Lustre Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Sorry for the song gap between updates, its not great but its the best I could do, hope you enjoy it. Chapter 9b “Food?” She demanded as Aden dragged her along the hall, “we’re going to steal food from the kitchen?” “Yup.” he told her with no more explanation. “Couldn’t we just ask for it?” She asked him but laughed as they paused in front of the door. “Where would the fun be in that?” He demanded playfully. “Now shh we have to be incognito.” “Incognito?” She questioned raising an eyebrow as he looked around in mock spy poses. “I think we’re okay Aden, what are they going to do lock us up?” She asked indicating a nearby window with fine wire bars slighty obscuring the outside view. “Well if we get the good stuff then yeah maybe.” He told her as he cracked the door to the kitchen open checking for occupants before pushing her quickly through and closing it gently behind them. “You are insane!” She told him enunciating each word to get her point across. He merely smiled at her. “Like you didn’t already know that.” He turned to the cupboards opening them and peering inside before moving on to the next. “Ha!” He exclaimed as he pulled a big bag of chocolate out of a press, “I knew they had to have a stash around here somewhere.” He told Belle but turned to find her back turned to him and most of her upper body stuck in one of the massive fridges. “A stash of what?” she asked her voice muffled as she continued to root around in the fridge. He merely smiled, “I knew you were into this.” “Oh shut up.” she laughed as she pulled ingredients from the fridge and placed them on one of the counters. She smiled sweetly at him before asking, “Will you find me some flour?” “Eh okay,” he turned back to the cupboards, he knew he’d seen some when he’d been searching for the chocolate. “Here," he told her handing her a large bag of it, "what are you making?” he asked in interest. “We are making cookies.” She informed him stressing the word ‘we’. “Cool!” he responded smiling at the look on her face as she looked for cooking equipment. “What can I do?” She looked up from the scales she had found and thought for a second, he loved how she looked when she was in thought; a light frown would form on her face just a crinkle of the brow and she would bite her lip gently making him wish he could do it for her. “Well you could chop up some of that chocolate you found and we could make them chocolate chip cookies?” She propositioned. “Sure, sounds good.” He told her looking around for a knife, “I don’t really know what I'm doing anyway, my house wasn’t really the baking type.” He told her looking up form the chocolate he was cutting. He noticed her eyes snap up from where she was watching his hands work, an uneasy look on her face. “Mine neither,” She told him. “well I didn’t really have a house but I remember making these with one family when I was about seven , guess it just really stuck with me.” He glanced back down to make sure the knife wasn’t too close to his fingers, “So you moved from family to family a lot?” He asked. They hadn’t talked much about their pasts over the past month because it was easier to pretend they were normal when they were together than to delve into all the issues surrounding their enrolment in the clinic. That being said he wasn’t disinterested in knowing more about her, in fact he wanted to know everything but he had resolved not to push her just like she had him. “Yeah well I wasn’t always the loveable, well balanced and sane girl you see today.” She answered bitterly. Their gazes locked as he glanced up and a frown formed on his lips at the angry look on her face. “Sorry.” He retorted knowing it sounded stupid but he was lost for what to say to her. She sighed as he broke her gaze returning to the task he’d been assigned. “I shouldn’t have snapped." She told him her voice softening. But neither of them tried to continue the conversation. Aden jumped in fright as he felt something light but fast hit the top of his bent head. They had been working in silence for nearly ten minutes previously and when he looked up he saw a bright smile form on belles face as the flour she had thrown fell from his hair marking his face and clothes. “What was that for?” He demanded but laughed along with her. “Well you weren’t talking and it was getting all serious in here, cookies are meant to be fun.” she informed him as she reached into the bag of flour which lay in front of her. “Oh no you don’t!” He told her as he moved quickly to where she stood catching her wrist. She smiled up at him before pressing her lips to his. His grip on her wrist loosened and her arms came up to wrap around his neck. They both pulled back at the same time, Belle having dropped her handful of flour down the back of shirt while he’d taken revenge by pouring the bag on her head. There hadn’t been much left in it but it had been enough to coat her. They stared at each other for a second before Belle took off for the press where she had seen him find the flour. Aden grabbed her waist as she reached for the bag flinging another huge handful at him. Laughing loudly they fought for control there bodies covered in white powder. Belle stopped suddenly her body trapped between Aden and the counter, and he thought he’d won, smirking cockily at her he leaned forward but was stopped as he heard a noise behind him. Clearing his throat one of the doctors glared between the two teens while Rachel stood beside him attempting to hide a smile. “What is going on in here?” Dr Pullman, or at least that’s what he thought his name was, demanded. Neither teen answered as they tried to catch their breath. “Well?” He asked again. “Baking sir.” Aden spoke up. “We are eh… baking.” “And that’s why you are covered in flour?” He asked his tone disbelieving and angry. “Well no that would just be stupid, I fell in the flour.” Aden explained. “And that explains Ms Taylors state as well does it?” The doctor demanded. “Well no of course not what’s the odds of both of us falling in the flour?” Aden replied, he really had no idea where he was going with this. “Eh… Belle had an unfortunate incident with an exploding bag, it was quite shocking actually.” He finished. He could see Belle mouthing the words shut up to him and his smirk widened. “Do you find this funny Mr. Jefferies?” “No?” Aden questioned and he saw Rachel loose her battle as a laugh escaped her lips. “Oh come on Edward!” Rachel urged the doctor her hand coming to rest on his arm. “Give them a break.” “Give them a break.” He repeated his tone confused. “They have no right to be in here, they are disobeying the rules.” “The way I see it we are constantly telling them to take up a hobby, brighten their horizons.” She began. “It appears to me they are merely doing that in learning to bake, even if it seems to be rather unsuccessful.” “How you could excuse this is beyond me.” He told her as he stalked further into the kitchen looking at the flour covered floor. Aden felt Belle tug his hand and he looked up to see Rachel indicating for them to leave quietly while Pullmans back was turned. Taking control Aden pulled Belle quickly through the door mouthing a thank you to Rachel as they escaped. Laughing they ran down the hall, flour falling from their ruined clothes. Stopping Aden pulled Belle against his chest kissing her smiling lips soundly. His hands tangled in her hair as her hands went to his muscled arms to steady herself. “Should we even ask?” A voice broke them apart and they both turned to see their friends studying them and their flour trail. “Probably not.” Belle responded as she and Aden followed them back to her room.

Lustre Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 anything in italics is Adens memories Chapter 10 “So how are you feeling today?” The older man asked him leaning back in his chair. “Yeah I'm fine,” Aden told him. “doing really good actually.” “So you had a day release yesterday?” The doctor inquired hoping to get the teen talking. Aden was always difficult when it came to opening up, he’d been having counselling for two years now and yet he still had problems admitting his feelings to him. He had been hoping with the daily session’s his new residency in the clinic afforded him that it would be easier but the majority of the time he remained steadfast in his monosyllabic answers. It was those other times when he actually revealed himself to the doctor that his improvement was evident. “Yeah.” Aden told him. “Thanks for that by the way.” “Well you earned it Aden; you’ve made some pretty substantial breakthroughs since you came here.” “So what did you do?” Doctor Monroe probed. “Your foster father picked you up?” “Eh yeah Roman came.” Aden answered vaguely. “I went to the beach.” “Hey kid you ready to go?” Roman asked as Aden entered the lobby. “Yeah.” Aden smiled as Roman turned to the reception desk to sign him out. Nothing had ever been more appealing than getting out of the clinic even if it was only for a few hours he decided. But he amended this as he spied Belle sitting on the couch by the door. Spending time with Belle was definitely more appealing than anything at the moment. “Hey.” he greeted as he sat down beside her. “You still waiting for your mom?” He asked. “I thought you’d be long gone.” “She’s not coming.” Belle told him her face calm but he could tell she was upset. “Something came up.” “Belle I'm so sorry I know you were looking forward to seeing you’re brother”. He said wrapping his arm around her shoulder. “Wasn’t meant to be.” She muttered. “I'm gonna go back to my room.” “Don’t!” he told her suddenly, a plan forming in his mind, he stood heading over to roman. “Just wait one second.” The words had barely left his mouth and roman was already smiling charmingly at the receptionist, compliments dropping from his lips as he convinced her of his sons plan. “So how was it, being home?” Doctor Monroe asked. “Did you see anybody you know?” “I ran into a couple guys I know,” Aden conceded nothing. “nothing I couldn’t handle.” “Did they cause any trouble?” he pushed. “Like I said nothing I couldn’t handle.” “Are you sure Roman doesn’t mind?” Belle asked for the millionth time since they’d left the clinic. “I mean he was expecting to spend some time with you and I kinda just stole you.” “I’d hardly say stole, like you’ve pointed out before; it doesn’t really take much convincing where you’re concerned to get me to go with you”. He goaded her and she smirked knowing it was true. “Plus he said he just wants to see me happy.” He assured her. “And right now you make me very happy.” He finished dropping her hand to wrap his arm around her as they walked down the beach. Sitting down in the sand he pulled her close to his body kissing her lightly. “What’s the chances you have your swimsuit in that bag?” he asked pointing to the rucksack she’d packed in her anticipation of spending the day with Amanda. “Nope just my camera.” she told him pulling it from its place and taking a quick snap of him. “That is going on the wall!” she told him referring to the wall of pictures she had of her friends in her room. “Hey give a guy some warning would ya?” He demanded jokingly, running a hand through his hair. She laughed as he pulled the camera from her turning it on them and began to take random pictures of them together. She smiled and kissed his cheek obligingly as he took another shot. “Those are going to be awful.” she informed him taking her camera back. “Oh sorry we can’t all be professionals like you.” He retorted a smirk on his face as they reviewed the pictures. They weren’t completely terrible he decided before leaning down to kiss Belle again. “What have we got here?” A mocking voice asked from behind them. “Aden! Didn’t think I’d ever see you again.” “What do you want Mathew?” Aden demanded standing up, pulling Belle along with him. “Oh and aren’t you a hot little thing.” Mathew stated leeringly, high fiving the two cronies he had with him. “What are you doing with this loser?” “Get the hell away from us.” Aden ordered his posture stiff and angry as he pushed Belle slightly behind him protectively. “I didn’t think they let crazies like you out for beach days.” Mathew laughed. “You know he tried to kill someone right?” He asked the last part directed at Belle. “He’s not really the person that should be protecting you, in fact why don’t you come with us we’ll take real good care of you.” “I said …” Aden began but was cut off as Belle stepped forward. Mathew smiled believing he had won. “How about you turn around and walk away!” Belle suggested her voice sickeningly nice. He opened his mouth to reply but she held a hand up stopping him. “That wasn’t a question,” she told him. “It was a walk away or you’ll regret it kind of thing.” “Oh yeah and what are you gonna do?” Mathew laughed. “You’re a girl.” Belle raised an eyebrow and Aden smirked. “Don’t doubt me!” she told him through clenched teeth. “You’re just as crazy as he is.” Mathew informed her. “That’s it isn’t it, you’re from that crazy house too. You people make me…” but he didn’t get to finish as he found himself on the ground rubbing his jaw. Belle smirked down at him. “I told you not to doubt me.” Mathew’s two friends stepped forward and Aden laughed roughly. “You really think that’s such a good idea lads?” he asked. “Just get him out of here”. He told them pointing to Mathew cowering on the sand. “Did you have a good time?” Doctor Monroe asked. “How do you feel having left the clinic?” “Yeah it was fine,” Aden told him. “I'm fine.” “What happened to really good?” The doctor asked jokingly Aden smiled briefly. “Then I'm really good.” “I'm sorry Belle I didn’t know they’d be here.” Aden told her pleadingly. “It’s not a problem,” she assured him. “in fact I kinda enjoyed it. Something tells me that jerk won’t be annoying anybody anytime soon.” “You enjoyed it?” he asked in awe. “I said kinda!” she retorted a smile on her lips. “Now come on lets swim.” she ordered dropping her bag on the sand along with his. “You don’t have anything to wear.” He told her. “So I’ll wear what I have on.” She looked down to her shorts and light t-shirt. “I’ll have time to dry. Now come on.” And with that she tore off for the water. Laughing he pulled his shirt over his head and took off after her. “So would you like to do it again sometime?” Monroe asked and Aden notably perked up at this. “Yeah I would.” “Well okay. Our time is pretty much up. But I'm gonna say this Aden. As long as you keep on this positive track you’ve been on, day release will become more regular.” Monroe smiled as he watched Aden smile. “That being said feel free to share more next time, as much as I enjoy talking to myself it’s a lot easier when someone replies.” “Yeah yeah. See ya tomorrow doc.” Aden told him. “I'm glad you had a good day.” He called out after him. “Yeah,” Aden muttered under his breath as he made his way down the hall. “A really really good day.” “Hey Aden?” Belle whispered as they embraced in the water. “Yeah.” He answered as his lips travelled gently down her neck. “I think,” Belle told him her voice unsure. “that I'm in like with you.” Aden smirked leaning his forehead against hers. “Yeah well I'm in like with you too.”
