Chapter 29 – Secrets

Belle slowly opened the door to the Beach House and walked inside, stepping aside so Justin and Aden could walk inside also before she shut the door.

Belle quickly rejoined Aden’s side as Aden turned around to face Justin

“Okay, no-one is around now, speak then get out” Aden said coldly

“Are you sure we should be speaking in front of….of her” Justin asked, pointing at Belle

“Her name is Belle, and whatever you want to say to me, you can say in front of her” Aden replied, as Belle squeezed his hand tightly

“Fine, I’m…I’m in trouble, Aden” Justin admitted, looking down to the floor rather than his little brother, the feeling of shame over coming him

“What do you mean” Aden asked, confused

Justin took a deep breath before talking again “After I ran away from home, I got mixed up with a bad crowd, supplying drugs up and down Sydney”

Aden was about to speak, but Justin didn’t allow him to

“A few months ago, there was a botched robbery at a warehouse. We all served jail time for it, some more than others”

“What” Aden exclaimed, shocked

“And now, the leader is out, and he is coming for me, he says I was the one that squealed, because I served the least time”

“Did you” Belle couldn’t help but blurt out the question

“What, no, of course not, I may be many things but I’m not a squealer” Justin replied angrily

“Right, sorry” Belle replied quickly

Noticing that Aden hadn’t spoken in a while, Justin turned to his younger brother

“Aden”

“Don’t Justin, how could you be so stupid, I understand why had you to run away, hell, If I knew what was going to happen, I would have ran with you, but what were you thinking” Aden said, unable to control his emotions

“I wasn’t thinking Aden, I was just in such a bad place, but I really need your help, please, you’re my brother” Justin begged

Aden just stared at his brother, not know what to do. He was truly caught between a rock and a hard place, he desperately wanted to help his brother, but he didn’t want to put anyone in danger, especially not Belle

Aden let out a loud sigh before speaking

“Okay, I’ll help you, but the first thing you have to do is to call the police”

Aden then dug his hands deep into his pockets before handing over his mobile phone to Justin, who stared back at him in disbelief

“I cant, I’m not a squealer” Justin said, handing the phone back over to Aden, who refused to accept it

“JUSTIN” Aden shouted “SO WHAT, YOUR JUST GOING TO KEEP RUNNING, THERE IS NO WAY THAT YOU ARE DRAGGING US INTO THIS MESS AND THEN JUST RUNNING AT THE FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE, LEAVING ME AND BELLE TO PICK UP THE PIECES”

“ADEN, STOP SHOUTING AT ME” Justin yelled, his voice bellowing above Aden’s

“So what now Justin” Aden asked, his voicing returning to its normal volume “If you want my help, let the police now”

“Fine, but I cant go on my own” Justin replied nervously “It’s only a matter of time before they find me”

Just read the last two chapters and got gripped into it again! Love the brotherly banter, very realistic!
