Charlie Buckton - Esther Anderson

Charlie is really getting on my nerves this year. I'm just waiting for her and Angelo to break up over her constant nagging, or perhaps she'll have an affair with his brother Paulo - anything to liven the character up! And am I the only one who has never been able to stand the sister turned mother storyline? Ugh! I cannot stand her as a mother to Ruby, it just doesn't work on any level! I really, really, really hope Ruby doesn't start calling her "mum". But it probably will happen. :/

I feel sorry for Charlie, although I haven't seen the latest episodes being in the UK, it seems like the writers are really ruining the character. I don't see the point of the whole mother/daughter storyline with Ruby when they have had hardly any screen time together since then - this is a shame because I thought they did this really well. It seems like they have lost focus in Charlie, when she came into the show she was feisty and very much protective of her family. The only scenes she now has are with Angelo, who although I like, I miss the relationship with Ruby and I just hope that the writers realise this soon and sort the character out before people turn against her. I love Charlie, and I think Esther does a great job, just want the return of the old Charlie a bit more.

Charlie seems to be getting less screen time, that could have to do with her DWTS stint being felt, or seemly fairness re other characters/storylines. She's still that one character in the show, probably because of being a Cop, so can cross more storylines, that has a bit to do with most characters in the show, that is sort of rare in the show, they(characters) are usually pocketed in their own little areas of the show as a whole.

Charlie - is still interesting to watch and finding out what's new with her, hope she around for a fair while longer in the show.

I wish she had more screentime with Ruby more. I used to enjoy their time together and I hope the writers will come back and address this new development of mother and daughter and get them to spend more time together.

Love Charlie's complex-ness. I just don't like her with Angelo...

More screen time for Esther would be great!

Charlie has had victim stamped on her forehead from the get go. Physically, mentally and verbally abused by Grant, returned home only to find baby Ruby didn't recognise her, so had to live her former years living with her parents raising her daughter as their own, Nearly died trying to save Annie from the storm drain. Had Grant reappear in her life again, prime suspect for his murder, on/off relationship with Angelo, the list goes on.

She needs some happiness.

I love Esther but not a fan of the progression of her character. 2008 Charlie was awesome and probably in my all time top ten characters in the history of the show. Since they aged her up so that she could become Ruby's mother among other things, the life has really been drained out of her character and to no great end I might add.

I don't get Charlie atm. I don't get why she's treating Angelo the way she is and using him. I really hate that she's using him. I don't get what happened to her to make her treat Angelo the way she is now. That's the most frustrating part. I don't know what happened to make Charlie and Angelo break up. They were my fave couple on H&A last year! Now look at them. Their relationship's just in a burnt up heap on the floor and I don't know why. :crying: I kinda hate Charlie right now but I don't know 100% why.

It's really getting to me. I just want to know already why TPTB screwed up my fave couple who had so much potential. I just want to know the reason why Charlie and Angelo aren't together any more. I want to know why the lengths they went to to stay together didn't work too and I want to know a timeline of events. I wanted to know all these things when the premiere aired but that hasn't happened has it. By the sounds of things quite a few people know what went soooooooooooo badly, devastintingly and shockingly wrong for Changelo so all it would take is for Charlie and Angelo themselves to have a scene togehter talking about it or Liam and Bianca or Charlie and Ruby or Angelo and Ruby or even Leah and Charlie or Leah and Angelo coz I'm guessing that Leah knows what happened. Now that's not too much to ask is it?

If I knew what had happened that just couldn't bew worked out no matter how hard they tried then I wouldn't be so frustrated and annoyed all the time and I'd probably be less angry at Charlie too. I used to love Charlie! When she was together with Angelo last year she was awesome!! I loved the way she supported Angiepants™ as Ive nicknamed him hehe!! all throughout when Paolo was around!

I just loved the way that Changelo were so committed to each other and how they were both equal in the relationship and how they both supported each other whenever necessary and just how they were in love with each other really!! Now they're just nothing and on top of that Charlie's treating Angelo really badly.

Sorry to be so mad and angry and have such a rant my first time in this thread but Charlie's current situation just really sucks for me right now. I don't want to see her in any scenes right now. I don't want to see her job going well for her and I certainly don't want to see her rubbing it in Angelo's face that they're not together anymore. Yes I know he ended the relationship but my guess is it was just because his heart was just hurting too much because he wanted the relationship to be awesome like it used to be but it just wasn't and that was just too painful for him so he just told Charlie "enough is enough". Very sad stuff. :crying:

I have to disagree completely. IMO, Charlie has done nothing wrong since the break-up with Angelo. I don't understand what you mean when you say Charlie is treating Angelo badly and is using him. If anything, Angelo is the one who is treating Charlie badly.

IMO, Charlie is in no way using Angelo at all. After the funeral Angelo took full advantage of Charlie. She wasnt in a clear state of mind, while Angelo was, so if anything, Angelo was the one who was 'using' Charlie there. He should have stopped it from happening, because he knew it would be wrong, but he didnt.

How exactly is she rubbing it in Angelo's face that they are not together anymore? I haven't seen anything from Charlie to show this.

Angelo was the one who brought a box of Charlie's things into her work because he seemed to want rid of every trace of her, he is the one who doesnt appear to want to be around her, IMO. As soon as she turned up at his house to ask for Shandi/Daria's address, that he had offered her the day before, he was like what are you doing here? And it appeared (at least to me) he didnt really want to be around her. When Charlie asked him if they could still be friends Angelo's reply was less than enthusiastic and he couldn't get away quick enough!

If anything, I feel really sorry for Charlie in all of this. She's the one who, IMO, has appeared more upset over this break-up whereas Angelo appears like he couldn't care less.

I do wish we would get a better explanation as to why they broke up though and not just the 'there were so many problems' that appears to be the only explanation we are going to get.

First of all I'm delighted Charlie and Angelo are no longer together because they were miserable to watch as a couple. They were never equals in the relationship. The balance of control would swing back and forth between the two, probably due to the fact they are both stubborn and have this need to be in control. Also Angelo had a serious issue with putting into practice everything he preached to Charlie. He wanted her to be honest, to stop keeping secrets and talk to him more. Yet whenever the situation was reversed, he would do the exact opposite. Refusing to talk and tellling lie after lie until he realised Charlie was gettin suss and he had to confess e.g the whole Paolo thing and Shandi.

Charlie can at least justify some of her actions, like her commitment issues and being open and upfront with people because of the fact she was sexually assaulted and impregnant at 14 years of age. Which would be enough to traumatise andy person for life. I know it doesn't justify all her actions, but at least we have a better understanding of why she acts the way she does. Angelo on the other hand has nonw. He didn't have a traumatic experience to justify his. Being arrested for shooting Jack, how he was treated and being kicked off the police force don't count as they all occured because of his own actions.

I don't get how anyone could think Charlie is treating Angelo badly. Yeah she slept with him but she was grieving the death of her father and wasn't thinking clearly. Angelo on the other hand had a clear head and he still went ahead and took advantage of her in her emotional state. And what's worse is, he ended the relationship in the first place. Which makes what he did even worse. Charlie even apologised to Angelo the day after for sleeping with him and he brushed her aside. He's the one being difficult. And I find it slightly heartless that he would show up at her work place to hand her back the rest if her stuff.

For a man that was so hopelessly in love with her last year, he has done a complete 180 this year. Charlie went through therapy and battled her anxiety issues to commit to him, to be able to share a life and a house with him, and he more or less shoved it back in her face because they couldn't make it work? Maybe Angelo didn't love her as much as he thought he did if he was willing to give up that easy?

So Yeah, Charlie is the one I feel sorry for in all of this. She has done nothing wrong. To be honest though, I don't think Charlie was really ready to make such a big commitment to Angelo when her relationship with Ruby is still kind of all over the place. I think Charlie trying to juggle her career, a relationship and sort out her mother/daughter issues with Ruby was probably too big a load to juggle all at once. Whereas Angelo only had Charlie and the restaurant to think about, making it easier for him. I think maybe of Charlie worked on building a better relationship with Ruby, focused on her career for a bit and then tried again with Angelo or started fresh with someone new, maybe she might be better off for it.

For Angelo things just seem to fall into his lap, his promotion when he was a police officer, get out of jail free cards, the restaurant, the money for the restaurant. Whereas Charlie, as Alf would say, seems to get the rough end of the pineapple all the time. She never seems to have it easy. I just want to see Charlie relax and be a mother for a while. Although I'm guessing from the previews that it won't happen anytime soon.
