PART 19 Kate looks at Chris with a small smile. “Hey.” He looks back at her, his eyes shining. “Hey…” She takes his hand, looking up at him. “Thank you.” “What for?” Kate looks at him seriously. “For giving me the will to fight…When I was lying there… all I could think about was… that we haven’t spend enough time together. That I needed to see you again.” Chris bends down to kiss her softly. “Can you remember what happened?” Kate closes her eyes, a frown on her forehead. “No… I just remember a pain in my back… and falling.” “I thought I was going to lose you, Kate…” “You could never lose me…” He kisses her softly, taking her hand in his. “Where’s Hayden?” “Still with Ada… Do you want to see him?” “That would be nice…” She sighs, resting her head against his shoulder. “I love you so much.” “I love you too… I was so… angry.” “Angry?” He nods slightly. “Unreasonably angry. At Paul for telling Jodi about the kiss. At Jodi for letting you walk off. But most of all at myself.” “Why?” “Because if it wasn’t for Mandy turning up at my door pregnant… I wouldn’t have left. And then you and Paul wouldn’t have kissed and…” Kate turns, pressing her hand against his lips. “Chris, it’s no one’s fault. Neither of you knew something was going to happen to me. And I chose to run off. Jodi didn’t make me go. Paul didn’t force me to kiss him. You didn’t tell me to chase you out. I should have known better…” “Paul… there’s something I need to know.” Jodi looks at her husband seriously, her eyes dark. “If Kate didn’t get shot… and if she told you that she wanted to be with you… who would you be with? Be honest.” Paul thinks for a minute, a frown lying between his brows. Kate. Jodi. Jodi. Kate. “You.” He looks at her seriously, taking her hand. “I care about Kate. There is even some sexual attraction there. And for a while… I thought that I was in love with her. But I love you, Jodi. More than anything.” Jodi grins, leaning over to kiss him. “In that case… how would you feel about starting a family?” Rhys looks at Becky with a frown. “Come o, Becky, fess up. What happened?” Becky sighs. “It’s not my place to tell you…” “Just tell me!” “Okay! Paul kissed Kate!” Rhys looks at Becky with pure shock and disbelief. “What?” “They were drunk… and… it sort of just happened. Paul told Jodi just before Kate got shot.” “Wow.” Rhys shakes his head. “What did Jodi do?” “She snapped. I don’t know what she said, but Kate ran off…” “So that’s why Chris said that it was Jodi’s fault!” “Chris said it was Jodi’s fault?” Becky looks at Rhys with a frown and he nods. “In the hospital… big drama…” Becky sighs, looking down. “Jodi didn’t want Kate to get hurt! Yes, she said some terrible things, but I know she cares about Kate! She was distraught when she heard! She felt guilty already and now he just made it worse!” Rhys puts his hand on Becky’s arm. “Becky… Chris loves Kate with everything that he is. He was scared of losing her! He wasn’t thinking straight.” Becky shakes her head. “That’s not an excuse.” “Isn’t it? Chris and Kate never got along until she got married. And when Callan died, Chris was always there for Kate. They started depending on each other… Then there was Mandy. Then Kate and Chris got together. And then Mandy turns up pregnant. There you have Paul and Kate – both miserable because they’re hurt and both are very drunk. They kiss. Because they’re in the same position, they feel like they understand each other. They think that they have feelings for each other. Chris on the other hand is being blackmailed by Mandy – and he’s afraid of losing Kate. He finds out that Paul has feelings for Kate. T hen Kate and Chris decide that she’ll talk to Mandy and before that can happen and before the whole pregnancy and blackmail issue can be resolved, Kate gets shot – and he might lose her again. He’s not thinking straight… he’s just acting on impulse.” Becky sighs and slowly nods. “Well… when you put it like that… it sort of makes sense.” Rhys smiles and takes her hand. “Remember… we can’t judge people if we haven’t taken a walk in their shoes… Chris, Kate, Paul, Jodi… they’re all going through a lot right now. They need support. Not judgement.”

Did he really need to think about it. Gosh And he told Jodi that he thought he was in love with Kate, what is she thinking staying with him. I say take Noah and leave, make the butt head suffer. Still hate Chris. And even though Rhys's speech was logical, i still hate him. I hate all three of them Great chapter though More please

If that’s okay with you!” Paul grins. ”What are you kidding me? Of course it’s okay! How do we do this?” “We talk to Maria…” “Come on, sweetie, nap time!” Amy picks Ava up from where she’s sitting in front of the TV. “I don’t want to nap!” Ava looks at Amy angrily and Amy smiles at her. “Just for a little while… otherwise you’re going to be very tired and cranky!” “YOU’RE NOT MY MOMMY!” Ava glares at Amy, her hand swinging through the air and landing on Amy’s cheek. Amy slowly puts the girl down, shocked by her behaviour. “I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU!” Ava stomps her feet, still glaring at Amy. She throws a pillow at her before running off. Amy sits down on the couch, stunned, touching her cheek. Then she lets her head hang, crying silently. “You want to adopt Noah? Are you sure?” Maria looks at the couple seriously and Jodi nods. “I love him like he’s my own, Maria…” Maria nods slowly, biting her lip. “As long as you realise… Noah comes with tons of emotional baggage… he’s not like any other kid.” “I know, Maria.” Jodi looks at the older woman with a grin. “But I really care about him… and he deserves a family. We want to give that to him.” Paul nods, putting his hand on his wife’s leg. “Yes. We’ll make him the happiest kid in the world. Seriously.” Maria looks at them with a lifted brow. “Okay. I’ll talk to Peter. And he’ll contact the head of the orphanage. We’ll try to sort this out as soon as possible.” Jodi smiles. “Can we tell Noah?” Maria smiles. “Okay. I can’t see a problem with that.” “Thank you!” Nic looks at Amy, shocked to find his wife curled up on the couch with tear stains on her cheeks. “Aimz? What happened?” Amy shakes her head and slowly sits up. “Nothing.” “Where’s Ava?” “In her room. Sleeping.” Nic sits down next to Amy, frowning. “Amy, talk to me.” “It’s nothing, Nic. I’m just a little tired.” “You don’t cry over nothing.” She stands up, her eyes blank. “I want to go take a bath.” She rushes out of the room, leaving Nic confused and upset. Kate and Chris both look up when Dr. Michaels comes in with a grave expression. “G’day, you two.” Kate looks at Chris and back at the doctor. Chris holds her hand tighter, also looking at the doctor. “Thank you, doctor… For saving her.” Kevin Michaels shrugs and smiles. “I don’t have power over life and death. This one has friends in high places. And a strong will to survive.” Kate looks at the doctor with a frown. “Dr. Michaels… what’s going on? You look like you have bad news…” Kevin sighs. “I do.” He sits down opposite them, looking serious. “What I have to tell you know… isn’t easy… And I truly wish that I didn’t have to…” Kate bites her lip. “What’s going on?” Noah looks up when Jodi and Paul enter his room, immediately sticking his arms out to Jodi. “Jo!” She picks him up and smiles. “Hey Noah.” “You’re leaving, aren’t you?” “Why would you say that?” “Everyone always leaves.” Jodi puts him down on the bed, looking at him seriously. “Noah… how would you like to come and live with me and Paul?” Noah looks at Jodi and Paul with a small frown. “Will that make you my mommy?” Jodi nods. “It sure will!” He looks at Paul. “And will you be my daddy then?” ”I sure will.” Noah grins and climbs onto Paul’s lap, throwing his arms around his neck. “Then I love you too, daddy!”
