I remember reading someone's post a few years ago, saying Home&Away had become the Sutherland show, well all I can say is: if the Sutherlands were so bad, what about Jack and Martha?! Sure, they were pretty cute at first when Martha hated Jack and all, but now it's like Home&Away has become the Jack&Martha show.

I think the writers/producers realised the Sutherlands had basically taken over the show during their time on it, so they phased them out during 2004/early 2005. Then, instead of creating a show that doesn't focus too much attention on a small number of people and marginalising others, they went right back to what they did with the Sutherlands but with Jack and Martha instead.

I thought that 2008 had been an improvement on 2006 and 2007 because there was very little Jack and Martha related crap in the first few weeks, but then Dan died and I realised how much of an effect they have had on the show. Irene was grief-stricken about Dan dying and said she considered him to be like a son to her, but WHEN has this been established???? I can't think of any reason she would be so upset other than on Leah's behalf because she is her friend. Dan was pushed into the background during all of 2007 and most of 2006, while J&M too centre stage, and now we're meant to believe that Irene and Dan had a mother-son relationship? That has never been shown because they've been too busy flogging bloody Jack and Martha!!!

i HATE martha and jack!!!!!!! but it was a rollercoaster journey...

when they first came, it was obvious that they had a thing for each other and i didn't really care either way coz it was all new, then when their marriage broke down, i did remember feeling sad coz they'd only been married for two minutes and you could see that jack was gutted, and i didn't really get why martha didn't put more effort to keep the marriage going !! then she said she didn't love him anymore when he was in hospital and ash came onto the scene...and i really thought that was it (how dumb was i?!). i liked sam when she first came, i thought her and jack were nice together and was upset that she left. the martha got kinda annoying for a while and when they started 're-connecting' (yawn) i thought that she doesn't deserve jack coz i liked him then! then...i got used to the idea of them getting back together and wasn't happy when they got sam back, even though i'd liked her in the beginning! she didn't irritate me, but she got progressively worse as time went on-i hated her when she was blaming martha when it was her beloved jack that was sniffing around martha when he came out of his coma after georgie boy shot him!

but...i now come to the real reason i HATE jack and martha.............because i LOVED michael. when he came, i completely forgot about jack, i actually forgot that they'd been so close to getting back together, i even forgot that the only reason martha ran out of petrol and saw michael was as she was going out of town for a few days to get away after she agreed to sign the divorce so jack could marry sam! i fell head over heels for him, and thought michael and martha made the most fantastic couple, her and jack are so rubbish in contrast esp. after with the whole journey that her and michael went through, with their past, to fall for each other was so amazing...

...so i hate martha and jack for breaking michael's heart and for being the reason that he had to leave, and for leaving me GUTTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bring michael back!!!!!!!! and give him someone worthy of the amazing guy he is!!!!!

oh! and one other thing............they deserve to be hated for being the longest couple to 'will they-won't they get back together!) what has it been, three, four YEARS??? i repeat, YEARS!!!! someone please confirm, that is the longest that they've given any couple to get back together, right? why on earth do they have to drag these storylines on for so long!! h&a is like one big predictable story when it comes to 'the right couple' blah blah, move things along! someone tell them that it's ok for couples to move on, permanently!!!!!!!! and it's so mean that they have to destroy other people along the way while they delude themselves that they've moved on......like my michael!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'll never forget him! :(

Because the writer's think it's fun to screw with the viewers like this and they think it will keep everyone watching, when really it's getting really boring. I love JM but I'm sick of the will they, won't they to a point that I just don't care what they do anymore.

The funny thing about this whole JM saga, that has been going on for years, is that they have actually been apart and with different partners longer than they have actually been together!

I mean Martha's probably had longer relationships and dealt with more deeper issues in them with nearly all of her other boyfriend... be it Cam, Ash, Michael or Corey!

Even Jack and Sam have been in a relationship longer than JM's barely 2 month thing!

HAHA! that's so true! which makes it more of a joke that they've brought them together again...as i was saying somewhere else actually, i'd love to ask jodi and paul, and all the cast who play these mindnumbingly boring other 'will they-won't they' couples, whether they as actors don't get really bored when they open their scripts and learn that actually, after all that, their characters are going to regress (yes, i used that word on purpose) - yet again! surely they want to see their characters develop, meet new people, and just get on with their lives!

speaking of which, i was watching a behind the scenes video of jack and sam's wedding, and they were asking some of the cast whether they thought martha should stop the wedding...kate ritchie said yes, they're meant to be together (i love you, kate, but really??) but the guy who plays geoff (i don't know his name), was like no, martha had her chance, then one after that, then like thirty after that!! hehe

...and KatieL, don't you just feel like sitting the writers down and telling them how to REALLY do their jobs! on a serious note, i think the h&a writers do need someone to tell them that this thing they like to do, is so old!!

YES!!! But they have been doing a fantastic job this year, so I can't complain too much. Just get rid of the JM rubbish. Get them back together or keep them apart and just leave them alone for goodness sake.

Agreed. I was saying somewhere else that although i LOVED michael and i was so gutted when he left, and i hated martha for not loving him like he deserved  I still wanted martha to stop jack and sam’s wedding so that a) michael leaving would have some purpose! And b) that it would all be over! I was so sure that she’d stop the wedding, and just COULD NOT BELIEVE IT when she didn’t! now we have to go through the joy of watching them squirm about it for god knows how long! As if we haven’t suffered enough – what did we do to deserve JM? That’s what i want to know!

I used to like them- right back at the beginning when they first got together. But then they divorced because of a terrible reason and in my eyes it was downhill from there. Too many other people coming in between, jealousy, dates then arguments. Can't they just have a moment when they realise they'll never be together, think 'what if' for a few seconds then MOVE ON. NO LOOKING BACK!

I like Sam and her and Jack could have been good together. Its a shame.
