HeavenForbid Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 Ok, I really like Laura. She was one of my favourites to win. But watching last night's episode, it seems like she struggled singing with the piano. After she stopped playing, she was fantastic! I think if she left the piano part out, she would have survived. I'm sad that she is gone because like I said she was one of my favourites.
claire_louise Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 Once Laura was in the bottom two, maybe there was an element of 'let's get rid of her while we can' from Simon and Louis. Maybe on Louis' part, but I don't think Simon would do that. Obviously he wants his act to win, but whatever happens he's the one who makes all the money, so it's not really in his interests to vote out the competition. It would actually make more sense for him to keep the better singers in, as they're more likely to sell records and rake in the cash for him!
Anaya Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 HOW is Daniel still in the competition. WHO is voting for him? Exactly. I get that Laura & Ruth were in the bottom 2 because they got the fewest votes, and so we can't blame anyone but ourselves for not voting for them. But the whole point of the judges vote at the end, is to save an act that is actually very good (either just had a bad week or happened to get forgotten and found themselves in the bottom), not to vote tactically and remove the better singer. It was a difficult choice, as both Ruth and Laura did perform well in the sing-off. So really Louis should have gone to deadlock and just left it up to the public vote, not vote out a great singer and performer. Ah well, it's too late now, Daniel better go next week. And I just love JLS. Simply awesome.
champagne_char Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 I think that everyone says that Laura shouldn't of gone but who ( and im guilty of this too as I didnt vote for her ither) actually voted for her. The problm with the xfactor is everyone votes for the ones they want to win, not there second or third favourites so they end up being the ones that goes and theres always a random assortment in the final!
bttb-rox! Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 I'm flabbergasted. I honestly thought Laura had it in the bag last night. I didn't think it was her best performance to date, but it was still fantastic. I'm just as shocked as Cheryl was and probably still is. Neither Laura or Ruth should've been in the bottom two, but the public obviously didn't like them as much this week. I felt so sad for Diana. It must've been horrible to watch everyone else get up on stage and sing, while she wasn't able to. I hope she starts improving soon. As for the other contestants, I thought Eoghan, Alex and JLS did a brilliant job with their songs. I know I've harped on about Alex's song choices, but she was outstanding last night. I thought Daniel had definitely improved, but I'm still not enjoying his perfromances as much as some of the others. He's a really nice guy and if it was all about that he'd sail through, but it's about voice as well and I've got serious doubts as to whether he's going to last another week . And poor Rachel. I only saw a few seconds but when I come back in she was crying and getting pretty emotional. Hopefully her confidence will pick up on Saturday.
KirstyEkua Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 I'm completely shocked she went. There's no way i would have picked her to leave at this stage. I don't understand why Laura and Ruth were in the bottom two, when people who have much less talent are still there. It's not really all about talent anymore. People get through on sympathy votes and that's not what should happen. I don't vote, so i'm guilty also, but i think people just assumed Laura would get through so didn't feel the need to vote for her. Louis should have made it go to the public vote, that would have been really interesting to see the result then.
bttb-rox! Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 but i think people just assumed Laura would get through so didn't feel the need to vote for her. I agree with that, as I think a fair bit of the public's 'voting system' is based upon complacency. If the viewer feels the contestant did well, they'll either vote because they love them and want to support them or they'll vote for their second or third favourite because they 'know' their absolute favourite will get through. I think Saturday's results were especially shocking, as Laura was considered a possible finalist by seemingly everyone.
Zetti Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 I am so pissed off because Laura was my absolute favourite along with Alexandra and JLS. Laura and Ruth shouldnt have been in the bottom two. It should have been Rachel and Daniel {still dont understand how he survived} JLS rocked with their song. I felt sorry for Diana who couldnt sing
Mrs Bishop Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 I dont vote because its a competion and if you dont vote then you really cant moan if your favorite gets booted off but who ever wins good luck to them,
Lesley Bee Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I think its really unfair the way the newspapers are picking on Diana, I've even seen something about a campaign to vote her out next, which is just so childish Ok so she screamed on bonfire night, big deal, at that stage she didn't know how serious things were, she was only feeling under the weather at that point. Its not as if she got special treatment, if any of the other contestants had fallen ill the same rule would have applied to them.
