Lise Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 That was great! I can't wait to find out why Belle tried to kill herself.
mk1diva Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Belle tried to kill herself... aw poor Aden reliving them memories but I love Belle's reaction I think its just what he needed to hear at that point!
Jody Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Another great chapter. You wrote Aden telling the truth really well. I liked Belle not saying anything the second she realised what he was trying to say but waited till was done. Now I can't wait to find out why Belle tried to kill herself. Although I kind of thought that she may done that after that chapter about Belle and Mattie talking about her cutting her hair. And Belle making that comment about Amanda maybe overreacting about the fact that she used the siscors.
zzazzb Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 *wipes away tears* That was just brilliant! I'm so moved... I wish that could actually be a scene in the programme! More soon please? xoxo *offers tissues* :( sad much?! poor Aden and Belle, way to leave it there meanie, i think you should update soon pretty please?
Lustre Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 Sorry it took so long to get this up it was really hard to write and make it believable. I wrote a few versions and this was the best of a not so good bunch hope you guys dont find it too awful and forced. Anyway enjoy. Chapter 13 Silence engulfed the room as Aden stared down at Belle in shock, the words she had uttered ringing in his ears. She had tried to kill herself, the idea made him sick. How anyone could ever want to harm her let alone have it be self inflicted; the idea horrified him. “Belle why would… How could… Belle?” His brain refused to form coherent sentences as his mind raced over all the possible reasons, he knew that there was a reason for her residency at the clinic just like everyone but it didn’t make it any easier to comprehend. He realised how she must have felt during his confession minutes before. “Please don’t judge me.” She whispered her eyes trained on the ceiling above her and Aden realised how he must have sounded with incomprehension coating his voice. “Belle,” He answered back. “I would never judge you; I'm just shocked and confused. The idea of losing you is almost as painful as the idea that I may have never met you.” He tried to explain. “I just… make me understand.” He finished hoping she would trust him the way he had trusted her. “I'm adopted you know,” She began. “Well at least I was. My grandmother gave me up almost the second I was born, my real mom Amanda who brought me back here she thought I’d died. Only found out a couple years ago and came looking for me.” “Oh.” Aden replied confusion marring his voice. So far her life sounded like a soap opera. “My parents, adoptive ones that is were really great to begin with, it turned out that my mother was pregnant when they adopted me, so I had a little sister who was only seven months younger than me. We did everything together, god we even used to wear matching outfits.” She laughed at the memory obviously enjoying thoughts of her little sister before a frown crossed her face. “She died when I was seven.” Aden instinctively wrapped an arm around her hoping to comfort her without interrupting her. He understood how difficult it was to stop and start again once you had begun to talk about difficult memories. “A genetic defect, she just went to sleep and never woke up, it was such a horrible time, I didn’t really understand what was happening. They blamed themselves but never as much as they blamed me; we shared a room so I should have done something to prevent it, they would have done anything to have her back they wished I was the one who had died not her, she was theirs I wasn’t.” “Belle,” Aden finally interrupted unable to stop himself. “There is no way you can blame yourself for her death, they’re wrong I don’t even know how to explain how wrong they were. You were a kid they had no right to blame you for something obviously no one could stop.” “I ended up in care a couple months later, turns out you can give a kid back if you don’t like it.” “I’m sorry.” Aden whispered as belles head came to rest on his chest drawing comfort from his closeness. “Don’t be.” she told him. “It was the best thing to happen to me since Laurens death. I got the best foster mom, she was amazing but it didn’t last she got sick and I heard she died a couple months after I had been removed from her care. that’s when I started shifting home every few months, people didn’t know how to deal with me I wasn’t a very happy kid actually that’s an understatement…” She stopped trying to find the words to explain how she had felt back then. “No one could have expected you to be Belle , you were forced to deal with death at such a young age.” Aden consoled her unable to comprehend the actions of the people who were meant to care for her. “I was twelve the first time I tried to kill myself, isn’t that insane. What twelve year old thinks that way?” She asked but he knew she wasn’t looking for an answer. “They said it was a mistake, I downed a bottle of painkiller, everyone thought it was because it was bright pink and I was a preteen girl so obviously I was attracted to it and that’s why I did it. I never corrected them.” Belle looked up into adens shocked face as she heard him gasp but lay back down when she saw no judgment or disgust like she had half expected to. He stayed silent but stroked her hair comfortingly. “I just remember feeling this horrible emptiness and nothing would fill it. I just … I never wanted to feel that again.” She continued. “It got better for awhile, I was still moving around a lot but I was in the same area and I had friends who didn’t change as my home did. She sighed at the thought, remembering some of the happier times in her life which up until recently had been few and far between “Then they moved me here, well to the city and I was alone again. This time I chose scissors as overdosing didn’t seem to work. I was fifteen. That’s when I ended up here and met Mattie and the guys for the first time. Things got better once I could talk about it, the emptiness went away. I felt safe again like when I was little and everything was going good.” She finished. She curled closer to his body as she waited for some kind of response hoping she hadn’t scared him away. “You have no idea how special you are do you?” He asked his tone slightly disbelieving and she smiled at the love she could hear in his voice. “I think I'm starting realise,” She smiled at him. “thanks to you.” She could see worry etched into Aden’s face as he sat up suddenly looking at her apprehensively. “Why are you here?” he asked carefully. “Did you not just hear anything I said?” She asked in confusion. “I mean this time,” He explained. “why did you have to come back here, you didn’t eh…?” He asked leaving the question open in the hope he wouldn’t offend her in the way he had become used to doing when it came to questioning her mental state. “No.” she deadpanned the smile she had been sporting moments earlier nowhere to be seen. “I didn’t try to kill myself again; I would have told you that. I just made Amanda too nervous, she’s the one who took me in after I was discharged from here last time, she wanted to be the mom she had been denied the chance to be, but she felt she had to constantly watch me and … and … she couldn’t handle it so she gave me back, just like everyone else.” She finished the words difficult for her to say. And Aden noticed a tear slip down her cheek. “I liked the idea of having a real mom again.” she told him as she wiped furiously at her eyes, Aden caught her wrists gently. “She’s an idiot.” He told her pulling her as close to him as possible. “She doesn’t know what she’s missing. That being said I'm kinda grateful, I mean if she hadn’t brought you back here I never would have met you.” He explained to her before kissing her gently. “Please don’t be sad.” “I'm not, I was just enjoying being normal for awhile.” She told him. “I'm better now really I’ve never felt less empty.” “Normal’s over rated.” Aden replied lying down and pulling her with him. “I'm glad I came back too.” She told him as she let him draw her into his arms. “You’re the best thing that every happened to me.” He told her as he reached to turn off her bedside lamp, realising both needed to sleep before anymore emotional talks. “Leave it on,” She told him as she yawned, “I know why you hate the dark.” “You’ll protect me.” He responded as sleep claimed him and he realised just how training tonight had been. “Yeah, I will.” She replied a smile gracing her face as she drifted to sleep, the truth hadn’t been so difficult.
