Most of these kind of movies can not be bought or seen but quite a few are uploaded to the internet, by their makers, in hope that it will attract more people.

This is exactly how Saw was pitched. If you have the 2 disc special of Saw then you can watch the 10 minutes movie that was given before it was made into a full film. It pretty much got the point of the movie across.
