There is a difference between disagreeing and some of the sorts of arguments that were going on. Discussing and disagreeing should be encouraged, its all good healthy fun, it just got a bit out of hand there sometimes. We should give this a try and see how it goes.

Just to add to what Eli has said, for me the beauty of forum discussion that you can also pick and choose what you wish to directly reply to - and more importantly there's the ability to reply to a thread with your own thoughts and feelings without the necesity to address anyone else should you not wish to. Although the merging of pro and anti may not necesarily be ideal, you have the power over what you say and if continuous debating of opinions is not something that you wish to participate in, you're most certainly not going to be penalised for this - any opinion is welcome and generally doesn't have to be justified if that kind of thing doesn't interest you.

I do like the new system

not to sure about having all the anti and pro threads in all the one, but I am willing to give it a go and see how it turns out, will be very interesting indeed.

BTW, you guys have done a fab job so far, keep it up!

I LOVE the new system!! Having the Mods checking the posts is a great idea and I love being able to post both my positive and negative thoughts on a character in the same place. It gives me more to think about when replying to a discussion and I personally feel a lot happier posting my thoughts and opinions now than I did before.

I posted on the Aden/Belle thread yesterday and it has not been approved for some reason. Mods care to explain?

Personally, I don't like this new system as it completely eliminates appreciation and turned everything into discussion. We already have a whole section dedicated to Australian and overseas discussion I don't see why the appreciation thread needs to go. If it is to eliminate Spam you can easily do it by using the approve posts method like right now. I feel like this decision has been made by a bunch of adults on this forum who long to engage into in depth dicussions and based on some members who want the same. There are already plenty of discussion places. You say it is to make the forum a better place by welcoming everyone in every thread. The appreciation threads before apparently didn't make everyone feel welcome, well it is the same now for some people in discussion threads. Now everytime you post it feels like you have to contribute a heap for it to be valid. If the Spam problem can be dealt with with the approve posts method, I don't see why both appreciation and discussion threads can't exist. Sometimes people just want to have a short rant or rave and can decide which thread to go into. Now it feels like there is less choice and more restriction.

As I understand it, we're not approving posts that say "I love them" or "I hate them" or "they are so cute" or "I can't wait for tonight" with nothing else. We are also not approving spoiler discussion. You can reference things with tags, but full-on spoiler discussion should happen in the Spoiler forum. If too many people post similar things, we may not approve them all. If you think that your post hasn't gotten through but it is similar to someone else's who has, we're not playing favourites, they just happened to get in first. I know that it's impossible to know what's been posted until the posts are made visible, so that's not your fault. Please don't take it personally.

As for ranting and raving, I think you can do that in the same thread. I had a rant myself in the Tachel thread earlier, but I admit that I was nervous about going in there because a lot of appreciation has been posted in there already and I'm not interested in causing fights. I think we just have to trust that the pro and anti people can be mature and get along, because posts that aim to attack someone else for their opinion won't get through anyway.

I don't think it. I know my post isn't there, just wondering why. I wrote a paragraph, a summary on what happened last night with Aden and Belle. Maybe that's just not worth being in discussion...

What I mean by ranting and raving is that sometimes you just want to say 'how cuuuuuuuuuuute was that tonight' without posting a thoughtful debate like you would in discussion. It seems that now that is all gone and there is no place to just have a rave or appreciate characters. I just think it is possible to have appreciation threads without it becoming OTT with that kind of posts, rather than eliminate them all together.
