Lesley Bee Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Another gripping ep tonight, poor Ashley cant believe he's gone. I reckon Sunita looks in a pretty bad way as well and Molly, and as for Rita, no one even knows she's there Quote
Red Ranger 1 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) Things are looking better for Sunita, Molly could go either way.Did Nick or Ashley get out?Nick, possibly.Ashley, probably not.I thought the smoke was going to get him for a bit there.Last few minutes were unbearably tense, you just knew when Ashley left that message for Claire that he realised he wasn't gonna make it.I really can't see them killing Rita, I mean...it's Rita.If they were going to kill her, they'd make an episode of it, not have her part of the line-up in a mini-massacre.(Has Corrie ever done a mini-massacre before?Nothing springs to mind...)Peter's still not out of the woods yet, has to be said. And is baby Jack the cutest soap baby ever or what?! Wanted to see the 50 Years special but it was a busy night.Might catch it on ITV Player at some point. I caught a bit of it and it actually looked very good rather than focusing on the last ten years like that sort of thing usually does.Did anyone catch the decannual repeat of the first episode on Monday?I watched it on the 30th and 40th anniversaries so I didn't bother but nice of them to show it again. Zetti Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Aww Jack is so adorably cute. The way he was smiling at Kevin when they were in the corner shop.. I think Ashley's a goner Quote
Nathan. Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Yes, Ashley's dead. Not a spoiler. It has been confirmed on the official site. Quote
-Kevin- Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 Wow, Corries live episode tonight was nothing short of outstanding! It didn't even feel like it was live! When Eastenders did their live episode the filming looked really live but with Corrie it looked like a normal episode. Some amazing acting from the cast, in particular Vicky Binns,Jane Danson,Katherine Kelly and Julia Haworth. The aftermath of Ashley's death was written so well, as was Molly's final scenes. Vicky really excelled as an actress in her final moments, I was most definitely not expecting her to put in such a performance! I was really dissapointed that Sally took her hands away from her when she revealed that Kevin is Jack's father, it would have been nice to hold her hand as she died.I felt a huge sense of sorrow for Molly, and as much as shes annoyed me over the past couple of years I don't think she deserved to go like that. I found all the Fiz scenes really funny, if anything they were like comedy relief for me amongst all the drama Its not looking good for Peter is it ? Although I'm sure he will pull through! Really looking forward to fridays episode now to wrap up what was a sensational week of Coronation Street, they should be proud of it Quote
Nathan. Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 (edited) How far in advance are regular Coronation Street episodes filmed? Edited December 10, 2010 by Nathan. Quote
alexx Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 (edited) I felt very sorry for Molly that she died feeling hated - I just wish Sally had held her hand as she passed. I'm intrigued by how Sally will take the news and looking forward to seeing how Kevin and Tyrone react. I wish Molly hadn't died because I liked her. Ashley and Claire haven't really featured much since I've been watching but that storyline was tragic, the phone message in the pub was one of my favorite moments of the episode. I dislike Leanne, again I haven't seen Peter and her together for very long but the way she went behind his back with Nick really flippantly I dont have much sympathy for her. The actress is brilliant though. The murder of that crazy woman is really interesting, I've gone back to watch how this storyline started and its been wacky and comical almost like a black comedy at times, yet very dark and sinister. There are so many unlikeable personalty traits with these characters but that makes the show all the more interesting. The live episode was pretty much flawless, I did have a problem hearing the dialogue at times but all in all it went really smoothly. Edited December 10, 2010 by alexx Quote
Zetti Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 How far in advance are regular Coronation Street episodes filmed? About 6-8 weeks Quote
Red Ranger 1 Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 I'm still somewhat annoyed that they killed Ashley, one of the nicest blokes in the show:Having given him and Claire nothing to do for about two years, I'd have liked a happy ending. And the scenes of Claire in the caff did feel a bit cliched. But the scenes in the Rovers were a fitting tribute, with Julia Haworth getting the best material she's had in ages, Steve's little speech, Hayley describing them as soul mates and anything involving Graeme. He'll be missed. I'd say it's becoming increasingly obvious who the fatalities are, even if a couple of them are unconfirmed.Given that the Chris Gascoyne version of Peter made his first appearance in the live episode ten years ago, it'll be kind of fitting if that was his last appearance.I haven't been a fan of the Leanne/Nick affair but the scene where she tells him she's marrying Peter was brilliant.Carla's quiet farewell to him was great too:Ironically, if she and Nick hadn't wanted to split him and Leanne up, Peter and Ashley wouldn't have been in that office, they'd have been in the bar with the others and would probably have been all right. By the way, is there some sort of illness going round?Deirdre vanished for about two months and was noticeably absent here, as if they weren't sure Anne Kirkbridge could cope with it, and now Liz seems to have done the same thing. When they brought up that they needed the father for the blood donor, I thought it was a bit obvious but it had to come out somehow. Then I realised Molly was actually going to tell Sally. Was not expecting that at all. Least said about Becky stealing from the shop the better:Frankly, on the evidence of that, Max is just as likely to grow up a thief with her as a role model than Kylie.Really hope Steve finds out and puts a stop to it. Best surprise of the night:Amy Searles is back!Who, you all ask?She plays the police officer who found John with Charlotte. Can't remember the last time I saw her character. As for it being live...only thing that really stood out was, did they nearly kill Sally Dynevor?!There was a bit where the cutting machine seemed to start up unexpectedly and the guy playing the fireman suddenly pushed her head down and held her there until it cut away.Don't think they were expecting that... Nathan. Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 How far in advance are regular Coronation Street episodes filmed? About 6-8 weeks So does that mean Wednesday and Friday's episodes were filmed 6-8 weeks ago and Thursday's episode was filmed on Thursday? It must have been extremely difficult for them to set up the wreckage again just for the live episode. Continuity would have been so hard! Not to mention they'd be bringing back Vicky Binns to film her final scenes after a 6-8 week absence. Quote
