Jess Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 I'm sorry my reviews have been so few and far between; I am reading, honestly. I'm lovin' all the fast updates, Rach. I've always been a massive J&M hater and I'm dreading them reuniting on Home and Away, but you make them so likeable in this fic. I just want Lisa to go away already and leave them alone, although she is so amusing. I mean, c'mon, how naїve can one person be?! I agree with what Barbara said about Kim above, too. What is it with guys?! But, of course, Jack's different. Gah, I want a guy to say this to me... “Martha, I honestly don’t need a present from you...you’ve already given me the greatest gift I could ever want." Update soon? *smiley, angelic face* I hope uni and exams are going okay, by the way. I'm in my final year of 'A'-Levels now and spending more time than ever on BttB and the stress is insane! Gahhh!
bay girl Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Yes, spill the beans to Lisa. Will be oh so joyful. HEHE. So glad he didn't go through with the deed with Lisa. Would have been horrible. Update soon. Lovin it.
stephyrose4 Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 Aw awesome chapter also again! It's getting really good, Hopefully Martha finds Jack.. They shouldn't go back to the hotel ANyways update asap coz it's soo so so so good!
Tasha Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 Go Away Lisa!! Cant Jack just break up with her without telling anyone about him and Martha. He can just say he is not ready for a relationship or something lame like that, and still keep his promise to Martha Great chapter More please
KaitieL Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 What a nice surprise for me to come on and find two updates waiting for me. Lisa is evil and sex crazed. I kinda hope she finds out about them, but then I don't want them to get caught out. It's bound to happen soon, though. Jack coming to her rescue like that. More please.
valli Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 Hey, Rach, you're updating too fast. I don't get time to reply Anyway, I have time now. Review for chapter 31: Yay for Jack, the hero! And what a jerk that guy was. He totally deserved being beaten by Jack >.< Favourite part: “Martha, I honestly don’t need a present from you … that’s not what this day should be about” he gently rubbed her side, “and besides, you’ve already given me the greatest gift I could ever want”. She frowned in question, looking into his eyes, “Really? What’s that?” He smiled, gently touching her cheek as he spoke, “your heart”. So sweet. Why don't I have a boyfriend like that? >.< at Tasha's reaction after the fight. Review for chapter 32: Phew, for a moment I thought Jack was going to sleep with Lisa O_o I can't believe that she hasn't figured it out yet. She's so naive O_o Favourite part: Kim chuckled to himself as he watched her walk away, “wonder what she’s got planned,” he smirked smartly, “I doubt you’ll be getting much sleep tonight mate”. Boys More please!
vale4eva Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 Thanks everyone! I'm sorry my reviews have been so few and far between; I am reading, honestly. I'm lovin' all the fast updates, Rach. I've always been a massive J&M hater and I'm dreading them reuniting on Home and Away, but you make them so likeable in this fic. Its nice to know you read this fic Jess, especially considering you dont like Jack and Martha that much lol Obviously I must be doing something right Ok, as you can see, I'm trying to finish this as soon as possible. Not that I dont still love this fic (even if I do say so myself ) I have 5 chapters left (that are actually written - they still need to be edited etc) and then I'll have to start writing some more *groan* lol Ive got my last exam next thursday though, so when I come back off my short weekend break (15th-18th), I'll be able to focus soley on this *Big Grin* Anyhoo, thats just a little life-update for you Thanks again for commenting peeps! Warning: Chapter not suitable for younger readers! Enjoy! Chapter 33: Rushing out of the hotel entrance, she came to a stand still. Looking left, right and centre, she tried to locate him; but strangely he was nowhere to be seen. Deciding to circle the hotel, she came to a familiar spot, a hidden crevice that they had previously escaped to when they were in need of some privacy. As she had hoped, he was there… “Jack” she softly called out to him; cautiously eyeing up his state of upset and agony. He failed to answer; instead he just placed his hand to his forehead in distress as he sobbed; his back leant up against the wall as he stood in the far corner to remain out of sight. “Oh god” she whispered through sadness and fear. Devastated at the state she had found him in. “Jack” she gently called out to him once again. “Gosh, what have I done to you” she stepped towards him, carefully leaning over and cupping his cheek. He was almost a distinct picture of a lost and broken little boy. Moving further forward she wrapped her arms around his body, before resting her head on the comfort of his warm chest. She soon felt as he encompassed her body in his arms; pulling her in closer and sobbing into her hair. They stood like this for almost five minutes; gently beginning to rock from side to side in a calming motion, helping to soothe and relieve some of the sadness. “What happened?” she spoke up softly, pulling her head outwards from where it was tucked, as she looked with concern into his watery eyes. He released his hold of her, pulling away to produce a breathing gap, and wiping his tear-stained cheeks. “It’s simple really … she wanted to make tonight special … to … to take things further” he stuttered in his whimper “… and I tried …but I couldn’t…” he cried. Her face fell at his comment; she knew there would be a time when Lisa would want to take things further, but she just presumed that Jack would be able to handle it, he was always rather good at getting himself out of sticky situations; it was evident to her now however, that she hadn’t truly anticipated the impact this nightmare would have on him. “You should have seen her face Martha” he continued as he sniveled away his tears; “it was like all of the happiness just drained away…there was nothing left but sadness…” She listened hard, inside her heart broke at the hurt both Jack and Lisa were experiencing. He released a loud exhale, “I hate putting her through this, she doesn’t deserve it … and I’d hate for her to think it was all her fault, like she’d done something wrong … I couldn’t stand it” his voice was masked with so much pain and sadness as he spoke. Taking another deep breath, he cleared his throat, doing his best to take control of his emotions. “You know,” he started once again; his voice low and hoarse, “I don’t think we thought this through enough” he said. She frowned; looking into his eyes in question, “What do you mean?” He shrugged; “Well, you just came up with the idea on the spare of the moment, and I just went along with it … we didn’t even think about how much this would hurt her. Because the bottom line is, yeah, Tony will be hurt, but he’ll deal with it. But Lisa, she’ll be broken, her boyfriend and her best friend going at it behind her back … That’s not something you can just get back from” he told her. “Yeah but,” she frowned, her shoulders shrugging slightly, “it’s not like that though is it” she replied as she struggled with her words, “… the situation, it’s more complicated”. “Yeah, only because we’ve made it complicated” he scoffed weakly as he rolled his eyes. “No Jack, we’re only trying to do what’s best for everyone … and maybe in time, she’ll understand,” she added in wary. He looked at her as if she was crazy, “how will she? We’ve been seeing each other behind her back Martha … sleeping together right under her nose! How on earth will she find an understanding in that!?” “But … it’s not like its some random sexual affair, we love each other, that makes a difference,” she tried to reason with him; but deep down she knew she was clinching at straws. “Oh Martha” he sighed as he gently shook his head, “can you please stop being so naïve …” she frowned at his words, “this is the real world, and the fact is; we have screwed over our family and friends…” he told her, before glancing out into the open air, “I honestly cant see how there’s any good that can come from this”. He said, as he virtually began to give up. Her face remained fixed in a frown, “Jack don’t! You’re scaring me” she whispered as her eyes filled over with tears. Turning back to face her, he took note of her watery eyes; her fear and sadness almost too unbearable for Jack to witness. Sighing once again he continued, “I’m sorry” he hushed back, before stepping forward and welcoming her into his arms. “Look, no matter what, we’ll still have each other” he said with encouragement, " … and you know, they say time is a great healer, so who knows what could happen” he tried his best to remain positive, although right now it was all looking rather bleak. She nodded into his chest, the tears gradually seeping out at her realization of how bad this was. “You know … looking back, I wish I hadn’t been so selfish,” she cried, “I wish I’d just listened to you … maybe then we’d all have been better off”. “I’m so sorry Jack” she sobbed as she pulled away; looking into his eyes, “… I’m sorry I’ve put you through all of this” she looked up at him helplessly as her tears poured down her cheeks. “Oh please dont cry" he ran his hands up and down her arms in comfort, “it’ll all be ok in the end, you’ll see” he said; looking deeply into her eyes. It was now Jacks turn to comfort his crying partner, as he held her in his arms and kept her close to him… ………………………………… The tears eventually subsided as they stood squashed together in the corner, wrapped up in each others arms… “What are we going to do Jack?” she asked from out of the silence; huffing loudly, “It’s such a mess”. She shook her head in almost disbelief at their current situation. “Well, for starters, I’ll have to go back inside and talk to her” he began, causing Martha’s forehead to frown once again through sadness; she hated to think of Jack having to go through all of this on his own. “What will you say to her?” she kept her head tucked in the comfort of his chest as she spoke. Her arms hugging his body even tighter; never wanting to let go. “I don’t know … I’ll have to just make something up and hope she bys it” he sighed. She nodded slowly. “And then when we get back … I’m going to end it with her” he added. Martha’s head rose at his final sentence; “you’re going to end it?” she questioned him as she pulled away. “Yeah, I think its time don’t you? This has gone on long enough.” He told her. She again nodded back slowly, before leaning back inwards and snuggling into his chest. “And then, in two weeks we can finally be honest, your exams will be out of the way, so we’ll be free to tell them the truth”. She remained clung onto him; her eyes closing shut and her forehead frowning as she mentally tried to block out her increasing apprehension; she was dreading the day when she would have to face her father with the truth … just the uncertainty of how he would react made her feel physically sick. “I think I should get going now” he said in reluctance, as he ran his fingers through her hair, “she’ll be wondering where I am … plus, I owe her an explanation; whatever that may be” he spoke in a sigh, “it’s the least she deserves right now”. She nodded slowly, peeling herself away from him, “ok” she replied, “Will you be alright?” she asked, looking into his eyes. “Yeah, of course” he gave her an encouraging smile; but Martha wasn’t fooled, she could see straight through it. “Are you sure?” she frowned in question; her eyes darting into his for answers. “Yeah, I’ll be fine … there’s nothing a good cry can’t fix” he smiled. “You know, I think I’ve actually cried more in the space of two weeks, than I have in my whole entire life” he smirked in a weak chuckle. “Yeah, me too actually” she rolled her eyes smiling. “We both just need a good night sleep I recon; it’ll all look brighter in the morning” he added. She nodded in agreement, “Yeah, hopefully” she forced a small smile. “Ok, well, good luck” she said, before leaning up onto her toes and kissing him softly on the lips, “I love you” she whispered as she pulled away. “I love you too”.
