Lilone Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 Chapter 4 Peter unlocked his car and got into the driver’s seat, slamming the door angrily. Why did his life always turn out a mess? He rolled down the window to get some air and went to start the ignition, but was stopped by a hand reaching through the open window and pulling the keys from his hand. He looked up, surprised, and found Clare watching him with a worried but half-amused smile on her face. “You walk pretty slow,” was all she said as she opened the door. He just looked at her for a moment, and she looked right back. He would have driven away, but she had his keys. He sighed heavily and got out of the car, allowing Clare to close the door behind him. She then locked it and slipped his keys into her pocket. “Let’s get a coffee.” “So,” Peter said about ten minutes later, as he and Clare sat in a nearby café drinking coffee. “What happened? I mean, last thing I remember I was in the pub.” “Yeah, getting sloshed,” she reminded him. “I was there. I saw the state you were in.” “I ran out …” he said slowly, as things started to come back to him. “And you – you followed me, didn’t you?” “To the park. And you were a wreck. So I took you back to my place.” “Why?” “What did you want me to do – let you sleep on a bench?” she shot at him, and he laughed. She always did know how to cheer him up. “You shouldn’t have had to see me like that,” he said. “Not after the way I treated you. You don’t need to listen to me going on about her, or anything else.” “You know, I treated you so badly,” Clare said. “I mean, I loved you so much, but I know I let that stupid job get the better of me. And I know you wanted to go back to the Bay, for visits … I’m not saying I’m happy, but … well, I can’t blame you completely.” “Even if that were true, which it’s not, I don’t want to drag you into my problems.” “After last night, you can consider me well and truly dragged,” she joked. “Spill.” “I just … I can’t believe I fell for her lies, you know? I thought she loved me. We were married, Clare. Well, I guess we still are, technically. But she broke my heart, Clare.” Peter was ashamed, but yet again, he had tears pouring down his cheeks. Clare reached across the table and squeezed his hand comfortingly as he cried in the middle of the café. “She really broke my heart!” Amanda walked into the hospital, looking around her nervously. If Rachel or anyone else saw her she would be done for. Her life wouldn’t be worth living. Belle thought she had gone to the shops for some groceries. What a pack of lies. She hurried up the stairs to the third floor and entered her doctor’s office, keeping her head down. It was an agonising four minutes before the doctor sat down opposite her, opening the file. “Well?” Amanda demanded. “What does it say? Just get it over with.” “Congratulations, Amanda,” said the doctor. “We were right. Your illness wasn’t anywhere near as serious as we thought – in fact, I’d say it’s good news, if anything!” Amanda buried her head in her hands. This couldn’t be happening to her. “Here, sit down,” Clare said, throwing her keys on the table as she and Peter entered her house. “You look like you could use a stiff drink.” “Are you kidding me? My head’s still killing me from last night.” “Well then a small stiff drink ought to do. Come on, have a seat.” She went over to the side and poured them both a drink, and handed him one as she came and sat down. “You really love her, don’t you?” she asked him softly. He sighed. “I wish I didn’t,” he said truthfully. “I wish there was some way to get over her. I wish I had never fallen for her in the first place. She’s poisonous. And I let her fool me.” “You know you deserve so much more than her, Pete. You deserve to be happy.” “Right now, I reckon you’re the only person in the world who thinks that.” Peter sighed heavily and took another drink. Clare bit her lip for a moment, and then she leaned in impulsively and kissed him softly, right on the lips. Promo: What will Pete’s reaction be to the kiss? What is Amanda’s shock news? Aw, Peter/Clare are really cute. See, they know each other too well. She even knows how to cheer him up when no one else can. And people wonder why I think they're meant to be. Aw, it's so cute that she kisses him... Why am I not surprised at the both of you for leaving it as a cliffhanger? Anyway, update soon and this time, tell us.

I see Claire's plan here Take care of pete, let pete unwind and tell her everything get pete to drink some alcohol so he doesn't know what he is doing and then take advantage of pete. I wonder whether Pete wants it to continue, with Alli being one of the writers i think it will. I'm still wondering about this shock news lol I don't know what Drew will do next, he could run away from the bay possibly? Can't wait for more.

As for Pete well hes a twit to run from Clare again. Chapt 4. *goes and reads it and will edit this post* -edits- Pete and Clare kissing? I'm gonna take a wilde guess and say Amanda is pregnant, I'm probably wrong though Great Chapt's girlies
