Here's the next bit though, thanks for the feedback. PART 29 “I hope Noah is enjoying his visit.” Jodi frowns when Paul starts laughing and looks up at him. “What?” “You’re adorable, do you know that?” “Why?” “You just are.” Jodi laughs, pressing her face against his chest. “I’m crazy about you…” “I’m just as crazy about you. Look, Jodi… everything that’s happened in the last few months… it’s just made me realize that I don’t want to lose you. I love you too much.” Jodi smiles up at him. “You know… at one point I wasn’t sure whether I’d ever be able to forgive you. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I love you… and I want to be with you everyday until I die.” Paul grins, stroking over her hair lovingly. “Suddenly, I’m really glad Noah wanted to spend the night at the BFG’s house…” Jodi laughs, pulling him close. “So am I…” “What do you think they’re doing?” “I don’t know… but I almost feel sorry for Chris and Kate.” Chris looks at Ava gloomily. “Ava, do you ever get tired?” Ava looks at Chris, jumping up and down energetically. “No. Not really. Sometimes I do, but I ate a lot of sugar today and when I eat a lot of sugar, I don’t get tired at all! Why? Are you tired? Are you old?” Chris picks her up and laughs. “Yes I’m tired and no I’m not old.” “Do you love Auntie Kate?” “More than anything.” Ava sighs and looks at him seriously. “Hayden is lucky.” “Why do you say that?” “His daddy loves his mommy. My daddy doesn’t love my mommy anymore.” Chris puts Ava down on the couch, looking at her seriously. “But you have two mommy’s now.” Ava shakes her head. “I hate auntie Amy.” “Why?” Ava shrugs. “She’s not my real mommy.” “Well…” he sits down next to her, looking serious. “I’m not Hayden’s real daddy either. But I love him like I am. Why don’t you give auntie Amy a chance? She’s really nice?” Ava pouts and shrugs slightly. “Maybe I’ll think about it.” “Good girl! Come on, let’s go upstairs to Auntie Kate and the boys.” Ava nods and reaches out so Chris can carry her upstairs. “Hey Indi…” Indiana looks up when she hears Rhys speaking behind her. “Hey Rhys. How are you?” “I’m good… listen, there’s something that I need to tell you…” “Yeah?” Rhys rubs his neck, looking at her seriously. “There… there’s another girl… her name is Becky. I really like her.” Indiana smiles. “That’s great, Rhys. I’m really happy for you.” He looks at her seriously. “I didn’t want you to find out through someone else…” “Thanks. And I really am happy for you, Rhys.” “Thank you.” He gives her a quick hug and she looks at him with a grin. “So when do I get to meet Becky?” Rhys laughs. “Soonish… I think…” “And then Peter Panda defeated the evil koala’s and there was peace on land. Then end.” Ava and Noah both look at Chris blankly. Ava shakes her head. “Man. That was worse than the other one.” Chris lifts a brow. “You guys aren’t really good for my ego, you know.” Ava giggles and sits on her knees to hug him. “I still love you!” “I almost feel better! Take a nap now and when you wake up we’re going to have a BBQ, doesn’t that sound nice?” Ava nods and closes her eyes immediately. “Go away, I can’t sleep when you’re watching me.” Chris laughs and walks away, closing the door behind him. As soon as he’s out, Ava opens her eyes again. “Noah, let’s go down and see what they’re doing!” Noah shakes his head. “We’ll get in trouble.” Ava lifts a brow. “Watch me!” The shadowy figure watches silently as the little blonde girl walks out, sitting down behind Chris quietly. She feels a sharp pang of jealousy when Kate stands up to give him a kiss and walks in. The baby is with Chris… Kate is the only one in the house… Now is the time. Reach up… her hand touches the windowpane and she bites on her lip, stretching further. There… The flame from the match immediately lights up the blue curtains. She laughs gleefully before sliding down again and running away as fast as possible… As the blue curtains burn faster, smoke surrounding him, Noah starts coughing urgently…

Her insides freeze immediately. The kids. Kate throws open the door, staring at the flames for a few seconds before running forward. “Noah! Ava!” She coughs desperately, her throat and eyes burning from the smoke. Yet, she moves forward, praying that she’ll get to the kids on time. “Hey, Becky… It’s Rhys… I don’t know why your phone is switched off, but call me please… yeah, Indi wants to meet you… So… I guess that will happen at Jodi and Paul’s party thingy. Actually I just wanted to talk to you. But you’re not available… so I’ll stop talking now and say bye. So bye.” He puts down the phone, walking along the beach silently, finding it impossible to suppress the grin on his face. “Kate throws the door open, a thick cloud of smoke hanging over her head. Thankfully the fire hasn’t spread into the room… the smoke however is hanging over the two small beds like a blanket. Kate rushes forward, picking Noah up. For a second it feels as though the bullet strikes her back again, and she bites her lip tensely. “Auntie Fairy…” Noah’s voice is hoarse and tearful. “Noah… You have to hold onto me, okay?” He nods and she takes off her jacket, putting it over his mouth. “Hold this over your face…” She walks to Ava’s bed, her face going white. “Noah, where’s Ava?” Noah looks at her seriously. “She went outside, isn’t she there?” Kate holds him closer, they both coughing loudly when they inhale more smoke. “Don’t worry… we just need to get out of here.” “That’s odd… there’s no answer at Kate and Chris’… Do you think everything’s all right?” Paul frowns, looking at Jodi seriously and she laughs. “Don’t worry! They’re probably just outside having a good time. Relax.” Paul sits down, pouting. “I miss Noah already!” Jodi puts her arms around his neck, kissing him softly. “So do I… but let’s not ruin his visit by going all over protective…” Paul nods, kissing her back. “You’re right… Maybe we should just make the most of this…” “Maybe we should.” “Noah…” Kate coughs again, her breath getting shorter. She blinks furiously, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Noah, are you still awake?” He nods slightly, his eyes closed and his breath short. “Keep the jacket over your mouth and nose, okay. Breathe through it, can you do that?” He nods again and Kate walks forward, fighting the urge to fall down. Ava looks up and frowns when she sees smoke pouring out from one of the windows. “Uncle Chris?” He looks down at her. “Ava? What are you doing outside?” “Uncle Chris! There’s smoke in the house! Noah is in there!” She starts running forward, but Chris jumps up, pulling her back. “Ava, stay here and keep an eye over Hayden.” He dials a number quickly. “Hello? This is Chris Sadrinna; I need you to come quickly. My house is on fire… there are two people inside…” Chris gives the phone to Ava. “Ava, I need you to call your daddy while I go inside and look for Auntie Kate and Noah. Can you do that?” Ava nods, her face white, and Chris runs into the burning house, his heart racing. “Hey, Jon!” Jon smiles when he sees Amy and Nic walking towards him, stopping dead in his tracks. “Hey guys! How are you?” “We’re good! What are…” Nic groans when his phone starts ringing and frowns when he sees the Caller I.D. “It’s Chris… G’day, mate? Ava? Okay, sweetie, calm down… what? I’m on my way.” He puts the phone down, looking ghostly pale. “Chris and Kate’s house is on fire… Chris, Kate and Noah are inside.”
