Chapter 17

It was Friday and Belle had agreed to cover Aden's shift as he claimed he needed to do Christmas shopping. But he was actually planning to buy an engagement ring for Belle, Nicole begged him to let her go. In the back of his mind he thought having Nicole by his side would allow him to have a girl's point of view but he was a little anxious about her coming with him. When Nicole went shopping she would take hours and hours looking at everything and anything. She over analysed every little details about a product. He would know once he asked her to come with him to buy a birthday gift for Belle big mistake! They arrived at 9 and came home at 4:30pm to make matters worse he came home empty handed. Nicole however didn't she had spent over $300 just on clothes alone. Just as Aden thought he found the perfect gift and shop assistant would come up to him and ask if he needed assistant Nicole being who processed the biggest gob on her, scared away the assistant and sometimes even forces them to leave the store for being rude and inconsiderate to the assistant.

"This is gonna be so fun" Nicole skipped into the jewelry store.

"Yeah I bet it will be" Aden mumbled under his breath.

"What was that?" Nicole yelled across the room staring closely at the counter, looking down at the glistening expense jewelry.

"May I help you" The shop assistant asked in an automatic tone.

"Ah yes…" Nicole started to open her mouth and speak Aden ran over to cover her mouth stopping her from speaking, he didn't want her to screw up his chances of buying a ring at the most prestigious jewelry store in Sydney.

"I would like to look at your collection of rings, I'm planning on proposing to my girlfriend" he explained as he continued to cover Nicole's mouth. The assistant looked at her strangely but graciously led them to the ring section. "Here are our finest rings" she spoke in a superior voice.

"Thank you" Aden said with a smile. He could tell she wasn't trusting of him and Nicole.

"Wow, look at this one!" Nicole squealed pointing to an exceptionally large diamond ring. "That's soo….hideous" Aden stared at the glass with a horrified look. "You think so do you" the lady sprung in from behind him. "Oh no, it's just my love doesn't like rings with massive jewels on it" Aden was starting to go bright red. "I see" She turned away with an unimpressed look. "Gee thanks Nic" he looked at her with profound anger. "Sorry" she said deeply regretting her words.

"Look that's a pretty one" Nicole pointed at the glass, hoping he wouldn't bite her head off. "Yeah that's alright, I guess" Nicole exhaled with relief. "Hey I like this one" he pointed excitedly. "Yeah that's alright…." Nicole didn't look satisfied. "What, it's perfect" Aden questioned. "But the jewel is tiny….why don't you go for something a little fancier" Nicole crossed her arms. "Nicole….you know when I told the lady that my girlfriend doesn't like big jewels I meant that" this was becoming to stressful for him. "Alright….I'll never suggest another ring that has massive jewels on top on it". "Good idea" Aden continued searching. "So I wonder what Belle's reaction will be" Nicole asked curiously. "What do you mean reaction" he stopped and faced her with a grumpy look. "All I was saying is if she'll yes which….hopefully….what her reaction will be….you know…..thrilled…..emotional……" she spoke slowly with caution not wanting to trigger Aden's temper. "What do you mean by hopefully?" he asked trying to restrain his anger. "I'm only kidding Aden….Jesus lighten up will ya" Nicole smacked him playfully on the back. "Oh my god" Aden froze as he was the familiar figure walking threw the entrance of the store. "Oh s**t" Nicole said as her eyes widened. "What the hell is she doing here" Aden and Nicole swatted down hiding behind a shelve stand. "Maybe Belle is buying an engagement ring too….you know girls propose to guys these days" Nicole took her time at speaking while Aden was freaking out. He didn't want to be seen; otherwise it could jeopardize the surprise. "Nicole shut up….she's coming….quick move!" Aden grabbed her arm tightly dragging her around the other side of the shelve stand. "Ow that hurt" Nicole slapped him back on the arm vigorously. "Excuse ma'am can I help you with anything today" The lady was friendlier towards Belle. "Ahh yes, I was wondering if you could show me where the necklaces for guys are?" Belle asked in a friendly voice. Both Aden and Nicole heard what Belle had said. Nicole whispered to Aden "Why is she buying a guys necklace?" Aden gave her a look as if to ask are you that stupid but replied "I guess she's buying it for me…as a Christmas present" he peeked out to see his girlfriend purchasing a necklace.

"Can I help you two" A security guard was standing behind then tapping his foot with an unimpressed look. "Umm we we're just playing hide and seek" Nicole quickly stood up flashing a little bit of cleavage at him. Nicole was always pathetic at coming up with believable excuses. "I see….would you two like to play hide and seek some where else" he cracked his knuckles. "Actually no, I'm here to ring an engagement ring for my girlfriend, and that's what I'm going to do so if you don't mind I would like to do that" Aden raised his voice, Nicole could hear and feel his fury. "Mmmhhmm" The guard backed away from them with his hands crossed. "I'm buying this one…and I don't care whether you like it or not, I love it and I'm sure Belle will too" Aden grabbed out his wallet.

I just caught up with the last few chapters. I'm glad you didn't forget about the HIV. I enjoyed the funny moments especially the stuff with Geoff and Desperate Housives.

Chapter 18

Christmas had finally arrived and the Christmas spirit had taken over Summer Bay. "Tis the season to be jolly...fa la la la" Jai skipped through the diner singing Christmas carols, he loved to draw attention to himself. "Oh love, would you please take it down a notch" Irene was busily waiting tables lugging out several plates at a time. Irene and Roman had organised a Christmas breakfast starting from 7-10am. Afterwards Irene would be free to go home and spend the day with Annie and David (Irene's husband). Aden, Belle Nicole and Geoff agreed that they would spend the day together at home. They also made a pact that they had to wait until 11:00 before they could open their presents, giving Belle plenty of time to sleep in. Belle always slept in, on days that she didn't work she wouldn't get of out bed until 11:30. "Morning sleeping beauty" Belle rolled over to see Aden smiling at her, looking half asleep. "What time is it" Belle said grumpily. "10:45 love" he said as his eye lids closed, "Well why did you say its time to wake up! It's not bloody time to wake up" Belle said a little louder with an anger tone. "Belle, are you feeling alright?" As soon as Aden asked she responded by hitting him with a pillow in the face. "Ouch, what did you do that for?" he asked pushing the pillow out of his face. "Leave me alone....." Belle mumbled into her pillow. "Okay...Well I'm going to make some breakfast, would you like me to bring you something" Aden asked carefully not wanting to trigger another mood swing. He thought to him "those hormones must be kicking in". Belle's stomach rumbled "Yeah....can you make me a sandwich with peanut butter and strawberry jam with nuttella" Aden was getting out of bed when he turned to her and said with a shocked look "You want me to - what" She looked at him and frowned "Look if you don't want to make it I'll do it myself..geez" She looked at him as if the whole concept one the sandwich wasn't such a stupid combination. Aden didn't bother arguing with her after all she was under enough stress already. "Sure sweetheart I'll make it, for you" he flashed a comforting smile, but Belle just rolled her eyes.

"Is it time to open the presents???" Nicole yelled filling the room with her voice. Geoff was sitting directly in front of her at the table. "Nic, just wait for Belle" he said chomping down his toast. "Arghhh...pregnant lady of the house...get your butt down here!" she yelled again addressing the upstairs bedroom. "I'm coming! Just hold on...." Belle yelled back. "Plastic little spastic" she mumbled under her breath, as much as she loved Nicole like a sister sometimes she was too irritating to tolerant. Belle dragged herself down the stairs, her mood hadn't lifted being pregnant wasn't as glamorous as she thought it would be, a few days ago Belle had a realization it finally hit her that she was going to gain weight and she would no longer be the perfect body size in her mind. She was afraid that Aden might not find her attractive once she gained more weight. Nicole and Geoff were patiently waiting around the Christmas tree eager to open the presents. Aden was in the kitchen pouring a glass of juice. As he caught Belle's eye he smiled nervously and thankfully his girlfriend smiled back. "Belle are you alright...you look a little pale" Geoff being the good Samarian he was asked concernedly. Belle nodded and then bent down onto her knees. "Is everybody ready" Aden said as he sat down next to Belle. "YES!" Nicole said loudly and then let out a deep breath. "Here Aden open yours" Belle passed the gift to him smiling awaiting his reaction, Nicole and Aden exchanged looks as Belle passed it. "I wonder what it could be..." He looked at Belle lovingly. He shook it gently with his ear up against the gift wrapped box. He started unwrapping it all he could think about is how he should react when he already knew what she had gotten him. "Oh my god...this is so cool. I love it Belle, thank you so much" he leaned forward and kissed her lips. "I'm glad you like it" Belle said with a cheerful voice, she was finally feeling a little bit better. "I never would have guess, a necklace" he laughed quickly glancing at Nicole for a spilt second. Nicole avoided his eye contact as much as possible, feeling guilty that she also knew what Belle had gotten Aden. Both of them didn't expose the shameful truth. Belle opened Aden's present. He gave her a beautiful bracelet with a locket. "Thank you its gorgeous" to show her appreciation Belle gave him several kisses on the lips. Nicole received a Gucci handbag and wallet from Geoff as well as a friendship ring. Nicole bought Geoff 2 t-shirts and 2 boardies. "Wait, I have one last present for you" Aden surprised Belle. "What really?" Stunned she looked around the Christmas tree noticing there were no more presents left. "Here.." Aden opened a blue velvet bocx up. "Aden" she placed a hand covering her mouth. "It's a promise ring" As Belle heard the word promise her smile faded, she thought it was an engagement ring. "Belle..." he slid the ring onto her finger. "I promise I will always be yours...." Belle looked slightly confused at him. "This ring symbolizes my love for you..." Belle felt appreciative for the ring but couldn't help but feel disappointed "I thought you were proposing" Belle spoke up. "What, proposing no! Why would I need to do that marriage is so over rated...why bother getting married" Aden wanted Belle to believe that he wasn't into marriage so when he did propose it would come at a complete shock.

"To recognize our love for one another, to legally be husband and wife.....I can't believe that you don't want to even consider proclaiming our love for one another.....we're having two children don't you think they want their mummy and daddy to be married!" Belle stormed up the stairs.

"Belle....that's what a promise ring is for!" he called out to her. "Yeah whatever you idiot!" Geoff was the only one besides Belle who didn't know that Aden was planning on asking her to marry him on New Years. After their heated argument Geoff glared at him confused."I'm asking her to marry me....don't worry bible boy" Geoff smiled realizing what was going on. Nicole giggled quietly to herself. "I HATE YOU ADEN JEFFERIES!" she slammed the bathroom door. "Love you too babe" Aden yelled back at her laughing. "Well this has been a spectacular Christmas day" Nicole said sarcastically. "Yeah I think Belle is the one who has enjoyed herself the most today" Geoff added sarcastically."Belle will get over it....tonight she'll be begging for some lovin" Aden said with a grin on his face. He knew that she was mad and him and probably hurt and upset but he knew that once she found out that he wanted to marry her she'll be delighted. "Mhmmm..you know what happens when girls get pregnant their sex drive increases!" Nicole pointed out to Aden. "Really....hey Nic.....do you want to have kids any time soon?" Geoff asked cheekily. "You wish" she slapped him playfully on the shoulder.
