Chapter 3

Amanda could explode in her body; it felt her whole insides were being torn out. She loved Peter so much but she should have never left Ryan on his own. How was she going to get inside? She was in so much panic she forgot to phone the ambulance. She went round all the windows, to check if they were open. Shaking them violently, they still wouldn’t budge, not one window. Amanda hoped it wouldn’t have to come to this, but it did. She searched around her drive to find a large stone or even a rock. She found one, took a pause, then threw the stone as hard as she could. It smashed into the window, glass falling everywhere.

Amanda smashed the glass with her foot, so she could fit through the small gap. As her leg brushed past the glass, it scratched her, she winced in pain but kept going. She was in.

Amanda ran over to Ryan, he was still breathing. She let out a sigh of relief, then phoned the ambulance straight away.

She took Ryan’s hand, just waiting for the paramedics, it seemed like a lifetime. There was a knock at the door.

“It’s okay now, you’re safe,” she reassured Ryan.
