Yes, obviously Alf was having a brain tumour and "evil" Ailsa was egging him on to push her down the stairs. Alf didn't realise what he did after he had pushed her down the stairs. He was like 'Ailsa, what have you done?'

The scene was quite weird as well because it was done in slow motion which may have represented Alf was hallucinating so it was hard to interpret as to whether Ailsa was egging him on or not, but the general consensus is she was and this motivated him to do what he did, without realising the consequences.

Thanks for answering my question, Jezz. I remember I did freak out when I watched bits and parts of a few episodes when Ailsa returned as a ghost. I remember watching a episode when Alisa tells Alf some people like e.g. Sally (I think she was there) were talking about him. So creepy and that's why it did freak me out.

I was just in my mid-teen years when I saw these episodes, lol. (I did remember seeing the episode when Ailsa appeared in the Diner as a ghost) Is it in the finale of 2002, right? Now I had just turned 27 years old a month ago, hahaha.

Had been reading Ailsa Stewart's Wiki page...I noticed a vision of Ailsa had 'egged' Alf to injure Donald...? I can't find any video clips of it. Expect only I found one of him injuring Morag.

All these episodes were on youtube a while ago but seem to have disappeared again, sadly.

Actually that's not quite what happened. Ailsa didn't egg Alf on to push Morag down the stairs. He actually "watched" Ailsa doing it herself. Of course, she wasn't real so it must have been Alf, but in his mind, it was Ailsa who did it. Morag was walking towards the stairs (after storming out of the flat) and next thing we know Alf is yelling "No, Ails, don't!" and Morag is falling down the stairs.

The "egging on" happened in a similar incident with Donald. Donald kept insisting that Ailsa was dead and Alf got angry with him, with Ailsa yelling "go on Alf, hit him! Hit him!" Donald then had an angina attack. Later, "Ailsa" remarked that Donald should be more careful with his heart and when Alf pointed out that it was Ailsa who told him to hit Donald, she replied innocently "I said no such thing!"

Such a fun storyline.

I always remember the image of Alf sitting at the table alone, but with 3 places set, having thrown Fisher out and of course set a place for Ailsa. I used the clip in the only music video I ever made, full of the completely ridiculous stuff in H&A's history.

I thought the last line worked very well for that scene. Shame about the rest of the video.

Just found a video clip of Alf seeing Ailsa cooking eggs in the kitchen (Ailsa's ghost haunts Alf. Dec 2002) I can remember seeing that episode on my TV back in 2002...

Did Alf make amends with everyone e.g. Morag and Donald (for injuring them) after he had the brain tumour removed...?

No worries, but I think Beau T answered it better than I did. This storyline was actually a lot more complex than I anticipated. It was one of the best storylines along with the on-going Angie storyline in 2002-2003. I actually thought Alf would die from his brain tumour, but luckily he survived.

Yes, Ailsa's ghost first appeared in the 2002 finale in the diner. Alf looked shocked, and I don't think the viewers knew how to react to it either. It was an excellent finale.

I know H&A began filming in July 1987, 6 months before the first episode broadcast but I did hear the show was concieved as early as 1986. If so would anyone know when in 1986 Alan Bateman thought of a new show for Channel 7 which would turn out to be H&A? I have googled but nothing. Just a month would do.

Talking of Alan Bateman he would have been 77 on 2nd January.

Written down the Ailsa 'ghost' storyline would probably come across as ridiculous and stupid, something a trashy American soap would come up with - but it was actually such a great storyline. It was funny, dark and emotional too. It was also very character lead, which is why it works so well.

I always remember the scene when 'Ailsa' and Alf are talking to each other sitting on the couch, I think they were talking about how he's missed her since she died - he put's his arm around her and says something along the lines of 'I never want to let you go'... Leah is secretly watching on looking concerned, and we see a shot of Alf sitting there with his arm around nothing. It's quite a sad scene.

I have a quesiton...well sorry if it sounds silly...

It's something I remember from a older episode (probably in 1996)...there was a scene of Shane leaning over the bridge while Travis and Angel are trying to stop him from falling over it or jumping off it. That's all I can remember in my mind.

I had been trying to find it on the Internet but nothing there. It would be apperciated if someone can help me please. Thanks.

And sorry if it was not true... It was just still there in my mind for years and that's why I wanted to ask this question.
