Chapter 11.

"...you rinse the dishes then put them in the dishwasher otherwise it clogs up and you'll be the one cleaning it," Tess told Tyler firmly with a cheeky grin.

"I never would have guessed," he answered her sarcastically with a playful smile and a glint in his eye that she had only just seen appear today.

"Hey, guys," Aden said, walking in to the kitchen and putting on his apron.

Tyler looked surprised, "What are you doing here?"

"Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention I was the supervisor today." Aden said happily. "Is that okay?"

"Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude, I just wasn't expecting..." Tyler tried to excuse.

"Its fine, Tyler," Aden said kindly. "Has Tess been showing you what to do?"

"Yeah, I think I'm all caught up," he answered, giving Tess a grateful sideways glance.

"Good, can you go out the front and start taking orders? I think we just got a rush." Aden asked him.

Tyler nodded and left the kitchen.

"Be nice, Dad," Tess stated without looking at him, instead watching her boyfriend disappear.

"I will," he answered distantly, looking out to where Tyler had just left them too.

*

"So how's it going?" Aden asked Tyler as he re-entered the kitchen for the zillionth time that evening carrying the dirty plates.

"Good, yeah, I'm actually kind of enjoying it," Tyler told him.

"...and how's everything else?" Aden tested.

Tyler sighed and put down the plates, "Look Aden, don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for everything you've done for me, really I am. Giving me a place to stay when I needed it and the job, it's great. But I just can't handle you trying to push in to my personal life because you want to help or whatever. I've been fine for the last seventeen years, I'm sure I'll continue to be fine without you."

"Fair enough," Aden said. "That's what I thought when I was your age."

"What?" Tyler laughed. "You're nothing like me."

"I wasn't aware you knew me so well," Aden replied humourously. "I didn't think I needed help but when I finally realised that I

did, things got better."

"You don't have a clue what I've been through so don't even pretend that you can relate to me," Tyler growled, his stance now becoming dominant and angry.

"So something did happen to you then?" Aden asked, ignoring the body language to back off.

Tyler withdrew slightly, "No," he stated simply. "Can you just drop it, please?" he demanded.

"Tyler," Aden started but Tess entered the room and the conversation came to an abrupt halt.

"What's going on?" she asked, seeing the tension between her boyfriend and her father.

"Nothing," Aden smiled. "Tyler just wasn't sure whether to accept the offer of a job here."

Tyler looked at him suddenly.

"You should do it, Tyler," Tess said excitedly. "It might even make me want to work here more often."

"Miracles do happen," Aden laughed as Tyler gave Tess an awkward smile.

"So what do you say?" he turned to Tyler.

"Yeah alright then," he answered, not wanting to go in to a long winded explanation of why he wouldn't take the job and with the thought in the back of his mind that he really needed the money. "Thanks."

"That's sorted then. Can you take these out to table three please?" Aden asked him and he complied obediently.

"Is it okay if I take my break now, Dad?" Tess asked. "Lisa's here."

"Sure," Aden smiled. "Just make sure it's only fifteen minutes."

Tess nodded and removed her apron before going out in to the main waiting area to sit with her friend.

"So…? Lisa asked excitedly.

"So what?" Tess asked confusedly.

"Tyler, duh!" Lisa exclaimed. "I want all the goss!"

"What goss?" Tess said incredulously, laughing at Lisa's reactions. She was the only friend that knew about her and Tyler and though they had only known each other a couple of weeks, they had formed a strong bond very quickly.

"Well, for starters... does he look better with his shirt on or off cos he is definitely HOT with it on!" Lisa said, watching Tyler weave his way in and out of the customers.

"You think everyone's hot," Tess said calmly, sipping the drink she had brought with her to the table through a straw.

"No,” she defended simply. “I think everyone who is hot… is hot, I think people who are seriously hot are FTF!" Lisa exclaimed loudly, earning several judgemental glares from the other customers.

"FTF?" Tess asked, shaking her head in question of the abbreviation.

Lisa looked at her disbelievingly. "Come on Tess its’ old!" Tess continued to stare at her blankly. "Fit to F*** and believe me, Tyler definitely falls in to that category!"

"Lisa!" Tess said with a laugh.

"I only speak the truth," Lisa shrugged and Tess laughed. "So have you two... done the deed?" she asked curiously.

"What?" Tess almost shouted and spat some of her drink out. "We only started going out on Saturday!" she continued quietly.

"So...?"

"I take it your not a virgin then?" Tess asked carefully.

"I haven't been a virgin since I was fifteen," she answered carelessly.

"…fifteen?"

"Can't say I enjoyed my first time, but I can't get it back now can I," she trailed off, showing a sad smile for a second before a cheeky grin was plastered back on her face. "I guess you are then."

Tess shrugged and stirred the drink with her straw.

"Let me guess, you're waiting for the... 'Perfect man'," she imitated a high pitched girl.

"Hey!" Tess exclaimed, hitting her across the table. "So what if I am?"

"That's sweet..." Lisa said, suddenly making Tess feel very young. "So do you think Tyler might be that someone?"

"I don't know," Tess shrugged but she couldn't hide the blush which made Lisa smile.

"Is he a good kisser?" she continued curiously.

Tess blushed again, "Let's just say on a scale of 1 to infinite, he doesn't even register," Tess answered her coyly.

"Lucky you!" Lisa laughed and smiled. "What's the secret?"

Tess sighed happily, "...I don’t know, but when we kiss... it's not about the kiss… It's about everything else. I feel like we connect, like we're complete somehow, like I can feel everything he's feeling and I think it's the same for him too."

"Wow," Lisa breathed. "But like you said, you've only been going out since Saturday?"

"I know," she sighed, "...but when we first kissed a couple of weeks ago, it was so unexpected and yet it felt so right straight away, I just couldn't forget that feeling. It was so intense, he needed something and I gave it to him. The emotions he let me feel in that kiss, I had no idea kissing someone could be like that until I did it with him."

"Sounds serious," Lisa said.

"I know it sounds cliché but I've never felt like this about anyone before," Tess told her excitedly.

"So you think he might be the one who… completes you, as it were?" Lisa asked, raising her eyebrow.

Tess bit her bottom lip, "Well, Mum and Dad told us they were going away for the weekend next week so I'll have the place to myself most of the time," she explained. "...but do you think it's too soon?" she asked worriedly.

"I'm the wrong person to ask. But if it feels right, then it's right. Maybe you should just wait and see," Lisa told her wisely and Tess nodded her head.

A silence rested between them for a moment and Tess noticed Lisa fidgeting and her eyelids drooping slightly.

“Are you okay?” she asked concernedly.

Lisa smiled, “Yeah, just a little tired,” she answered but raised a hand to her forehead anyway.

“Head ache?” Tess questioned and Lisa nodded slightly.

“Do you have any chocolate bars or anything like mars bars here?” Lisa asked and Tess started to see she looked kind of nervous.

“We have mud cake but they’re might not be any left cos it’s quite late, I’ll just ask,” Tess told her. “I have to get back to work any way, I’ll bring some over if there’s any left.”

“Thanks,” Lisa told her distractedly without looking. She breathed heavily. “I’m just going to go to the toilet.”

Tess disappeared in to the kitchen to ask Aden if there was any cake left when she heard a voice call, “Someone call an ambulance.”

She rushed back out of the kitchen, followed by Aden, to see Lisa lying on the floor, unconscious, Tyler bent over her, checking her pulse.

I was going to have more in this chapter, but I decided to leave it on a cliffhanger. But the next chapter just needs editing and then i'll put it up tomorrow.

I hope you enjoyed that, please leave me a comment!

Sorry haven't replied for a while, have been reading though.

The talk between Belle & Aden re Mark was good, makes sense now how he was not going to the footie matches. Hope Aden will be able to get over it & be ok at Mark's game when he goes.

Tess & Tyler are still so  but if Tess is goin to try & push things further he is not going to like it.

Poor Lisa :o hope she is going to be ok!!!

Tyler and Tess are so cute and refreshing to read about. I love the way they seem like a mini Aden & Belle.

Lisa?!? Whoa! I hope she is ok!

Loved Aden trying to connect with Tyler and using his experience to try and help. :)

I look forward to the next update whenever it may be :D

Ooooh, I liked that!

Tess and Tyler are just so AOL and  I loved the way you described the kiss and everything. That was jut so wow! I want a kiss like that!

I dunno why, but I don't want them to sleep together so soon! But I'm sure whatever you have planned for them will be awesome! :D

Lol at FTF. We use AFAF, which is remotely close, but I've got to agree with Lisa that Aden and Tyler [well, the Tyler I've created] are both FTF/AFAF!

Lisa! I think I know what's wrong but still! :o

Cannot wait for more!

Reading the scenes with Tess, Tyler, and Aden in the diner reminded me so much of Belle, Aden, and Roman when they were younger. I'm really enjoying all of the Aden and Tyler scenes. I really hope that at some point in this fic Tyler finds out about Adens past. I think it would be interesting to see Tylers(as well as Tess and Marks) reaction to it. And Tess and Tyler are so cute together.

Can't wait to find out whats wrong with Lisa.

Thanks for all the comments! Taniya and Jody, you will definitely like what I have planned! I can't wait to post it cos the big chapter is already written but it's about four chapters away!

Sorry this is so short and a bit rubbish. These were really just filler chapters to give Lisa a subplot and explain her behaviour a bit more.

I'll edit it so it looks better later, cos I've got to go to work now. I might try and update tomorrow but i'm working 11-8 so im not sure when.

Anyway, hope you enjoy this. But it is VERY short!

Chapter 12.

“Here you go,” Aden said, handing a glass of water and a slice of mud cake to Lisa. They were sat opposite one another across the table, alone as Tess and Tyler had gotten back to work.

“Thanks,” she said. “I’m sorry about this. You really didn’t need to call the ambulance.”

“Well we didn’t know why you fainted so we thought it was probably best,” Aden explained kindly and she nodded slowly. “…and we called your Mum so she’s on the way,” he smiled.

“What?” Lisa exclaimed suddenly. “Why?”

“We thought she’d want to know,” he answered looking at her suspiciously.

Lisa tilted her head back and then reached in to her pocket, expecting to find her phone. Instead, Aden handed it to her.

“We used it to find your Mum’s number,” he explained.

She gave him a weak smile before looking at the time displayed on the screen, “She’s gonna be so mad!” she exclaimed when she saw the time and realised where her mum would be.

“I’m sure she won’t,” Aden tried to reassure her.

“You don’t know my Mum,” she answered him quickly.

“Lisa!” a sharp female voice could be heard behind Aden. “Why do you insist on doing this to me? Do you have any idea how important tonight was for me? The clients I was meeting.”

“Sorry, Mum,” Lisa said quietly.

“Well it’s too late now,” her mother replied sharply. “Anyway, here’s your insulin,” she continued, handing her a small box.

“Thanks,” Lisa said, looking at the floor embarrassedly.

“Right, I have to get back, you gonna be okay?” the brisk, suited woman, asked, seemingly uncaring.

Lisa nodded and Aden watched the exchange with mild concern.

“Right,” the woman nodded again but a smile appeared on her face as she turned to see Aden, apparently not having noticed him before. “On seconds thought, maybe I should stay.”

Lisa chewed on the inside of her cheek, her control mechanism for dealing with her mother, for her, it was like counting to ten or taking ten deep breaths. “I’m just going to go to the toilet and sort this out,” she told them, holding up the small box in demonstration.

“Okay honey,” her mother answered absently. “So have you been looking after my daughter?” she asked Aden, with a flirtatious edge to her voice.

He nodded, “I’m Aden.”

“Penelope,” she replied, holding out her hand to shake, which Aden did.

“I own half of this place and Lisa is a friend of my daughter,” he continued.

“…single parent?” Penelope asked hopefully.

Aden shook his head.

“Married?”

He nodded.

“…happily?”

“Very.”

“They all say that,” she laughed as she moved her hand to play with the collar of Aden’s T-shirt.

He took her wrist before she could touch him, “Some of us mean it,” he told her sternly.

“I see,” Penelope said, taking her hand back. “Anyway, like I said, I have to go.”

“See you,” Aden replied stonily. “…and don’t worry about Lisa, I’ll make sure she gets home alright,” he added.

“Thanks,” she told him before exiting the diner. She noticed a boy stood near the exit, looking at her oddly as she left.

Tess came over hurriedly when she saw her father was now alone, “Is Lisa alright?”

“She’s fine, I’ll let her explain it to you,” Aden told her with a smile. “Anyway, we better all get back to work after all that excitement.”

“Sure,” Tess said.

They continued as normal for another half an hour. Aden had said he would take Lisa home after they closed up.

The diner was pretty empty now, just a few people waiting for desserts. Tyler headed to a table furthest from the kitchen with a couple of plates when he received a shock as his mother entered the diner. He quickly gave the customers the food with the briefest of smiles before grabbing his mother by the arm and ushering her to a quiet section of the diner. “What are you doing here Mum?” he asked worriedly glancing around.

“I came to see where you were working,” she exclaimed happily. “You didn’t tell me much about it.”

Tyler sighed, “Mum, you should go home.”

“Tyler, don’t be stupid. I’ll have a coke thanks,” she stated.

“Mum…”

“Please.”

Tyler turned around to see Aden and Tess had just left the kitchen.

“That’s the girl that left our house on Sunday morning!” his mother exclaimed from behind him and both he and Tess froze their movements as a very angry looking Aden put down the plates he was carrying.

“Tess!” she flinched at the sound of her father’s voice. “Kitchen, now!”

She went in before him and Tyler went to follow.

“Not you Tyler,” Aden said sternly before following his daughter.
