Chapter 30

The next day

Jack was just sitting there staring at the papers Martha had handed him only minutes before; he couldn’t help but wonder if she did really love him. She wouldn’t even let him explain the truth.

So Jack did the only thing he could, he signed the papers up and left them on the table.

Jack was sitting on the couch feeling sad when Martha walked in, Jack just looked at her.

“Hi” she said.

Jack didn’t reply, he just looked at her.

“Ok then” she said sitting down next to him.

“Look Jack I know you’re upset, but…..” before she could get any further Jack had cut her off.

“But what Martha! You won’t even let me explain what happened, you just throw divorce papers at me without knowing the full story” he said angrily.

“You know what I can’t even believe I was going to ask for the full story” she snapped back.

“Oh” Jack said back embarrassed.

“Yeah oh is right!” she said.

“Ok well um I’m going to have a shower now” Jack said.

Once Jack had gone to have a shower, she walked over to the kitchen, when she noticed the divorce papers, they were signed, Martha was shocked.

Martha sat down at the table and stared at the papers, was her marriage to Jack Holden really over? She couldn’t help but let a tear fall.

A couple of minutes later

Martha was still sitting at the table, she had a pen in her hand, ready to sign the papers but something was holding her back, the love she had for her husband. She couldn’t just throw it away like that, she was hurt by Jack’s betrayal but she couldn’t just end her marriage like that.

Jack walked through to the kitchen, when he saw Martha sitting at the table looking at the papers.

“Um are you ok” he asked her.

“What do you think Jack” she replied annoyed.

“I only signed them because I thought that’s what you wanted” Jack said.

“Yeah well it doesn’t matter what I want, what do you want. She said to before getting up and going for a walk, leaving Jack deep in his thoughts.

Chapter 31

That night

Jack had decided he needed some time to think, so he asked Rach to look after Lily while he went to Noah’s to have a couple of drinks with Lucas.

“Hey Lucas” he said walking into the rather empty bar.

“Hey Jack, how are you” he asked.

“Well apart from the fact that my marriage is pretty much over, yeah I’m fantastic” he replied sarcastically.

Lucas could tell Jack was hurting.

“Oh…. I’m so sorry man” Luc said giving Jack a sad smile.

“Thanks” Jack said back.

“Lets go and it down ae” Lucas said, starting to walk over to a seat.

Jack turned around and started to follow, he happened to look over at the couch and it was like his world fell apart, his wife who he loved with all his heart was out on a date with another man. He could handle it. Right there and then he walked over more determined than ever to get his wife back.

“Hi Martha” Jack said.

“Hi” she replied back a little shocked to see Jack standing there.

“And who are you?” the guy sitting next to Martha asked Jack.

“I’m her husband” Jack said with pride.

“Oh” was all the guy could say.

“I thought you weren’t married” the guy asked Martha.

Just as the guy said that, Jack looked down at Martha’s hand, she wasn’t wearing her wedding ring.

“I can’t believe this” Jack said storming out of Noah’s.

“Jack wait” Martha cried out, but Jack just kept walking, he didn’t feel like talking to her at the moment, Martha decided to follow him, she had to explain.

The beach

Jack had just kept walking, ignoring Martha’s calls for him to stop and let her explain.

Finally Jack stopped, he couldn’t run any longer, he was exhausted and hurt.

Martha had managed to find Jack, after a while of searching.

“Jack please let me explain” Martha pleaded.

“How is this any different” Jack mumbled

“What? What do you mean?” she asked curiously.

“Why should I let you explain Martha you still haven’t let my explain bout Hayley” he said raising his voice.

Martha was speechless she didn’t know how to reply to him, ‘cause she knew he was right.

“Yea that’s right Martha, you forgot about that!” he said angrily walking away.

Martha just sat there crying.

Was her marriage really over?
