honeychild Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 i <3 obama i think if he becomes president he'll be the best thing to happen to america for a very, very, very long time. if sarah palin gets anywhere near the white house i think i may hurt something. preferably her.
Eli Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 This is my guess: I marked Georgia and Arizona as tossup because I think they will be the two closest states. I'm pretty confident Missouri and Inidana will bounce back to Democrat and I think North Dakota and Montana once again will stabilize on GOP. I think Arizona and Georgia will end up GOP, but I think they'll be the two closest states. I think both North Dakota and Florida have stabilized on Democrat now, so those won't be the most interesting states for me; Arizona and Georgia have taken over that spot. That would make the final total GOP: 164 Dem.: 374 BTW, I accidentally made Hawaii GOP on the map, which obviously is a mistake. Anyway, I'm pretty confident Obama/Biden will bring this one home, but then again nothing's decided until all the state results are ready. Really looking forward to election night, can't wait!
Nathan. Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 I do want Barrack Obama to win the election, but I think it's almost guaranteed that there's going to be an assassination attempt, successful or not, if he does get in. I'd rather Obama not win, and be safe, then for him to win and be shot dead. Then there's John McCain. That guy is old, and if he dies while in office, then Sarah Palin will be the next president. God bless our souls if that happens... Funny...someone at work said EXACTLY the same thing a couple of months ago. Can I ask why you think it “guaranteed” there will be an assassination attempt? First of all, I'm sure you didn't do it on purpose but please, if you're going to quote me then don't take what I say out of context. I said that it's "almost guaranteed" But my answer is plain and simple. He's black. And while that sounds racist, it's fact. America is not ready for a black president, and I don't think it ever will be. That is not down to Obama, but American society. There are plenty of southern folk (note the maps above predict that all the Southern states voting for McCain/Republicans?) who will refuse to be ruled by a black man. The bigotry and hatred that was prominent in the mid-20th century is still common down south, today. It's disgusting, I agree completely, but it's a fact. There have been KKK officials who have already been asked to kill Obama, and he hasn't even become president yet. So imagine what will happen if/when he does.

There have been KKK officials who have already been asked to kill Obama, and he hasn't even become president yet. So imagine what will happen if/when he does. I don't think the KKK will do anything to Obama, why, because they've already been warned by government officials, FBI, CIA that if they were to ever think about assasinating Obama there clan will be wiped out no questions asked!!! So the losers who want to get rid of Obama are usually the ones that work alone and have no reason apart from pure hatred of other colours that will probably (hopefully not) make it happen.
Eli Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 What?! Where on earth did you ever hear that?! I very much doubt that the FBI and CIA would threaten to "wipe out" the KKK if they tried anything like that. To say they were gonna "wipe out, no questions asked" an entire clan makes then just as bad as the KKK in many ways, so I very much doubt that's ever been said. But Obama said himself that he's being protected my the best; Secret Services are shadowing him 24/7, making sure nothing happens. Obviously you can never be sure, but if Obama is at greater risk, then the better his security system probably is.
Anaya Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 I support Barack Obama and I think he will win. Hopefully the American people use their votes wisely and vote Obama. I agree with his policies on a number of issues (especially education, environment & economy), rather than McCain. Also I think Obama as president will implement the right change that is needed in the US, his beliefs and ideas for the future sit well with me. As for the naysayers using the argument that Obama is lacking in experience, I agree he may be young but that doesn't make him completely unwise, and one could argue that McCain is past it, won't connect with a large number of young Americans and will be a little out of touch to be able to deliver the change needed. I'm so glad that he chose Sarah Palin for VP. The best move possible , she alone will cause some more voters to Obama's side. Although, I doubt it'll have any affect on the sourthern rednecks, they'll vote one way, and one way alone... Republican. I agree mostly with your map above Eli, it's predictable that Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, or the south, will vote red. When I was in the USA over the summer, you could actually see the difference between the states and their views. In Kentucky/Mississippi, my cousin walked around (on purpose ) with a 'vote for Obama' cap and he got so many stares. He knew he'd get a reaction but not so huge. Yet when we were in NY, there was so much Obama propaganda (and a bit on McCain too), and the people were more open to all views/opinions. But I do think that Obama will have done enough to swing it his way. *fingers crossed* As for the assasination attempt, all presidents past and present have that in store, granted Obama's at a higher risk but I would say the security would therefore be stepped up accordingly. Actually when I went to the White House and the surrounding Capitol Hill area in down town D.C. the security wasn't at it's greatest, but in NY where presidential debates were taking place, the security everywhere was topnotch. Threats on the lines of wiping out the KKK seem a little far fetched, I don't see that happening.
