Sorry for the wait, I'm still not too sure about it but here you go...

I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 28.

"Tess," Mark whispered, and she could hear how scared he sounded, "What happened to Mum?"

She turned to look at him and it was as though she'd stepped back in time, seeing him drawn back and staring at the bathroom door with a lost expression as though a little boy. "I don't know," she answered quietly with the slightest of an unsure shrug. She transferred her eyes to Tyler who had bent down and was examining something on the floor.

He was expressionless, almost as though he couldn't handle the thought of what they had all just seen, "It's a button," he said softly; standing up as he held it between his index finger and thumb.

They had all seen how Belle's clothes were ripped but none of them were willing to voice what it meant.

Tess turned back to the bathroom door, "Mum?" she whispered and she could feel tears stinging the back of her eyes. There was no answer. "We have to call Dad," she said looking back at the other two; Mark, who was now sat on the small chest of drawers they kept on the landing and looked like he hadn't heard her, and Tyler, who looked her dead in the eyes communicating silently what they both thought had happened.

*

Ten minutes later and Aden came rushing through the front door and running up the stairs, "What happened?" he asked Tess hurriedly.

"I don't know," she answered him. They hadn't moved from the landing and none of them had spoken since Tess had phoned her father, only telling him that something had happened to Belle before he had hung up the phone and raced home, breaking the speed limit practically the whole way. "She's locked herself in the bathroom but…"

Aden reached out to her as she started to break down, "Hey," he said soothingly as he stroked her hair, "It's alright," he stood back to look at them all. "Can you all go downstairs please?" he asked them, trying to not let how worried he was come through in the question.

They did as he asked, moving solemnly; he watched them walk down the stairs before turning his attention to the bathroom door.

"Belle," he said softly through the door. "It's me, can you open the door, sweetie?"

He got no reaction from the other side and his worry increased, "Come on, remember our agreement… always tell each other if there's a problem… no matter what…" he hoped the gentleness of his voice would coax her out.

He heard the door unlock but it didn't open. He let out a small sigh of relief knowing that she wanted him there before walking in wearily; not shutting the door behind him as his eyes fell on her. He saw her sitting on the floor; her shirt ripped, her hair messy and tears staining her cheeks. He immediately fell to the floor beside her, "Oh my god, Belle," he breathed and she turned to look at him blankly and saw the devastated expression he wore. "What happened?"

Her face finally changed emotions as he saw her try to fight it and lose as she reached out around his neck and sobbed heavily into him. He held her tight, "I'm here now, okay. You're alright. I'm here now," he soothed.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry" she said quickly through the tears as she pulled back to look at him. "I'm so sorry."

"Hey," he shushed, "I just need you to tell me what happened."

She stared at him, keeping back the tears but he could see the guilt evident on her face, "A…Ang…"

"…Angelo?" Aden finished for her in shock. "Did he… did he hurt you?" he asked, concern only just prominent above the anger she knew he'd show any second.

She shook her head and he breathed the very slightest sigh of relief, "Did he try to?" he asked and thought he already knew the answer, he just needed her confirmation.

She didn't answer straight away, "Aden," she paused as he looked at her so lovingly she knew she just had to keep telling him, "I'm so sorry."

"Belle, whatever happened, you don't have to be sorry. Did he try to… to rape you again?" he asked, needing a straight answer as this time all he showed was concern that he still didn't know what had happened.

"No," she whispered and averted her eyes away from him for the first time since he had entered the bathroom.

He looked at her in question.

"I didn't say no, Aden," his eyes widened a little at her quiet words. "I didn't say no," she repeated, "Please, I'm so sorry."

He narrowed his eyes in confusion but shook his head, "I don't understand," he said but she could see no accusation in his eyes.

"He said that if I said no then he would…" she stopped suddenly and closed her eyes slowly as though trying to block it out.

"He would what, Belle?" Aden asked gently as he cupped her cheek, skimming his thumb over her jaw. She took that hand suddenly, keeping it in place before she looked at him in sadness.

"He said he would hurt Tess like he hurt me," she explained quietly as the sound of the tap dripping signalled the rest of the world's continuance despite all that had happened in the room.

Aden raised his other hand to his mouth slowly in shock.

"I didn't know what else to do, Aden, so... so I let him…" she trailed off as she let go of his hand and bowed her head.

"Shh," he told her kindly and used his index finger to tilt her chin up so she was looking straight at him, the light from the bulb glinting over the water in her eyes. "Whatever happened, it was not your fault, okay?"

She looked at him and for a moment they were back in that room when she was 19 and Aden knew all she wanted was his comfort. "Come here," he gestured; sitting down beside her and sliding his arms under her so he could cradle her on his lap like he had done then. She clung around his neck, burying her head in to him.

"How… how far did he go?" he asked her nervously after they had sat in silence for a minute; Belle gaining her strength from his support.

"He didn't… I mean… the kids came home before…" she broke off suddenly and looked out of the bathroom, "Oh my God, the kids!" she whispered to him, obvious guilt lining her face that she'd allowed her kids to see her so weak.

"Don't worry about that right now," Aden soothed her.

"…but they saw me... like... this… what are we gonna say to them, Aden?"

"We'll talk about it later," he answered softly. "You're tired Belle, let me talk to the kids tonight and we'll talk to them together tomorrow, okay?"

She brought her head out of him slowly, "It's time, isn't it? We have to tell them everything," she said gently.

He nodded very slightly before standing up; keeping the same hold on her that he had when they had been on the floor and carrying her to their bedroom as he laid her under the covers.

She felt her eyes beginning to droop as he leant in and kissed her very gently on the lips, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear as he did so.

"I love you," he whispered before leaving the room, shutting the door behind him.

He breathed deeply, holding back his emotions had been hard but his determination to be strong for Belle meant he was a rock in her presence, only letting what she had said truly hit him when he was alone. He walked slowly and calmly back to the bathroom, locking the door behind him. Approaching the mirror above the sink, he stared at his reflection, wondering how they had managed to cope with these feelings and events when they were both so young. So barely above their daughters age and they had been through so much. His hands rested on the basin; clutching it tightly in anger and hate, as he clenched his teeth. He ran a hand through his hair before slowly turning on the cold tap; cupping the water in his hands and splashing it over his face, hoping it would wash away the emotions he knew were about to break through. As his energy drained and the lump swelled in his throat he could hold it back no longer and fell on to his knees. He spotted specks of blood on the floor and a foot or so away lay a razor. He wondered who had been the victim of it but knew Belle would have told him if she had been hurt. He let out the slightest of chuckles at his wife's resilience before completely crashing out as his tears cascaded and he tried to keep his sobs silent for fear of Belle hearing him as well as the three teenagers downstairs.

He didn't know what he was going to tell them but he knew it couldn't be the whole story until Belle was there with him. She wasn't up for that tonight. He once again ran the cold tap to splash the water over his face. He dried it with the towel to mask the tears before stepping slowly out of the room and beginning the descent to the unknowing.

Wow. Just... wow! Once again, I dunno how you do it, but you always make me feel exactly what they feel. I have a lump in my throat and am so close to crying [i'm not a crying person, so that's really bad for me].

Poor, poor, poor Belle and Aden. I'm so glad that she told him everything, and I can see how she could think it was her fault and how it wasn't rape because she said yes, even though Angelo did blackmail her.

The next chapter's going to worse, isn't it? When they finally tell the kids. Will they tell Tyler as well? I guess so seeing as he's family too now. I wonder how he'll react considering what happened to him and all...

Cannot wait for more at all. This fic is right at the top of my list of wanting updates the most! It's that brilliant!

That was WOW!

You wrote all of it so well.

I'm glad that Belle told Aden everything. It's going to be hard for them to tell the kids everything but they really do have to do it now.
