Whoa, and I thought Bartlett was a jerk.

Once again, the effect of skirting around the word rape makes the direction of a conversation only believable because the word isn't used. Which is in itself, paradoxically, unbelievable. Had Libby said that Chris tried to rape Bridget, Andrew would have removed that incident from the basis for his deciision immediately. Not that basing it on her shoving Justin to the floor was any better.

And on that subject, what the hell has changed since 1993? Episode #2000, Julie told Philip that her biological father didn't love her mother, he raped her. Her exact words. They didn't use it for Izzy, Rebecca, Bridget, or any of the stories on Home and Away, except for that one episode where Belle found rohypnol or something similar in Kelli's bag.

Yeah, the only thing I can think of is that at that time Neighbours was a lot more adult during 91-94, as in the writers specifically wrote for a more adult audience. I don't see why they cant use the word rape now though.

They have tightened up the restrictions for G rated programming since the early 90s. Words like "rape", "abortion" etc can absolutely not be used.

It isridiculous and does a disservice to stories that should be able to be explored fully. I find the classification system too rigid anyway but in the 'G' instance it's extreme. I understand not showing more violence or sex but allowing characters to talk frankly is not something that is going to harm a child.

It gets back to the fact that parents should simply be vigilant about what they do/do not want their kids to watch instead of imposing such arbitrary resctrions. Particularly if this stuff was perfectly acceptable 'G' material until the 90s.

Can I just ask as I may have forgotten something but what did Sam do to warrant such hatred from Libby and Steph and pretty much everyone else? I know she went a bit crazy but that was because she was ill. The only crime I can see she's commited was trying to make a go of things with her husband.

And then, she stood back and told him to move on and start a new life with Libby. And they were trying to have a baby before she left so it's not like she deliberately got pregnant to trap him.

Ok so her timing could have been better and obviously Libby is going to be upset but I don't understand why they are treating her like she's done something so terrible. And when Sam said 'I guess I've burnt all my bridges' I had no idea what she was referring to.

Am I forgetting something?

I didn't realise how much I hated Steph until tonight. I hate the way she treats Elle as well and when she told Elle that her friend better watch herself.

I don't really understand what Sam's done either. I love Sam. As far as I'm aware, Lucas told Sam that Dan and Libby were getting married, so Sam did know that they were getting married. I'm not too sure though, I only saw bits of it tonight. But I understand what you mean, it's just like all this hate has come from nowhere.
