Oh dear.It does look as though we're going to have to agree to disagree but, apologies, I'm still going to have my two pen'orth.Regarding the sociopath thing, I'm surprised to find that most if not all of those do actually apply to Aden to a certain degree. What I think it means is someone with different values:not only does he often see nothing wrong with the way he's acting, he expects no-one else to see anything wrong as well.It was interesting that even when Belle came to see him at the clinic, he still seemed to be expecting her to "see sense"(my phrase, not his)and agree with what he had done.

Now, I don't know what constitutes a breakdown and I'm not sure if anyone else reading this does. But to say that he didn't know what he was doing or wasn't in control of his actions does seem to be going a bit far. It's not as though Aden was lashing out blindly, he was pursuing an agenda that was consistent with his earlier beliefs and attitudes. He also seemed to be capable of quite complex thoughts and of adapting to changes in his situation.

When Rachel turned up, as she said at the time, he crossed a line, not just by targetting an innocent bystander who got in the way but by moving from passively refusing to help his father to actively preventing him from getting help.He had enough understanding of the situation to contact Belle(how we don't know)and tell her he was going to be out of town so no-one would come looking for him.(And was able to do so in a way that didn't cause her to suspect anything was wrong, although she did have other things on her mind at the time.)He was also able to see that people would be looking for Rachel and so had the foreknowledge to hide her car.

The moment where he tries to inject his father is possibly the only moment when he seemed to be acting out of manic desperation, since it did seem to be a spur of the moment decision. It's telling that that was the only time Belle's words seemed to have any effect on him, suggesting it was the only time he wasn't certain of his actions.Would she have been able to talk him round completely if the police hadn't turned up?Maybe and that in itself suggests he was still capable of making considered decisions. But even when he was at the clinic and his behaviour had become more that which people would consider normal for him, he still believed what he did was right for an awfully long time.

Sorry to bang on.

Eh, I'm not entirely an Aden fan anymore, he seems to be getting "Ric-ish" if you know what I mean.

Yeah, he started off differently by complicating things for Ric and Cassie back in 2005, but in 2007 it was evident that he'd be another "Eric Dalby".

One difference though, is that he had many more friends than Ric did (Ric only had Wazza), and he was worse than Ric.

A similarity is that they both targetted a person after they'd had conflict's with someone else.

I.E: Max had conflict's with Henry, and Lucas had conflict's with Geoff. Then, Dalby comes and bullies Henry, while Geoff get's bullied by Aden.

It's like they're just copying the same storyline, and making it over again. I do like how he isn't predictable like Ric was though.

I'm a huge fan of Aden, and Todd himself as an actor. Even when Aden was just as a guest in 2005, and came back for a few episodes in 2007. where he was just a ruge, bully..your typical bad boy i suppose. Then when he was made a regular cast member in the show, i was very happy to hear that. Plus with the whole abuse storyline, it was very good and i miss Todd when he is not on screen. The Aden storyline has been the highlight of the year for me, he was very good at the emotional scenes, all through the storyline, I liked his scenes with Paul Gleeson who played Adens dad, they were very good, from the scene when it was revealed that he was abused and he smashed the photo up of his grandfather, i still watch videos of them on youtube now, and just think "wow" :o and still get goosebumps from watching those, in my opinion, he's one of the best actors on the show.

I cant find fault with Todd's acting, everytime he comes on screen he overshadows anyone he's acting with - all except Jess lol i think she is unreal too, and when those two have really intense scenes together, i am honestly speechless. The scenes Aden had with his father were some of my favourites this past year, both of them had a real connection, it was like he actually did despise him  He is definately one of their biggest assets and hopefully they'll exploit his obvious talent next year and he'll have another storyline to get his teeth into :D

/\ I agree, with all that, what you said about Todd! I cant fault his acting either, all through that storyline that has to be the highlight of 2008 for me. All the scenes with Paul and Todd were just superb. Thats one of the best things that the Home and Away producer has done, is making Todd a regular on the show. :D With this storyline that they gave to Todd, its just shown how talented he is at acting, because boy, can he act! :D I hope he gets a logie in 2009, he'd deserve it for the hard work that he's done this year!

Well done Todd!

Todd plays Aden really well but he does tend to overshadow people, having said that the one thing I love about the abuse storyline is that he was consistent through the revelation with his dad, I cant even begin to imagine what it is like to be abused but I cant imagine it is a nice thing to go through so IMO that leaves room for inconsistencies in his behaviour, how can we judge unless we went through it and I am not trying to make anyone feel uncomfortable either.

I couldn't agree more with what Laurzy! said. Todd is an amazing actor, his character Aden has been through so much this year with the abuse and the relationship with Belle storyline, and has acted it brilliantly.

Aden's actions during the kidnapping (if thats what you want to call it) may have been wrong, but he done them for reasons that you would never want to happen to anyone, let alone a child to go through. He was in a terrible state due to the fact that his father was abused by his grandad and didn't do anything to stop him from doing it to his son, which is totally wrong for any family member to go through, I should know, I know someone very close to me who was abused and it is totally out of order, So I think that Aden had the right to do what he did although I dont condone it.

I think that Belle would have been able to talk him round had the police not got to him first, because they both love each other so he would have done the decent thing in the end.

I think that it was when he was in the clinic that changed him (except when he threw his phone after seeing Belle with Angelo) because it was then that he realised that his father was just that 'scared little boy that he was'. He has since become a much better person and realised that what he done was wrong, especially when he went to visit his father in hospital, as he nto tell him that he loved him but couldn't that shows that his opinion has changed.

Aden's relationship with Belle is so sweet and they have great chemistry, we all know that they both belong together and knew that they were going to get back together.

Yes I am adelle fan and I am proud to be!

Sorry for ranting on

This is just my opinion

The storyline with Aden is a recurring one in the show. It demonstrates how abuse and violence can really damage a person and how love care and concern can sometimes over a period of time begin to repair that damage. Kane with Kirst was a great example. Ric and Alf was another. Aden and Belle have the beginnings of this. In fact in my view this is the best of these storylines because it takes place against the backdrop of the toxic waste storyline which makes the road to "redemption" even more tortured. The hints for 2009, even if only half of them come to true, promise great drama.

Todd is a amazing actor.. I never used to like his character Aden but now i love him to bit's. He's talented and im sure he can make a huge success wherever he wants to end up...

The Scenes Where Larry and Aden are arguing about his grandfather were so intense it gave me goosebumps.. I was surprised how he got so mad and telling Belle about everything.. i had tears in my eyes

I don't think he needs to improve anymore because hes doing a great job

Someone give him a Logie next year for best new talent!!!!!!!!

He will be my fav character on home and away for a long time to come
