Jack sat there shocked. "She's right." He thought to himself.

"Hey Jack, where's Martha." Jack turned to see Zoe.

"Oh, she had to go. She said there was work she needed to attend to." He lied.

"Oh ok." Zoe said. "Is it me or do you think she was a bit edgy?"

"It must be you!" Jack said trying to laugh it off. "I'm sure she's fine, probably the break up with Craig or something."

"Yeah your right." Zoe smiled as she gave Jack a kiss.

"I'm always right." He told her grinning.

Martha sat there thinking. She thought about what she had said to Jack before and how Zoe was being so nice to her. She couldn't take any of it. Every time she saw Jack with Zoe she couldn't help but break down. She had to get away from it all. From Jack. From Zoe, from all the lying. All of it. She stood up from her bed and took down the suit case from on top of her wardrobe. She then opened her wardrobe and started to take some clothes out.

"I didn't think women had this many clothes." She heard a voice.

She turned around. "What are you doing here? I didn't say you could come in." She said coldly.

"I came to see you. I wanted to appologise." He told her. "I didn't mean to shout at you before. Its just I don't know how I'm going to tell Zoe. Its going to break her heart."

"Don't worry you don't have to tell her." She told him as she carried on packiing.

"What?" Jack asked puzzled.

"I'm going." She told him simply.

"What. No. Where?"

"I'm leaving the bay. I'm going to the city. The thought of us lying to Zoe, makes me feel so bad. I don't want to do it. I can't do it."

"But Martha...I love you..."

"No!" She cried. "You love Zoe."

"Martha, believe me. I'm in love with you not Zoe. I've never felt like this about anyone else in my life. You can't leave."

"I'm sorry Jack."

“What do you mean, ‘sorry’?” Jack asked.

“I mean Jack how is this going to work? You havn’t told Zoe yet. I feel like a right b**** pretending to be great friends with her and on top of all of this Zoe thinks that you and her are going to be happy families.”

“Martha please.” Jack pleaded. “I love you.”

“Jack.” She cried. “I love you too. You know I do. But things are too complicated.” She insisted.

“It won’t be. Martha give me a week, that’s all I ask. If I havn’t told Zoe by now then it’s over.” He begged.

Martha sighed. “Ok.”

“Thank you.” He smiled lightly as he gave her a hug.

“But Jack, I’m still going away for a while.”

Jack’s face dropped. “What?” He asked.

“Don’t worry. It won’t be for long. A week maybe two.”

“Ok. I guess it may be easier for me to tell Zoe.” He admitted.

“Look, I better get going, I’ll see you when you get back.” She told him.

“I’ll see you gorgeous.” He said as he gave her a soft kiss on the lips, which Martha happily returned.

One thing then led to another and they fell in to bed together. Martha now knew she could go away after that she needed to be there for him when he ended things with Zoe if she went it would look like she was guilty but all she was guilty off was falling in love.

“I’m going to tell Zoe today” Jack told her out of the blue

“You sure you don’t have to” Martha said as she was resting on Jacks chest

“Yep” Jack said

“Well I was thinking im still going to go it may seem like im running away but im not” she said to him

“Its ok I understand” he told her

“By the time you get back me and Zoe will be over” he promised her.

“Hey Zoe.” Jack greeted as he walked into his house.

“Hey.” She smiled as she walked through the kitchen. “I’ve just cooked dinner.”

“Oh darling you should have told me. I have some bad news.”

“What is it? Is everything ok?” She asked.

“I have to go to the city for a bit.” He lied. “There’s a case that they need help on.”

“Aww when do you have to go?” She asked disappointed.

“Now.” He lied. “Sorry Babe.” He said.

“Its ok.” She said as she walked back into the kitchen.

“I better get packing.” He told her.

“Coming.” Martha shouted as she went to open her door. To her surprise it was Jack. “Jack.” She smiled as she gave him a hug. “What are you doing here?”

“Hey. I came to see you. I thought we could spend some time together and we won’t have to keep hiding.”

“Oh Jack…That’s great.” She laughed, as he came in. “I don’t suppose you’ve told Zoe yet?” She asked.

“I will as soon as I get back.” He told her.

Martha nodded. “Come here, sexy.” She said as she pulled him towards the stairs.

“I’m not going to argue with that!” He laughed as he let her seduce him for the second time that day.

Although... i hardly blame them!

Great chapter, i feel bad for Zoe though, and Jacks just stringing her along! How could he be so heartless
