Barbara Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 A few days ago I went through my closet at literally threw out 3/4 of what was in there, so now I literally don't have anything to wear. I went shopping last week, but I think I need to work on getting more colours into my wardrobe, as I once again ended up buying white (they were very nice, white shirts though). Then again, after going through most of the stores here I think I'll be wearing white and black for a while. It seems like all the colours that are in style right now look horrible on me. That's the perfect excuse to go shopping. If you had mentioned the black flats two weeks ago, I could have checked when I went to the big Primark in London. Like haaxhaa, I bought a nice pairs of PJ's there. So cute and so comfy!
defying_gravity Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 if you're looking for colours that will go with everything and are seasonal you can't go wrong with black, white, grey, cream, beige and navy...i know they sound kind of boring but if u buy you staple clothes in those colours they will more than likely match with whatever colours are in for the particular season.
MissOlivia22 Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 I have a bad habit of avoiding colour just in case I end up mis matched and looking stupid. The majority of my wardrobe is Black, White, Grey and dark blue......
haaxhaa Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 At the moment I'm loving the Nautical Look - is anyone with me on this? Everytime I pass a Vogue magazine I get this weird urge to buy it, and then I end up spending like £3 on a magazine that has clothes in it that cost more than my house! - Though it does give me some inspiration to dream on.... Hmmm note to self, stick to Heat

See, that's something that annoys me. In lots of magazines (even teen magazines), they show you very expensive clothes, shoes and accessories most women can't even afford. What's the point? Why don't they show clothes which look like the expensive ones but which we can find in shops like H&M, Zara, Topshop etc. ?
haaxhaa Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 ^ I know, I would write to Vogue to complain but the stamp would probably cost too much Today went shopping with my mum, walked the shops flat... and there was barely anything nice, all the clothes are cheapily made and then put out on sale for a ridiculous price, one wash and it's literally a rag! Plus it was chucking it down, and it figures that I'd forget my brolly, so got drenched. After 2 hours, pouring rain we ended up driving to Peacocks and getting everything we needed from there!

That's my problem, I have heaps of clothes in black, white and grey, enough to go with pretty much anything. It's the colours to go with them I'm missing Everytime I pass a Vogue magazine I get this weird urge to buy it, and then I end up spending like £3 on a magazine that has clothes in it that cost more than my house! - Though it does give me some inspiration to dream on.... I can see what you mean, but then again, I think in many ways the magazines are also means to be seen in the same way as fancy runway shows: as inspiration. Many of these expensive pieces are so extravagant and stand-out looking you probably wouldn't want to wear them, even if they look great on a model or in a magazine collage. Just like runway outfits, who'd wear any of the insane colours, and sheer synthetics by Christopher Kane, or the crazy heels from Dior's runway, or the super-retro collections from Michael Kors? They look amazing on the runway, but wouldn't work for anyone at a party or anywhere else, so it's more of an inspiration thing if you ask me. You see the colours and how they complement each other, and you get ideas for how you can get the same effect, or even the same look, just more toned down and casual, by using things you see and transferring the impressions to more normal clothes

Eli Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 I need your opinion on something... UGGs... Love it or hate it? And why? Also, if anyone has any good fashion/style related blogs to recommend, I'd appreciate that too
