Chapter 9:Why is life so cruel?

Jack and Martha walked up to the front door with Martha holding a sleeping Katie and Jack holding Martha’s bag,

Jack unlocked the front door and they walked inside,

Martha smiled it was good to be home she hated the hospital,

“Wow it feels good to be home” she said walking over to the coach and sitting down with Katie still resting in her arms Jack came over and sat down beside her, Martha adjusted herself so Jacks arms were wrapped around her, they both looked down at there little girl, they were so caught up in there own little world that they didn’t see the figure standing looking through the window planning there next move,

Waaaaaa the screams of three week old Katie filled the room as Martha threw the cover off herself and stood up scooping the little baby up into her arms,

“What’s the matter, hey” she cooed to the little girl, “Are you hungry” she asked as she grabbed a baby blanket and headed out into the lounge room but stopped in her tracks when she opened the door to find the living room completely trashed couches upside down and things thrown and broken everywhere,

“Jack” she yelled terrified

Jack opened his eyes and made his way over to a terrified Martha holding a crying Katie he was shocked the house was a complete mess “what happened here” he said shocked?”

“I think we both know” she said “is he ever going to give this up is he ever going to leave us alone”

Jack sighed and ran his fingers through his hair he couldn’t think while Kate was screaming her lungs out she wanted to be fed and she wanted to be fed now, she didn’t understand what was going on”

Jack turned to look at Martha “you go back in there and feed her and I’ll get onto Peter”

Martha nodded and headed back into the bedroom as Jack made his way to the phone and dialled Peters number,

“Hi, yeah Peter its Jack Ash is up to his old tricks we’ve just had a break in”

“Ok thanks, yeah see you then “he said hanging up and letting out a frustrated sigh as he turned on his heel and walking in the direction of the bedroom,

“Hey” he said as he walked through the door to find Martha feeding a now quite happy Katie but had tears of fear flowing freely down her face the normally strong and feisty girl he knew was now a frightened wreck,

“Hey” he said moving quickly over to the bed “it’ll be alright I won’t let him hurt you” he said

Martha shook her head “I’m not worried about me, I’m worried about Katie” she said looking down at the bundle in her arms “he is not going to hurt us Jack he wants to hurt us and he wants us to hurt bad and he’s going to get to us through Katie and there is nothing we can do”

“Martha listen to me” he said sternly “he is not going to hurt her or me or you, ok” he said looking at her”

Martha nodded she wanted to believe what he was saying so much but she just couldn’t bring herself too she had a bad feeling and it wasn’t going away she knew he would stop at nothing to get to her and she didn’t know how far he would go to get payback”

Half an hour later Martha was laying in Jacks arms on there bed, Katie had fallen back to sleep so Martha had put her back in her bassinette next to the bed when they heard A knock at the door,

“That’ll be Peter” he said jumping off the bed and heading towards the door,

Martha pulled herself up off the bed and started to make her way to the door but stopped and turned around and hurried over to the bassinette, slipping her hands gently under her she gently picked her up and carried her out of the bedroom,

“Hey Martha how are you” Peter asked

Martha shrugged “as good as can be expected I spose” she said

“What are you going to do about this Peter this has got to stop we have a baby to worry about here” he said starting to get annoyed,

“I know” Peter said “we’re putting in everything to find Ash but he’s just to good” he said,

“Now we’re going to go over this place you guys just try and relax”

“RELAX!!!” Martha yelled “how do you expect us to relax” she said raising her voice a little too loudly because seconds later Katie’s cries echoed through the room

“Oh my God” Martha said as it all got to much for her turned to Jack and placed the crying baby into his arms and headed out the door,

“I’ll be back” Jack said turning to Peter and placing Katie in his arms and running out the door to catch up with Martha,

“Ja…” Peter started but Jack had already disappeared out the door

“Well it looks like it’s just you and me” he said to the little baby in his arms

When she started crying “whoa, whoa, whoa, whys she doing that” Peter said turning to Lara,

Lara shook her head “men are hopeless” she said taking Katie from his arms and carrying her into the nursery to change her while Pater started looking for evidence, anything to suggest where Ash was.

“Martha!” Jack called down the beach to her as she continued to run “stop” he yelled

As he saw her drop to the sand,

As he caught up with her he sat down beside her and wrapped his arms around her tightly,

“I don’t know how much more of this I can take” she said sobbing into his chest “we just never have a break it’s just constant and I can’t take it anymore why is life being so cruel to us?, what did we do so wrong to deserve this?” she asked him through her sobs “I don’t know how much more of this I can take” she said as Jack sat there wondering what he could do to make everything better again but for once in his life he had no idea what to do…..

“Hey sorry all they had was mud cake I know how much you…” Martha said sarcastically but stopped when she saw the beautifully decorated candle lit dinner that awaited her,

“Hello” Jack said as she arrived at the door,

“What’s going on?” she asked

“I know the last couple of months have been really hard on you so I thought it’d be nice for us to just to have a nice relaxing dinner just the two of us”

“Two, Jack where’s Katie” she asked,

“Don’t worry she’s safe Dad and Beth are looking after her so you just relax and forget about everything,

“Ok” Martha said sitting down,

“Wine?” he asked her

“Thanks” she said with a smile somehow when he was around everything just seemed to be right like nothing could go wrong.

Martha and Jack were lying in bed holding hands and talking,

“Thankyou” she said “I really needed just one peaceful night with all that’s going on I just needed a bit of a wind down,

“It’s ok I like to make you happy” he said,

Really she said turning round to face him with a cheeky smile on her face,

“Really” he said back,

“Why don’t you show me” she said starting to kiss him when there was a loud knock on the door,

Jack let out a loud groan “just one night is all we ask” he said looking up at the roof,

Martha let out a small giggle “don’t worry just go and see who it is the sooner you do that the sooner we can get back to what we have started,

“Fine” he said reluctantly getting up and pulling on a pair of pants he exited the room.

Jack opened the door,

“Luc” he said “this better be good mate”

“It’s not he said” hesitating what he was about to say was going to be hard,

“What is it mate” Jack said getting anxious,

“It’s about...” he said but was cut off by Martha,

“Jack who is it” she yelled as she made her way out into the lounge room in a pair of little shorts and a singlet with her sating night gown over the top,

“Oh hey Luke what’s up?” she asked with a huge smile on her face, Lucas looked at her he hadn’t seen her that happy in ages he didn’t want to do this but he knew it had to be said they had to be told sooner rather that later,

“Me and Mattie just got home from the movie and Dad and Beth were tied up to chairs with tape over there mouths and…”

All of a sudden Martha felt like a ton of bricks had just been dropped on her head and her heart had been ripped out and torn into a million pieces “Luke what about Katie?” she asked with tears in her eyes where is she?” she asked dreading the answer she would get,

“I’m sorry Martha I don’t know they took her”

“WHO?” Martha yelled “WHO TOOK MY BABY!!!?” she yelled as she dropped to the floor as Jack came over to her and brought her into his arms as she cried she had honestly never felt pain like this before it was like there were a million knives stabbing her in the heart over and over again “where is she?” she sobbed “what has he done to her?” she cried harder than she had ever cried before,

Jack held her tight as tears started to fall down his own face he too felt like nothing in the world mattered anymore none of this seemed real he looked down at the fragile body in his arms who ever did this was going to pay, no one was ever going to get away with his family and he meant no-one!,

“How did you go?”

“All went exactly to plan” Ashton Nader said with a huge grin on his face,

“So this is the famous Holden baby hey” he said taking the baby into his arms,

“Yep” Ash exclaimed extremely happy with his days work,

“Good work bro” Corey exclaimed turning to look at his brother with an evil smile “excellent work”

Kah!!!!!!!!!! Pink i hate you. Corey, you brought back the loser. Kah! Jacky go save your baby, and go save her IMMEDIATELY! Poor poor Martha. I swear, everyone is mean to her in their fics. What did she ever do to any of you -cries- Great chapt htough

I was in stitches over this:

“Jack” she said softly still in shock she looked over he was fast asleep “Jack” she said again raising her voice,

“Just five more minutes” he said turning over,

“Jack” Martha said again getting frustrated “my water broke”

“Then we’ll get you another one”

It was very well written, Jacks comment made me laugh so much

Great update, im off to read the next chapter, then il post again..

The last sentance freaks me out though, 'At that moment everything was perfect' - What the hell does that mean! I guess il go and read to find out

Edit---AH! There brothers thats so funny! But in a very bad way!

Yet again another great chapter, I could sense something was about to go wrong....Martha and Jack just cant get two minutes alone can they!

I have just read the last few chapters...and I would like to say Congrats on Jack and Martha on the birth of baby Katie...aww how cute.

OMG...I can't believe Ashton and Corey are working together...why can't they leave Jack and Martha alone.

Hopefully Jack and Peter will find the evil that is Ash and Corey and put them away behind bars and throw away the key...and that they find baby Katie safe and sound.
