Adelle2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 1 question but... if they want kids, they need to have sex and seeing that belle has HIV and to get pregnant she would obviously need to have unprotected sex with aden, doesnt that mean he might contract the disease? Yes I understand this is the case, but I guess I'll just have to pretend that HIV can be protected while having sex and getting pregnant lol. Sorry I know its unrealistic!

There's also the possibility that any child might have it too. I hope you're not just going to gloss over all this as I think it would be great to see these issues explored rather than ignored unrealistically.

If it helps, and bear in mind that I'm by no means an expert on this, I think Belle could conceive safely with IVF.It's still Russian Roulette for the child, of course(or at least I think), just not for Aden.

They both decided it would be best if they spoke to a medical professional. “Hello, my name is Dr. Reynolds” Belle shook her hand nervously, for so long she dreamed about becoming a mother. The day she found out that she was in fact HIV positive crushed this dream. Aden had remained by her side through these years, supporting her threw the tough times. She was so appreciative to have such a caring and compassionate boyfriend. “Hi...my name is Belle and this is Aden” Belle pulled a fake smile attempting to ease her anxiety. “Hello” Aden said politely. “Okay so I understand you would like to have a baby but one of you is HIV positive” Aden and Belle sat down as the doctor went behind her desk to take a seat. ‘Yes, that’s me. I was wondering if you could explain the process of becoming pregnant without endangering my baby or Aden” Her hands were in her lap she could feel her hands becoming sweaty. “Okay, with a HIV positive woman with an HIV negative partner you can become pregnant without endangering your partner by using artificial insemination (the process by which sperm is placed into a female's genital tract using artificial means rather than by natural sexual intercourse). This simple technique provides total protection for the man, but unfornately does nothing to reduce the risk of HIV transmission to the baby.” The doctor went on to explain. Aden occasionally looked at Belle and could tell she was feeling anxious so he rubbed her back in attempt to calm her nerves. “Obviously there are drugs to prevent any transmission to the baby, no there are no promises when you deliver your baby, only time will tell” Several weeks later Belle and Aden decided to untake the artificial insemination and successfully she fell pregnant. “Hey guys guess what!” Aden stood infront of the TV blocking Desperate Housewives. “What!” Geoff said angrily trying to see pass Aden. “Belle’s pregnant” Nicole was on the couch holding a choc chip muffin and dropped it. “What are you freakin serious!” Nicole screamed with joy. “Yep, I sure am” Belle smiled as Nicole hugged her so tightly she could hardly breathe. “Coagulations” Geoff finally stood up and shook Aden’s hand. “Thanks mate” Aden smiled at him. “So when’s your first appointment to see the baby” Nicole said jumping up and down. “In a few weeks” Belle said looking at Aden with a satisfied and proud look on her face. “That’s awesome” Geoff said as he slowly placed his bottom on the sofa eager to watch Desperate Housewives. “Okay are you ready to see your baby” The lady said as she prepared the gel. “Yes we’re ready” Belle smiled at Aden he was holding her hand firmly. “This might be a little bit cold” she laughed as she rubbed the gel over her stomach. “Okay let’s see….Ahhh I think we have something….Hmmm….” The lady pulled a concerned face. “What is it?” Belle said nervously. “It looks like we have two heartbeats” she smiled at the screen. “What are you kidding” Belle smiled with a tear in her face. Aden took a deep breath out and smiled at Belle. “That’s so amazing” he said as he kissed her hand. “So you’re saying that I’m going to have twins?” Belle asked in an ecstatic voice. “Looks like it” The lady looked over at Belle and Aden and smiled.
