So. In conclusion, his parents and guardians abandoned him basically, and it looks to me like an oversight on the part of the writers (probably led by Mr David Worthington) not to have a DOCS representative present to fulfil the requirement to have a guardian present when a juvenile suspect is questioned by police. "Pippa" got sick of his lying, and Tom was conveniently away on a business trip at the time all this blew up.

When this storyline was next covered by Home And Away in 1995, it looks like Dodge had good legal representation in court, as he had the charge reduced from murder to manslaughter, as he didn't mean to kill Uncle Phillip, and he was a stupid kid trying to "get the old bag" by burning down her shop. And he served 6 (not 5, according to the story in 1995) years in jail, a common continuity error on the part of the writers.

It's classic Home and Away "yesterday's man" behaviour. The whole point of Dodge was for him to make waves for a while before getting his comeuppance. By the time they'd arrested him, he already had one foot in the bin and was about to go out with the trash. Knowing what little attention they pay to details, it's a minor miracle Dodge came back in 1995 with the correct name and face.

Mac by a year or two, I think. It was established Rick was married to Tanya but he was messing with Karen and bought her off with the houseon the proviso she and Dean never bothered him again. He then left Tanya for Elaine and had Sean and Kayla.

Mac and Dean are definitely the same age as it was mentioned in dialogue when she first arrived. I can't remember offhand it's been mentioned specifically which one is the (slightly) older one though, and we only know Dean's DOB so far.

Were the "Singapore" locations (where Bobby and Frank had their honeymoon, and Alsa had a stopover on her way to London to run away from Alf) really filmed in Singapore?

No Distinguishing landmarks or "Thanks to" in credits, so it's likely they didn't even leave Palm Beach! 

I don't think it was until 1998 they did overseas filming (Stevo/Selina/Irene in Ironbridge, Chloe/Olivia/Lachie in the US)

Might it also have been too early in Home and Away's history for an overseas shoot? We've all heard the early actors saying they didn't expect it to last very long and that if they got a few months out of it, that'd be great. As well as that, how many other countries had they sold Home and Away to? The UK didn't begin airing it until 1989 by which time they'd long since filmed the honeymoon.

That's true of a lot of TV shows when they film in a new location, isn't it? The camera crew really go to town in more ways than one, and you're left in no doubt that they're in London or New York or wherever. When they're just pretending to be abroad, all you see are hotel interiors with actors from the 'Allo 'Allo school of bad accents and big posters with "Welcome to Paris" on them.
