I'm stuck for ideas on where to go withthis, so I'm writing a prequel, that is giving me quite a few ideas, but, as it is not Home & Away related (it doesn't include characters from the series and isn't set in Summer Bay), so I can't post it, so if anybody wants to read it once I'm finished, just PM me and I'll send it to you - basically it lets you see what Jake's life was like in Tennessee and why her family moved to Aus, which will be included in chapter three also :)

I'll be nice and give you a chapter, but it'll be the last for about 2 weeks :)

NOTE: Bold is flashback

Chapter Three - My Blue Tears

Jake was still staring intensely at the beach, her mind still on the event which had occurred earlier on. He was going to stop, he promised – she knew she had to believe him, as much as she hated him, she trusted him. Her mobile began to ring,

“Hello?” Jake asked, confused – she had given nobody her new number,

“Jake?” A boy in a deep southern accent asked, a smile crossed Jake’s face, her eyes lighting up,

“Oh, my God! Max!” Jake said, her voice almost a squeal, “How are you?”

“I’m fine,” He replied, a silence broke out between them, both thinking about the last time they had met.

The sun was low in the sky of Pigeon Forge, TN, and many local residents were at the Dolly Parton concert occurring at Dollywood. Jake was sitting out on the front porch, staring longingly towards the large theme park, she sighed. The only reason she chose not to go, was because they were a “present” from David – but of course, he would want repayment, and she couldn’t put up with it – not again, anyway. She was sure he didn’t mean it the first time – he was drunk, he didn’t know where he was going, in her mind, it was an easy mistake to make, but she wasn’t going to take that chance. She heard loud footsteps coming from the back porch, and she twisted her head around to locate the source, frightened as hell. The noise got louder, her heart rate began to rise – everyone in this neck of the woods were seeing Dolly, who could it be?

“Jake!” She heard David’s deep voice, she let out a small sigh of relief, knowing what was about to come – an assault. Jake stood up and began to back away slowly, David noticed this, and opened his mouth, “Where ya goin’?” he asked,

“Oh, uh, nowhere,” Jake replied, her pace increasing slightly, David sped up to and took a hold of her arm, Jake yelped at the pain. Slowly pulling her into the house, he pushed her up against a wall,

“I got you the tickets – even though you didn’t go, I still need ‘repayment’” He said the last bit sinisterly as he ran forced his hand up the bottom of her t-shirt, running his hand across her stomach slowly, Jake tried to push him away, but he pushed her back harder, “Now now,” She heard as he pulled her skirt down. She heard him fumble with his belt, before hearing the sound of leather against denim as her pulled the belt out. He undid the button on the jeans, and pulled the fly down, allowing the jeans to fall, Jake began to scream, but David placed his hand over her mouth roughly. Tears began rolling down her face as he entered her forcefully, as he pumped in and out of her violently.

“Jake!” They heard someone call as the door opened. Max’s face turned to shock as he saw what was going on.

“I was thinkin’ ‘bout what happened when, you know...” Max said through the phone, “Have you told anyone?”

“No,” Was all Jake replied, staring out at the ocean one last time, before flinging her guitar around her shoulder and standing up, “You better not have,” Jake said sternly as she began to walk back up to her house,

“No, but you oughta – he’s just gonna keep doin’ it if you don’t,” He told her – they spent the next five minutes arguing over this,

“Jake!” She heard her mother call out as she reached the front of the house, “Come inside, dinner’s ready!” Willadeene walked back into the house,

“I gotta go,” She said through the phone,

“Think about what...” But Jake cut Max off, pressing the ‘end call’ button.

The sun was beginning to rise over Summer Bay, Matilda’s alarm began to ring – 6:00, she stuck her hand out from under the blanket and pressed the snooze button, before remembering the day, opening her eyes widely, Matilda climbed out of bed and walked to the bathroom, turning the hot tap up to its highest, before stepping under it, Geoff Campbell was finally going to be back, she thought as the water gushed over her body, maybe Belle Taylor would get the general idea – Geoff was not interested in her, he was with Matilda, the water travelled along her body as these thoughts travelled through her head, a smile appearing on her face – yet another way to get back at her for letting her secret slip, not that she cared, Belle had actually did her a favour, and she was grateful for it.

Matilda pushed the key into the ignition of her car and turned, waiting for it to start. She checked her mirrors before pushing down on the accelerator

“BEEP BEEP!” Matilda heard from behind her; she looked in the mirror and noticed Aden and Cassie, she grinned, before pulling over on the side of the road. Aden climbed out of the car and walked over to Mattie.

“How did I know you’d be here?” He chuckled slightly, Matilda grinned again,

“I’ll be late to Geoff’s if I wait here,” was all Matilda said, before taking off again, laughing to herself as she saw Aden left in a cloud of dust. He had been kind to her throughout her ordeal, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t have fun. 10 minutes later, Matilda had pulled up outside the Campbell residency – Coach Campbell would have taken Geoff, but he had to leave at the ungodly hour of 6 to get ready for the teams first match since Geoff had been shot. Matilda walked up to the door and rapped on it slightly, she heard a bustle followed by the door opening,

“Hey, Matilda,” Geoff said, dressed in school uniform with his backpack flung across his good shoulder, “You ready?”

“Yeah,” Matilda replied, before moving in and placing her lips on his, they kissed slowly for a few moments, before pulling away, a smile plastered across Geoff’s face, “You’ll do fine!” She told him as they made their way to Matilda’s car.

What did you think. Also, my plot has gone through a few changes, and the fic will mainly focus around Jake and Lucas (whom, to fit in with this story, will have his personality changed drastically :P), but will still include Geoff, Mattie, Belle, Aden & Cassie - also, th title 'Turning Point' no longer fits with this story, so do I PM a librarian to get it changed, or a mod...?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm . . .

That was . . . Intense!

Poor Jake, how could someone do that to anybody is beyond me . . .

Maybe Jake could find out about what Mattie went through!

then she could start to open up!

Glad you updated, cant wait for more! :)

Just informing people about a few 'need to know' (not really ) facts...

I have decided on 16 chapters at the present, but this may change, and they should all be very long, the chapters are as follows...

1. After The Goldrush (from the Trio 2 album)

2. Boulder to Birmingham (from the All I Can Do album)

3. My Blue Tears (from the Coat of Many Colors album)

4. Before The Next Teardrop Falls (from the Treasures album)

5. Crippled Bird (from the Something Special album)

6. Dagger Through The Heart (from the Halos and Horns album)

7. It's Such A Heartache (from the Real Love album)

8. Go To Hell (from the For God and Country album)

9. Gamble Either Way (from the Burlap and Satin album)

10. Dump The Dude (from the Rainbow album)

11. Blowin’ In The Wind (from the Those Were The Days album)

12. Red Hot Screaming Love (from the Rainbow album)

13. Tennessee Homesick Blues (from the Rhinestone soundtrack and/or the Ultimate Dolly Parton album)

14. The Salt In My Tears (from the Hungry Again album)

15. The River Unbroken (from the Rainbow album)

16. Travelin' Thru (from the Transamerica soundtrack)

All but Chapter 16 are named after Dolly Parton songs that Jake may or may not be singing. Lucas is somewhat of a completly new character - same on the exterior, but he is more complex. You may have noticed the name change, it is a reference to the plot . I hope that will answer everyone's questions when the time comes, and thanks again for the comments :)

Okay, this chapter was intentionally going to be longer, but I couldn't add some stuff in ntil I reserached a bit, so here is chapter four :). I have to say that the wahave wrote Jake's accent isn't racist, it is how Tennesseeans talk (I've been to Tennessee a few times :))

Chapter Four – Before The Next Teardrop Falls

“Ah, Miss Farris,” Sally said as Jake walked into the front office with her mother, “How are you feeling?” Jake gave a shrug, brushing her hair over her cheeks with her hand,

“Alright, I ‘spose, a bit nervous,” Jake said, her accent standing out even more, it took Sally a few moments to decipher what Jake had said,

“Ah, that’s natural, a new school in a new country,” Sally said, “Willadeene, if you want, just go into my office and I’ll explain everything after I give Jake her timetable and books,” Sally said to her new secretary, Willadeene nodded, and gave Jake’s shoulder a squeeze,

“You’ll do fine,” She said, before turning towards Sally’s office. Butterflies began to swarm around Jake’s stomach as it hit her, she wasn’t going to have her mother around her all the time here,

“So Jake---” Sally began, but stopped mid sentence, “What happened to your face?” she asked, noticing small purple patches across her left cheek,

“What?” Jake asked, pulling out a compact, flipping it open she looked into the mirror, her heart began to beat wildly, possible excuses running through her head, “Oh, that, got into a fight with my enemy – the wall, I’m dead clumsy,” Jake explained, and again, it took Sally a few moments to decipher her accent,

“Oh, okay,” Sally said suspiciously, before turning to the office administrator, “Molly, can you please pass me Jake Farris’s timetable, locker key and books?” she asked, Molly rummaged through a few draws before finally pulling out the small timetable and key, she passed it to Sally, followed by a container of books,

“Thankyou,” Jake said as Sally passed her the container and key, she placed them on the floor and waited expectantly for her timetable,

“Ah, 11A,” Sally said, before handing over the timetable, Jake nodded her thanks, “Follow me,” Sally told the teenager.

Outside the front entrance of Summer Bay High, Matilda and Geoff were standing still, staring at the door,

“Are you ready?” Matilda asked her boyfriend soothingly, Geoff shook his head,

“I can’t do this Matilda, I can’t out up with everyone’s constant looks and questions, and pity,” He said, his voice shaky, Matilda clasped his hand in hers and gave a comforting squeeze before placing her head on his shoulder,

“You’re going to have to face everyone sooner or later,” She told him as his continued staring at the door, “And you’ve got me, Cassie and Jeffries to deal with everyone,” Matilda gave Geoff a smile, he returned it,

“Okay,” Geoff said, breathing out deeply, “Here we go,” He released Mattie’s hand and began walking towards the building slowly, Matilda in tow. As the pair entered the corridor, a hush fell and people turned to face them,

“Just keep going. Ignore it,” Matilda whispered to Geoff as they made their way to the lockers,

“Geoff!” A shrill female voice called out, Geoff turned around and saw Belle Taylor running towards him,

“Here comes trouble,” Matilda sighed as Belle reached them, she pushed Matilda out of the way slightly to get closer to Geoff,

“Hunter,” Belle said in acknowledgement before focusing her attention on Geoff, “So Geoff, how are you feeling?” She asked, chatter broke out as people began to lose interest,

“Not to bad, now if you’ll excuse me, Matilda and I have to get to our lockers,” Geoff said politely, turning his back on the brunette, Belle gasped slightly as the rejection sunk in. Geoff and Matilda proceeded to their lockers, walking past groups of gossiping students who occasionally stopped and stared at the couple.

“Geoff, mate!” Aden said as they reached their lockers, Aden was standing with Cassie beside Geoff’s locker, Aden stuck out his and Geoff grabbed it, before turning to Cassie,

“Hey Turner,” He said, ruffling her hair, Cassie gave him a warning look and Geoff backed down,

“Watch it Campbell, just because I’m seeing your best friend and you’re seeing mine doesn’t mean we’re friends,” Cassie said, giving him a subtle smile, Geoff returned this.

“Matilda!” Matilda heard, looking around she saw Sally Fletcher walking towards her with a blond girl walking beside her, “Can I ask you a favour?” She inquired as she reached them, “Welcome back, Geoff,” Sally said, noticing him for the first time,

“Yeah, sure Ms. Fletcher,” Matilda replied, “What is it?”

“I’d like you to show Jake here around the school,” Sally said, indicating the blond, “I’d ask someone else, but you don’t act like a wild animal, like other people – present company excluded of course,” Sally added quickly as three pairs of eyes focused in her direction,

“Sure, Ms. Fletcher,” Matilda nodded,

“I knew I could count on you Mattie,” Sally said, before walking away, laving Jake with the small group,

“Hi, I’m Matilda Hunter, but my friends call me Mattie,” Matilda said to the girl, Jake nodded,

“Hi Matilda,” Jake began in her deep Southern accent, Geoff, Cassie and Aden looked taken aback – never in their life had they heard this accent spoken so near to them, “I’m Jake Farris,”

“Well Jake, welcome to Summer Bay Zoo – sorry, High,” Matilda said, Cassie giggled, “This is Geoff Campbell,” Matilda said, indicating the blond boy, Geoff nodded a hello,

“I heard somethin’ ‘bout c’you from somebody down thare, his name was Lucas,” Jake said, pointing towards a group of lockers, the footballers were standing in clusters, “You were shot by someone, protecting a girl?”

“Yeah, that’s true,” Aden told her, “What about it?”

“Nothin’” Jake said timidly, Matilda hit Aden over the back of the head, he mocked pain for a moment, resulting in Cassie bursting into hysterics, Jake looked at her intensely for a moment, evaluating that she must be a natural blond.

“This is Aden Jeffries,” Matilda said, pointing to the other male, she then pointed to Cassie, “And this is Cassie – she’s always like this – finding random things funny, that is, she’s so... random!” Matilda told Jake, she nodded again, looking around the hall, noticing all the same cliques that had been at her old school, the Bimbos, the Jocks, the Emos, the Geeks and the Outsiders.

“So, Jake, what do you do for fun?” Cassie asked the teenager, Jake focused her attention back on the group,

“I play guitar, and sing – yes, hillbilly music,” She added, noticing the look Aden had on his face,

“I didn’t tell you, did I?” Matilda asked, “I saw Jake down at the beach the other day – she had a beautiful voice, so pure,” Matilda told her friends, Jake smiled at Matilda as the bell for form group rang.

This soon enough :P?

This chapter may seem rushed, but it sets up the rest of the fic, and I realised how much I missed Lisa, so I wrote her in :D. Enjoy...

Chapter Five – Crippled Bird

The first few periods had flown by for Jake; she kept her head down and avoided drawing attention to herself unless necessary,

“How were your lessons?” Matilda asked the blond as she reached her locker; Jake gave a half-shrug,

“Not to bad – that Bartlett can carry on though, can’t he?”Jake said, pulling the key out of her pocket, Matilda nodded, looking around for Aden, Cassie and Geoff,

“I've already told you, Lucas,” I don’t want to talk about it,” Matilda heard Geoff’s voice, she looked around, not seeing him, she turned her attention on the area the footballers were and noticed Cassie,

“You wait here,” Matilda told the Tennessean as she began to make her way over to her best friend, she saw Geoff and Aden in the group,

“So, do you reckon you’ll be able to start playing again, soon?” An unfamiliar voice asked,

“He doesn’t want to talk about it, so why don’t you just leave him alone?” Matilda said aggressively to the group, they turned to face her, menacing looks on some of their faces,

“And what are you going to do if we don’t, Hunter?” Lucas said her, Matilda backed away a little,

“I’ll—I’ll do something!” Matilda snapped, the footballers laughed, “Listen, Lucas, try and get this through your thick skull – Geoff doesn’t want to talk about what happened. Consider this, you’ve been shot, saving a classmate, you watch as she is brutally raped, and can’t take it anymore – everyone else is gawking at it like it’s a circus show, you try and fight the man off and he pulls out a gun, you knock it out of his hand and make a dive for it, but you’re to slow, and this bigger guy picks it up and shoots you at close range, still no one helps. Holden, does that should like something you would want to talk about?” Her voice was shaky now, tears rolling down her face as she remembered the night that she and Geoff had met, her guilt that a decent guy was gunned down for her, “Now **** off before I get angry!” She shouted to the group, they looked taken aback before walking away,

“Nice,” Aden said, nodding his approval, Matilda gave his a smile as tears rolled down her face uncontrollably, breathing in and out deeply.

“Sorry,” She said to Geoff, he didn’t say a word; he placed his arms around her and pulled her into a tight embrace.

“So Matilda was the one Geoff was protecting,” Jake asked Cassie – she nodded, looking deeply disturbed at the description Matilda had given.

***

“Ja-Jake,” David slurred as she entered her house, David was sitting in the dining room with nearly a dozen empty bottles of Lighthouse Lager surrounding him, “Come over her...” He said, Jake began walking away rapidly, but David was faster, he kicked the chair he was sitting on back and raced to her, he grasped her arm tightly,

“Let go of me!” Jake screamed, David placed his hand over her mouth and began to unzip her dress...

***

“David! Jake! I’m home!” Willadeene called out from the foot of the stairs, Jake emerged with her guitar slung over her shoulder,

“I’m just gonna go down the beach for a while,” Jake informed her mother as she walked past her, Willadeene placed her hand on Jake’s shoulder softly, Jake flinched, before regaining her composure,

“Before you go, how was your first day?” Her mother asked her, Jake shrugged before walking out of the house, “Teenagers,” Willadeene muttered in exasperation.

***

Matilda pulled her car up outside the Campbell house and saw Miranda walking up the driveway, grabbing an official looking envelope from the seat beside her, Matilda climbed out of the car, locking it,

“Matilda, hi,” Miranda said cheerily, “Geoff’s inside – I’m just going down the Noah’s, so you’ll have the house you yourself,” Miranda gave Matilda a smile before continuing to walk along. Walking up to the front door, Matilda pulled out the spare key George had given to her whilst she was tutoring Geoff; she placed the key in the lock and turned.

“Geoff!” Matilda called out as she pushed the wooden door open slowly, she walked into the large house, closing the door behind her,

“I’m up here!” Geoff called out from what Matilda assumed was his bedroom. She climbed up the stairs and pulled open his door. She saw Geoff sitting on his bed, official looking documents surrounding him,

“You got one too?” Matilda asked, looking at the ‘City of NSW’ logo on one of the documents, “Do we have the same date?”

“August 9th?” Geoff asked his girlfriend; Matilda pulled out the first sheet of paper and looked down,

“Yep,” She replied, sitting down next to Geoff. She placed her arm around him and out her head on his shoulder, “I love you,” she said,

“I love you to,” Geoff replied, kissing his girlfriend tenderly.

***

Oh, to die, ‘twould be a pleasure, slow to heal, but quick to cry, fragile as a sparrow’s feather, crippled bird too blue to fly. Oh, the loss is cold and shameful...” Jake sang as she strummed, but was interrupted by the sound of clapping,

“Beautiful,” Lucas said, walking up behind her, “And drunk to,” He pointed out, noticing a bottle of Johnnie Walker next to her,

“I’m not drunk,” Jake defended herself. Standing up, she staggered a bit, and Lucas laughed,

“You coulda fooled me,” He said grasping her arm, Jake pulled it away and Lucas looked at her oddly,

“I can walk myself,” She said rapidly, picking up her guitar and bottle of alcohol, “I’m Jake,”

“Hi Jake, I’m Lucas,” He said to the blond, he stuck his hand out; Jake clasped it and shook, “Do you wanna go for a walk?” Lucas asked her, he chuckled as she tripped on a stick; she stumbled a bit before regaining her balance,

“Nearly went!” She announced as Lucas laughed, he grabbed her hand and started guiding her to a small, secluded area of the beach. “Where are we?” she asked the boy, she noticed a brown-haired female sitting on the sand,

“Lisa!” Lucas called to the girl; she turned around and saw the pair. Lisa stood and walked over to them,

“Is it safe to have her here?” Lisa whispered to Lucas, jerking her head in Jake’s direction, Lucas nodded,

“She’s cool,” Lucas told Lisa, taking a seat on the sand, Jake and Lisa followed suite. Sticking his hand in his jacket pocket, Lucas pulled out a folded piece of paper. Jake watched as he unfolded it carefully, before placing it down on his lap, a white substance sitting in the middle of it,

“And that would be...?” Jake asked, already knowing the answer,

“Tiffany – the best coke you can get around here,” He told her, pulling out a purple five dollar note and rolling it up, “You want some?”

“No thanks, but you do right ahead,” Jake said to Lucas and Lisa, she watched as they split it into two rows, and as Lucas placed the note to his nose...
