Lilone Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Considering my partner writing this fic finally sent me her chapter I will update Dan grabbed his keys as he told Belle: “Belle, I’m coming now. Call triple-0 and wait with your mum.” Dan jumped in his car, speeding towards Amanda’s house. As Dan raced through the front door, he saw Belle holding Amanda in her arms. She looked weak, but she was conscious. Clare and Pete made their way back to Clare’s house, barely talking to one another, but that came down to not knowing what to say or where to start the conversation. Just as they were about to head into the house Pete stopped. “Clare, I don’t think I can go in.” “Everything will be ok …” “No, I can’t do it Clare, I just … can’t we go somewhere else?” Clare started to think for a second, before remembering the café about 15 minutes away: the same café they stopped in the day Pete proposed to her. “Get in,” Clare said, as she opened the car door. Dan and Belle waited outside the hospital room as Rachel walked towards them. “Is mum going to be ok?” “We’re running a few tests now, but from what you’ve told us, she fainted because she was dehydrated.” Dan could tell by Rachel’s reaction that something was not quite right, so he decided to let Belle see Amanda while he talked to Rachel in private. “Rach, come on, what’s really wrong with her?” “Dan you will have to ask Amanda. I can’t tell you” About an hour had passed until Belle eventually walked out of Amanda’s room. “Dan I have to collect Ryan from Colleen. Can you stay with mum until I get back?” “Sure,” Dan said, walking into the room watching Belle leave. “You just have to have all the attention, don’t you?” Dan joked. “Dan I’m sorry, I know that I’ve hurt Pete, but you have to know that I love him and I will never stop. I’ll never forgive myself.” “Look Amanda, you have hurt my brother and I will never forgive you for that. He has left the Bay because he can’t stand the pain of living near you!” Amanda’s face dropped as the words ‘left the Bay’ repeated in her mind. “But he can’t just up and leave,” she muttered to herself, not realising how loudly she actually said it. “What, you expect him to stay around after everything you put him through, do you?” Amanda just stayed silent, placing her hand on her stomach; not even realising she was doing it. She was in her own little world, lost in thoughts. “You’re not?” Dan squealed at a high-pitched voice. Amanda giving him a blank look gave Dan the answer. “What? How long have you known?” “Not long!” Amanda assured him. Dan slowly started to sit on the chair behind him; he couldn’t believe what Amanda had just told him or what he had just worked out. “Pete’s the dad, right?” Dan asked. “I don’t know, I haven’t had time to work the times out.” “You mean, as in the times you slept with my brother, and the time you cheated on him with that lowlife!” “I don’t know, ok Dan?!” “No, Amanda, Pete has always wanted a family; a family that he could watch grow up and he be a part of. If there is a slight chance he is the dad, I want you to tell him today.” “Dan I need to get my head sorted: I can’t think straight!” “Well if you don’t, I will,” Dan shot at her. Pete and Clare arrived at the café; Pete just gave Clare a small smile as he said: “Thank you”. “Well I know that you like the flat whites in here so why not?” she laughed, before getting out of the car. “You gave me a scare at the hill, you know.” “I’m sorry, Clare, I really am.” “I forgive you, and it just means you paying for the drinks,” she laughed. They both paid for the drinks and headed over to a picnic bench away from the rest of the customers. “You know, when I sat on that hill and looked down, I just kept thinking about last year.” “What about last year?” asked Clare, sitting next to Pete on the bench. “Last year, the time in my life that I knew my love was strong for you.” “I never stop thinking about us Pete. When I was with you, I felt the excitement ripping through my body everyday of the week; the passion we shared … it was amazing.” “I know I’m amazing,” Pete said, looking lovingly into her eyes. “We can still have the passion and excitement, Pete” “What, after everything that is happened?” “Pete, I love you, and that’s all that counts. That’s, if you want us to try again?” Pete placed his flat white on the table, putting his hand under Clare’s chin before leaning forward and kissing her on the lips. Promo: Will Dan tell Peter?
aejdude Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Great chapter. So the news is that Amanda is pregnant! I wonder whether it is Pete's that will totally ruin stuff for him and Clare. I think Dan may allow Amanda to tell him herself, or if not he will probably tell him. Actually, i can't see Pete wanting to talk Amanda if he doesn't know what it is about maybe Dan tells him some of it and Amanda tells him the rest?
allibaz91 Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Lol yes, Amanda is pregnant you're getting too good at this ! Thanks for rubbing it in that I took forever with that one, Lil! Can't help it if I have tons of schoolwork right now Thanks for reviewing, Aaron!

swfc Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Chrissie did you just say you wanted Pete to OD?!?! I am so not impressed! Heehee... I wanted more drama.... And, speaking of drama, I am so not impressed at all. Amanda pregnant? Geez. And here I thought she was dying from some kind of rare disease or something. No drama whatsoever. Well, she's pregnant... Woopee for everyone. Peter/Clare.... too cute but for some stupid reason, I'm guessing there will be obstacles along the way.... That is if they even bother to get back together. Uhm, I think she'll tell him just for the drama [like breaking up Clete if they get together or Peter finding out he's not the daddy]. And, if she doesn't tell him, Dan will tell and then all hell will break loose and once again more drama. Right, I give up. I'm no good at guessing these kind of things. I'm only good at guessing people dying [Long story, don't ask. ] P/S: A big thank you must go to Lil for telling me about this update.
allibaz91 Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Lol you just love drama, don;t you Chrissie? Thanks for commenting guys - will update again soon!
allibaz91 Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Small teaser: “Dan, please …” Amanda tried to reason with him, but he wouldn’t have it. “No. He’s my brother – you’ve lied to him enough. You have to tell him, Amanda!” “But he hates me – and if he’s not the father, it’ll only hurt him all over again!” “It’s a bit late for you to be considering his feelings now,” snapped Dan angrily.
aejdude Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Great teaser. Looks like what i thought was right that Dan is going to get Amanda to tell him.
swfc Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Go Dan! Standing up for your brother. Now that's what I call brotherly love. Lol you just love drama, don;t you Chrissie? I thought you would've known that by now, Ali.
Lilone Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Chapter 8 So what if they were in the middle of a public place? Did it really matter if a bunch of strangers could see them kissing? No, it didn’t, really. Not at first, anyway. So for the next little while – a few minutes, at least – Peter and Clare just sat there, leaning over the bench, kissing rather passionately. But just when things started to get interesting, as Peter slipped his tongue inside Clare’s mouth, she pulled away. At first he thought he had scared her off, but then she bit her lip and smiled. “Let’s go back to my place.” “Dan, please …” Amanda tried to reason with him, but he wouldn’t have it. “No. He’s my brother – you’ve lied to him enough. You have to tell him, Amanda!” “But he hates me – and if he’s not the father, it’ll only hurt him all over again!” “It’s a bit late for you to be considering his feelings now,” snapped Dan angrily. Right then, Belle walked into the room. She looked between them, confused. “Uh, Ryan’s outside, Mum …” she said unsurely, glancing at Dan. “Everything okay?” “Fine, sweetheart,” Amanda lied. “Bring your brother in. And you,” she said to Dan as Belle left, “don’t say a word. I’ll talk to you later.” “Hang on, let me unlock the door,” Clare laughed as Peter kissed her neck, pressing her up against her front door. He grinned and continued to do it, and when she finally managed to unlock the door, they both half-fell through it into the hall. “You,” she said, kissing him all over his face, “are a very impatient man.” “I just can’t believe what a fool I’ve been,” he said softly. “I’ve missed you like crazy.” “Mm, me too,” she said. “But that doesn’t mean you should stop me getting in the door!” “Can I help it if you’re so damn irresistible?” “Well, when you put it like that …” They both laughed as Peter pulled Clare into his arms, kissing her lovingly. She slipped her arms around his neck and kissed him back, until a few moments later his phone started to ring. He ignored it, but Clare pulled away. “Aren’t you going to answer that?” she asked him. “I doubt it’s anything important,” he said, kissing her face. She smiled, and reached into his jacket pocket and took out his phone, looking at the screen. “It’s your son,” she told him, handing it to him. He took it, looking blankly at the screen. “Answer it,” she said, smiling reassuringly. “I’ll meet you in the bedroom.” She kissed him tenderly on the lips and left him to it. He sighed heavily and picked up. “G’day, mate,” he said. “What’s up?” “Dad, my battery died – what was all that about before? Are you okay?” “Yeah, don’t worry about me, I’m fine. I just had a bad moment, but it’s all okay now.” “Are you sure?” Drew sounded really worried. Peter felt a wave of guilt wash over him. “Positive. And I won’t be coming out with anything like that again, I promise.” “Dad … when are you coming home?” Drew asked him. “I’m worried about you.” “You don’t have to be. And I don’t think I can face Amanda just yet. I need a little more time here, to just … get my head together,” he said, thinking guiltily of Clare. “Yeah, Dad, about Amanda … I got a call from Dan a while back. She’s in hospital.” And much to his surprise, Peter didn’t feel anything. Not concern, not distress, not even a little twinge. He really must be getting somewhere with Clare’s help. “Wow … is she okay?” he asked, more out of politeness than any real concern. “I’m not sure, to be honest. You don’t sound too bothered,” Drew noted. “I guess I’ve finally accepted what she’s like, mate,” Peter said, trying to put into words what he didn’t fully understand himself. “And I know she isn’t worth worrying over.” “Okay then …” It was no surprise Drew wasn’t fully convinced. “Look, I have to go, mate,” Peter said quickly, not wanting a full debate. “I’ll give you a call soon, yeah? And seriously, don’t worry about me. This is what I needed.” “I love you, Dad,” said Drew sadly. Peter smiled. “I love you too, mate. Talk soon.” Dan paced up and down outside the hospital room waiting for Belle and Ryan to leave. If Amanda wasn’t going to tell Peter, then he most certainly was. Somebody had to do it. He could be a father – again. And Amanda wanted to lie to him about it. It wasn’t right! Just as if they had read his mind, Ryan and Belle came out just then. They said a quick goodbye and Dan went straight back in to talk to Amanda. “You have to tell him,” he said, feeling like this was the millionth time. “I can’t do it, Dan. I know he’s your brother – but if this isn’t his baby, he’ll be hurt even more, all over again. I don’t think that’s fair either,” Amanda pleaded. “And if it is his baby he’ll hate you – and me! – for lying to him!” Dan snapped. “Well I don’t care, he hates me anyway! I won’t tell him, Dan, and you can’t make me!” “Fine then, but don’t say I didn’t give you every chance,” he warned her. Before she could reply, he turned on his heel and left the room angrily. He grabbed his phone from his pocket as he left the hospital, and went through his address book until he found ‘Pete.’ He only hesitated a moment before pressing ‘Call’ … Promo: Will Peter eventually find out about Amanda’s baby? How will Drew react to his father’s news?
