Jodi looks at Paul sadly and shakes her head.

“I wish we could take him to that specialist, Paul. But… we just can’t afford it.”

“We can manage. We just have to.”

”But Paul…”

“No, Jodz. I don’t care if I have to go hungry for the rest of my life, but Noah has to see again. He just has to.”

“I know you love him and so do I. But we have to think about this.”

“There is nothing to think about! This doctor can help him. I don’t care what it costs. We have a lot of friends, maybe they can help us…”

“I’m not borrowing money from our friends!”

“Stop being so proud! We need to think about Noah here! We’re parents, we can’t be selfish!”

“But…”

“I swear, Jodi, I am going to take him. If you don’t want to come, if you don’t want to do this then fine. But I will do everything in my power to help him see again.”

“You make it sound like I don’t want to help him!”

“That’s not what I’m doing! You’re doing that all by yourself.”

He shakes his head and turn around.

“If you’ll excuse me. I have an appointment with my bank manager.”

He walks out and Jodi sits back with a sigh.

“Maybe when all this is over… we can finally get married. Settle down.”

Chris looks at Kate seriously and she smiles.

“That would be amazing. Have some peace.”

“Go to the hospital less.”

She laughs and squeezes his hand.

“Yeah! Real life is getting more dramatic than Summer Bay!”

“You’re telling me. I can’t believe they’re breaking Brad and Sally up.”

“I can’t believe they’re making Sally fall for Tony.”

“I can’t believe they’re making Brad fall for Naomi!”

They both laugh and she snuggles up against him.

“Do you think life will be different after tomorrow?”

“I hope so. In a good way.”

“What if she hurts you? What if she kills you?”

“If she kills me… I’m taking her with me.”

“Chris…”

“Kate, I’d die if it meant you could get peace.”

“But I’ll never be happy without you.”

“You’re worrying too much. I’m not going anywhere.”

He kisses her softly and she smiles.

“You’d better not…”

Jodi shakes her head.

“It’s not that I don’t want him to see again, but… We can’t pay for something that we can’t afford!”

Amy nods and squeezes Jodi’s hand.

“Look, I have some money that I put away a few years back… You can have that.”

“No! No way, I’m no ones charity case. I’ll think of something.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah. Thanks Amy, but… I can’t take your money. I’ll go talk to Paul. We’ll manage. Thanks for being here for me.”

“Anytime.”

“So where’s Ava?”

“She’s with Clare this weekend.”

“I hope it doesn’t cause problems again…”

“So do I. But I’m positive. Ava and I are really getting on well at the moment.”

“I’m glad. So… I’ll see you.”

“Sure. Go talk to your man! Sort this out!”

“Thanks! Bye!”

“Well well well. Look who showed up.”

Chris turns around when he hears Carol’s icy voice behind him and faces her with a stony expression.

“You thought I was scared?”

“Wouldn’t blame you.”

“I’m not afraid of you, Carol.”

“Oh.”

She sits down next to him, twirling her hair around her finger.

“I want you to dump Kate.”

“And I want you to get your head examined. But we don’t always get what we want now do we?”

“Are you trying to be funny?”

“Not at all.”

Carol sighs and looks at him seriously.

“Please Chrissy! I love you! Please don’t reject me!”

She kneels in front of him, taking his hands in hers.

“Please love me. Please, I’m begging you. Please take me back.”

“Carol…”

“I love you. I need you.”

He slowly releases his hands from hers and looks at her kindly.

“Carol, if you really loved me… you’d let me go.”

“No.”

“I love Kate.”

“No, you don’t.”

“Yes, I do.”

“I’ll ruin your life… I’ll get you fired… I’ll make you miserable…”

“See? That there. That’s why I don’t believe you love me.”

“But I do!”

“You don’t, Carol.”

She stands up, her face expressionless.

“Fine then.”

She starts climbing up the big rocks and waves at him one time. Before Chris can make out what is happening, she disappears underneath the waves. Forever.

Kate looks at the doctor in awe.

“Are you sure?”

”One hundred percent.”

“Thanks… for your time.”

She picks Hayden up and walks out of the Doctor’s Office with a dazed look on her face.

Paul looks up when Jodi enters the room.

“You’re packing?”

He nods.

“I got an appointment for Noah. Are you coming or staying?”

“I’m coming.”

Paul smiles and takes a minute to kiss her.

“I love you. I knew you’d come around.”

“Yeah… Well, I guess I should start packing then.”

“Jodz… we’ll manage.”

Jodi smiles, cupping his face with her hands.

“Yeah. I know.”

In the Bishop house, Nic sits down next to Amy, handing her a glass of wine.

“Ooh, thanks. I need this.”

“I know you too well.”

She kisses him softly and smiles.

“It’s quiet without Ava. I miss her.”

“I’m glad the two of you started getting along.”

“So am I! She’s a smart kid.”

“She is. She wants to be a detective one day!”

Amy laughs.

“Of all the things.”

“Well since we have some time alone…”

Nic puts his wine glass down and takes Amy’s out of her hand.

“I’m thinking… why not make the most of it?”

She falls back on the couch, pulling him down on top of her.

“Now you’re talking my language…”

Kate jumps up from the couch when Chris enters the living room, running into his arms.

“I was so worried about you!”

He puts his arms around her, burying his face in her hair.

“She’s dead.”

“What?”

“Carol… she’s dead. She killed herself.”

“You’re not serious…”

“I am… I tried to pull her out of the water, but… the waves pushed her against the rocks and…”

“Chris…”

Kate strokes over his hair and he shakes his head.

“I wanted to feel sad. Feel sorry for her. But all I could think was that we were finally rid of her. Does that make me a horrible person?”

“No. Of course not. She made your life a living hell. It’s understandable.”

“Are we ever really going to be rid of her? Or is her memory going to haunt us?”

“Only if we allow that.”

“Promise me we won’t.”

“I promise.”
