Actually I was just about to say that I'm glad she didn't. I really like that Ailsa's death was so understated - the fact that it was such a 'normal' way to die (by soap standards anyway) made it even more heartbreaking somehow. That's what the show misses when it goes OTT.

It wasn't her cause of death that was wrong, it was the way it was written. It wasn't an exit storyline, it was an exit scene, which is pretty disgusting for a character who's been around 13 years. All the good stuff that would have been heartbreaking (paramedics arriving, Duncan and Alf being told she's dead - think of The Body from Buffy - news spreading around town, Alf saying goodbye, it was all skipped. And nobody other than Alf, Duncan and Shauna even cared. Sally, Leah, and Irene who were all close to Ailsa really didn't give a crap because the time skip between her collapsing and the funeral meant that everything was missed out.

To be honest my memory of the aftermath is pretty hazy, so I'm sure you're right. I just remember the actual death scene being very good and very realistic. Much better than killing her in a mudslide!

Success. I thought I was going to have to come here and deliver some bad news because I had a small purchase problem. But I have bought a Freeview harddrive with a USB slot instead and it will be here some time today.

...And we are in business. Ordering a recorder today but just need to decide whether to get a HD one or one with a VCR. I'm thinking HD, incase I mess up the first episodes and stuff.

I will tell you now about how I will do this. I will probably record a weeks worth of episodes, then transfer and upload at the weekends. Is that okay for everyone? This may change, depending on how much free time I have (all this has to happen when I start having an actual life  )

I will also be uploading to rapidshare, so I will split each episode into rar files. This will give small download files but a good quality episode. Depending on the recorder, the episodes may also have adverts in tact.

They will also be uploaded to Mar's server as well.

Does that sound okay?

That sounds really good, where im from i cant see this channel so its no hope for me. But im excited if someone has the time to upload the episodes :) i also have acess to Mar's server. Iam most interested upon the suther lands, arrival, and episodes leading that.

I am extremly excited however i cant feel slightly gutted that it doesn't start the reruns from the early 90's because thats where the gap is in my knowledge or even the mid-late 90s as this was the show at its best!!! I know five dont have the rights - it is a shame though!! Still very excited though!!

Will five ever be able to acquire the rights? It would be fantastic to see the Shannon/Selina/Chloe era again...that and the Sutho era are my faves. Classic H&A! :D

Do you guys want the good news or the bad news first?

Good news is that the freeview harddrive arrived and it is snazzy. Bad news is that the channels not found when tuning is five, five US & five life.

We have come to the conclusion that this is due to the bad weather here. If all goes to plan, those channels should be appearing this weekend because the weather is supposed to be better.

Just cross your fingers, okay?

My parents had the same problem with their freeview TV and they had to get a freeview aerial to get the missing channels. But then again, my friend had freeview and was missing E4 but it just suddenly appeared one day without her doing anything!

By the way, I can't wait for these episodes to start!!! :D
