Chris J Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 I just think that some threads that were not as pointless as this one have. Hate to say it, but it seems to me that there is one rule for some and another one for everyone else. I have noticed this happening more and more over the years. By doing this thread, you guys have just proved the theory, that's all. Maybe that's true, maybe that's not. Up until recently, I haven't been active enough to know. But if it is true, and threads less pointless than this one have been closed unnecessarily, then it's something that could do with changing. I want us to go back to being (if we're not already) a friendly place to post, where people can eat cookies, have some in-depth Home and Away discussion, and have some less serious discussion over here in General Chat. It seems people complain that we're not friendly enough / are too strict, then as soon as I come in and try to change some of that, I get complaints about it. Tell me, how we're supposed to win if we get complaints either way? I've also noticed a few more things that have been going on, but I will not say at this stage, because I can't be bothered. But I'm sure some people around will know what I'm talking about. If any of these things changing would help restore stability, please feel free to PM or email me privately about them. I don't like the negative way this board seems to be portrayed, and want it changed one way or another, and knowing exactly what members think of us is a good way to start.
Elise Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 Oh, don't get me wrong Mar, most of those people I put back in their places, I think at that time I was getting irate with seeing it on like every second post. Something in me snapped then and I responded accordingly. What I meant was, I guess, I do tend to ignore a lot of those comments, most comments don't contribute to discussion and I ignore. In fact, I don't post much to do with Home and Away here anymore because it seems that if you don't go with the general consensus, you get flamed also the third degree. What I do like, is that some threads have been made where they started off as a slinging match, and they ended up with intelligent debate, just take a look at the 'Global Warming' thread in GC, and you will see what I mean.

Tell me, how we're supposed to win if we get complaints either way? Have you considered doing official polls? When you just up and got rid of post counts (using as example here) I don't recall seeing a poll on whether or not it should happen. I have seen threads, no poll. So basically, a fair amount of people wouldn't have at least had the chance to vote, and if they were to say something, it wouldn't be as anonymous as a poll would, so would be flamed for their responses. I get where you are coming from, but tbh, out of all the forums I have been on, this one is the most moderated, as well as to some extent, egotistic. What used to be a great place has now turned into a not so nice place, people are becoming more elitist here, and that's not why I joined. Sorry, but I just had to get that out.
emmasi Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 I agree with you Emmasi, because it happens when someone generally disagrees with anything really, I made a comment about the show awhile back and had several people tell me, "why do you still watch it then?" I know I've said that to some people - or close enough - but only to people who constantly complain about everything... I sometimes wonder what possible joy they could take from watching a show that they make out to be nothing but a waste of their time... Perhaps the joy is in the complaining. Not you Elise, in case you were wondering . But that really would be going off topic...
Elise Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 That's cool, I know it's not me, I'm not a serial complainer, but when I do, it's generally something that is really bugging me. I do understand that in that context Emmasi, but as stated, I say one thing that I noticed and I get bombarded with that. That's what I'm sorta frustrated about.

What used to be a great place has now turned into a not so nice place, people are becoming more elitist here, and that's not why I joined. Sorry, but I just had to get that out. The way I see - I'm a member of several boards. One with app. 10 000 members. The mods there are not posting, the way mods here do. The mods here (and admins) prove that they are human, people, just like the members. We have likes and dislikes, opinions and thoughts. We have personality, humor and the lack of. I think, and this is just my thoughts on this, is that since we have mods so active as the ones we've got here, mods who show the members who they are, the modding is bound to be seen as a "egoistic" simply because you know the mod behind the actions. If we as mods didn't post the same was members do, but only posted when doing mod-business, we wouldn't have the amount of complains and moans we get now from time to time. I'm merely drawing this conclusion from that big board I'm a member of, and several smaller ones where problems like this is not an issue.
MarMar Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 Wait, I'm confused. What is TBH??? To be honest.
