Was it ever explained why Samantha was able to stay with her dad? I know that it was only Carly who he abused, but I would have thought that if he was deemed an unfit father to one child, both would be taken away.

Yeah, you've basically answered your own question.Don't know how realistic it is or if it'd be more likely to happen in the '80s than now but I suppose the thinking was Samantha wasn't in danger from him and was happy to stay where she was so they left her there.

Samantha and her father also categorically denied any abuse, either of Samantha or Carly. Ultimately, Carly was fostered because she refused to go back there, but they had no real evidence, with Samantha's denial as well making it very difficult to prove.

Why does Frank have a Welsh surname when he is clearly of Greek descent?

In the Frank Morgan Story book that was released in the 80's (so probably not strictly canon), Frank's parents names are given as Les and Helena, Helena's maiden name Niarchos, with her parents being Spiro and Maria, thus that's where the Greek came from. However, I'd say there's also probably a chance that they wrote the Greek descent into the character because Alex Papps got the role.

Frank leaves in 339, Morag in 439 and Bobby in 1304, although that isn't the last we see of any of them.

Indeed, with Roo returning last year, albeit played by a different actress, I think that leaves just Neville as the only character of the originals who never returned. (I don't know if you count Lynn as someone who returned as a guest star whilst still on the credits or someone who doesn't appear for 6 weeks whilst on the credits)

She was ill (mentally). She wanted to punish Donald for making Alan so unhappy.

I guess with no kids around and no family, she had become lonely and isolated. With nothing but Alan's book for company, in which he talked about how bad Don was to him, things got a bit twisted in her mind.
