so has Danae.” She pointed out. “I know, but I mean if I mess up, Ric probably won’t be happy.” She said honestly. “Ric doesn’t give a damn about Danae-Lea. Face it Matilda, he’s the worst father you could have asked for, worse than dad, worse than everyone. The worst dad in the world would look amazing next to Ric.” She said, putting a hand on her sister’s shoulder. “I know.” She sighed “Why did I have to pick such a jerk to have a baby with?” She asked her oldest and only sister “I mean, why didn’t I stick with Lucas? If the baby was his, then he’d have stuck around and helped me.” She said, leaning back on her couch. “No, you don’t have Lucas and no, Lucas isn’t Danae-Lea’s dad. That is true in every sense of the word. But, Lucas is happy in his engagement to Belle, you understand that, don’t you?” Kit felt she had to ask her. “Of course I’m happy that he’s happy. Hell, if one of us can’t be happy surely the other can. But I guess I sort of regret not having Lucas as Dani’s father. I mean, he’d be helping me with the 2am wake ups, and be letting me sleep while he’d mind her. But it’s just me. Nobody but me and I hate that.” She said softly. “I can help.” She offered, looking at her sister’s eyes, and knowing she hadn’t had much sleep “You never do get much sleep with a baby in the house do you?” She mused, turning her attention to Mattie “Right, go have a sleep. I’ll mind Danae-Lea.” She promised. ----- ~One month later~ “She’s growing so fast. Too fast. It’s like someone’s speeding up the time.” Mattie whispered, holding her beloved daughter in her arms. “Don’t I know that feeling.” Martha grinned “I can never believe how fast Lillie grew, or Mackenzie and then Ebony. She’s growing almost too fast.” She sighed. “It’s kind of sad, but it’s kind of beautiful at the same time.” She said softly. “The beautiful part being the person you gave birth to growing up and becoming even more beautiful, if possible?” She asked, smiling. “Yeah, that.” She said smiling ----- “Hey what’s wrong?” Kit asked, looking at her mother sitting in the sand a few days later. “The fact that I made a huge mistake with my youngest child.” She said simply. “I’m glad you saw that.” Kit said, nodding. “So you hated me while I wasn’t talking to Matilda?” She asked wryly. “Yup. That pretty much sums it up. I mean, she’s handled motherhood amazingly. I wish I lived closer to help out more but I don’t.” She pointed out. “Yeah. Speaking of which, when are you moving up here permanently?” Beth asked. “Why do you ask?” Kit asked, surprised. “Well, you only come up for a few hours once a week. Do you have a busy job in the city?” Beth asked. “Uh, yeah I do.” Kit lied. “Really, what do you do?” Beth asked, noticing Kit seemed a bit nervous. “Nothing that important. Anyway, I’d better get going.” She said, excusing herself. NEXT UPDATE: Will Ric get more involved with Danae-Lea? And just how many secrets is Kit Hunter hiding from everyone?
