She hadn’t had a chance to have a proper catch up with Ella who was always busy with homework or spending time with Adam. “Can I go to the beach after school?” Ella asked as she appeared bleary eyed at the bottom of the stairs. “Morning Ella” Mattie said from the kitchen, cup of coffee in her hand. “ Hey Mattie” Ella said as she waited for her Mum’s reply. “Haven’t you got homework to do?” Cassie worried, looking at her daughter. “Mum, not much, honest” she said turning back towards the stairs. “Don’t be too late home El” Cas called up the stairs. “I won’t, it’s fine” she called back. “Everything will be fine” she muttered under her breath. Ella had been spending most of her afternoons at the beach for over a week. It was Adam’s chance to show off his surfing skills to his envious friends, as well as keep an eye on Ella. “Don’t you think he’s too possessive?” Taylor asked as she plonked down on the towel next to Ella’s. “Banana? I hate banana milkshake” Ella said as Taylor handed it over. “El, he tells you what to do!!” Taylor said “Tay, he’s only looking out for me, he cares about me” Ella said, getting up to change her milkshake. “Be back in two”.
