I wish Miles hadn't taken so long to realise he had a duty of care to Melody. Ok he went to Melbourne to look for her (I don't see that he had a choice as her guardian) but he let her float around for months, clearly self-destructing, and did nothing because he was too wrapped up with Kirsty. Had he paid more attention I don't think she would have become so out of control. I mean, she went from a strictly controlled environment to Miles letting her come and go as she pleased and manage everything on her own, that was never going to work. In a way, despite the emotional abuse, she was physically safer with her parents! In Miles' care she; smoked dope, ran in front of cars, hung out with strange boys and ended up on the streets! And the Foster Carer of Year Award goes to......not Miles. She needed a Sally :D

End mini rant :D

Well, when she was living with her parents, she was sexually assaulted and ended up in a mental health clinic, after which her primary carer effectively held her prisoner in her house, failed to notice she'd developed an eating disorder, tried to exorcise her whilst physically holding her down and then tried to kidnap her.Compared to that Miles is a model parent...Although there is room for improvement, I admit.

Melody doesn't want help. Miles took her in gave her love and the chance to belong to a proper home and she blew it. She starting drinking, went out with boys, lied, cheat on a essay and did drugs and locked the doors on the hall where the formal was. Then she ran away to Melbourne. Nicole was right when she said: Since you got out of the clinic all you have done is hurt people.

I have to say I'm rather shocked at the amount of posts saying 'its bad writing' etc.

Not to mention the accusations of Seven axing her because she's not pretty.

That is the problem with spoilers, people jump on them and judge and complain about the episodes before they've even seen them.

Additionally, can we try and cut down on the amount of spoilers in this thread as its starting to make the thread redundant. Please try as much as you can to discuss spoilers in the Spoiler section.

I think we can say it's bad writing when it's completely unrealistic.Even if the womans had a complete personality transplant

Melody wouldn't forgive her so quickly in real life.As i said earlier,we've seen the damage it caused her.

Anyway, sorry for all the spoilers.I'm just really mad,i'm attached to her for personal reasons.

I still love her. She has got to be the most interesting teen character we've had on in such a long time and she has complexities that go far beyond the rest of the current boring group and is played by a talented actress to boot.I felt like the writers finally turned the corner with her after the Melbourne storyline last week- it was just a shame they took so long to get there. The length of the storyline wouldn't have been such a problem if they had of tried harder to make people more sympathetic to her character. She's been on quite a journey as a character and for the most part I've really enjoyed watching her

so I hope the ending is fitting to her

I'm still really upset that

she's leaving

.I absolutely love her and there are precious few characters I can say that about.I don't like the way it's happening and I don't like the timing.I can just picture

her last scene:being plonked in the back of a taxi with only Miles and at a pinch Jai and Annie there to see her off, the rest of the Bay glad she's going.I wanted to see her rebuilding her relationships with people and earning back their trust and now it's not going to happen.I don't want her to leave at all and I definitely don't want her to leave like that.

Sorry about the spoilers, I'll try and stop now.

I have to say I wasn't sure about Melody when she first appeared on our screens. She appeared quite clingy but i felt really sorry for her when Geoff turned her down. Once we got an insight into her family I felt terrible fo her. It was clea she was controlled. When she was humiliated in front of the parents at the meeting, you could see how hard it must be to live with her mum.

The near rape story I feel was badly done. I understand the timeslot that Home and Away is in, but it only looked like he tried to kiss her. I thought it was made worse by the fact that Axel died, because I for one just thought that he didn't deserve to die.

I got a shock when Aden saw Melody in the clinic. I felt this part of the story was amazingly well done and written. I think its great that they kept up the bond between aden and melody. I am not sure how Melody managed to get out of the clinic. It seemed a bit easy. I surely hope in real life that they would not let someone out like that.

I thought the exorcism was amazingly acted, I was on the edge of my seat. I cannot believe what it felt like for Melody to go though that. I do not think the mothers kidnapping was necessary.. I wasn't sure that Miles was the best person to look after her. I think the freedom was a bit too much. She needed some boundaries. I also thought Miles should have made a better attempt with a relationship.

I have to say I hated the fact that Melody went off the rails. I did not find it convincing that she would go as far as drugs. I also felt really bad for her character when she caused the whole accident. That definitely turned some of the viewers against her.

I was glad that at least Rachel understood what was going on. But surely Melody would still have a counciller who should have worked it out! I loved the story in Melbourne! Especially because Archie was there. I am glad that Melody and Miles finally understood each other. I also think that Melody could have a bond with Charlie.

All in all I think Melody is a great character. She is one of the best acted characters on the show. I feel that the writers did her character disjustice by making her the cause of the season finale. She had alot of depth and gave us one of the best storylines on the show. She was well written. She was one of the best teen characters in a while.

I agree, after the departures of characters like Ric, Mattie and especially Cassie, Melody was needed to keep our interest in the new teen group. The others are dreadfully boring compared to her.
