cicerid Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 What a great thread! I've only just found it and, being one of the oldies, I am going to post. I have two children aged 8 and 5 (both boys) and gave up my full-time job 2 years ago because I worked in banking and a worklife balance was basically impossible. While I've enjoyed being a full-time mum more than I thought I would, I feel it is now time to go back to some kind of job - looking after the kids is very rewarding but I feel like I'm missing something, some kind of sense of achievement which goes beyond my children. They will grow up one day and I don't want to find myself a bit "lost". I am sure many of you will understand what I'm talking about. Hence, my new year's resolution is to try and find a part-time job. I already had an interview today so am keeping my fingers crossed. It's not going to be as glamorous as my previous job but my children are now my priority and if I want some flexible job I know I have to compromise. Sorry for going on and on about this but some of you in this thread might relate to what I'm talking about. Have a great 2009, all of you and good luck to you and your daughter claire-b!
Lesley Bee Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Yes Claire i hop everything goes well with your daughter Happy New Year everyone hope you all have a happy and safe 2009
Miranda Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Good evening all. Hope you all had a nice Christmas. We had a nice quiet one and are much more rested. Daughter is so jolly now she feels better, she is bouncing around happily [not right now though as she is cutely sleeping]. I feel like I re-connected with a lot of my friends and feel much more supported. I have really got into finding out about my family tree, and have traced my great great grandma who was born in 1851. I have hit a wall though and need to get hold of a copy of her marriage certificate, which I will have to pay for, so that will have to wait til we have more money. I want to find out about her though, because she was apparently a serving girl who was made pregnant by some lord of the manor, and my great grandad was the result, so there is some scandal waiting to be discovered 1851 is not that far in the past, I'd like to get much further back really
Lesley Bee Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 ^ That sounds interesting Miranda, i wish you luck with that, it would really interesting to do Im glad you're feeling better about things as well
Mrs Bishop Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Good to see your on the up Miranda and feeling positive once again, its a dear game searching your family tree but good kuck to you.
claire-b Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Thanks everyone but my daughter is fine, she is dealing with the cast very well. They said kids adapt well & they were right, she sits there in her wheelchair having me running round like an idiot. Carrying her up & down the stairs is playing havoc with my back though. Been on the scales this morning & had a shock, put on a few more pounds than I thought so ive been to the garage & got the exercise bike out & thrown out all the left over xmas chocs, diet start now. I wish I was one of those people who could eat anything & not put on weight. Oh well I know I will feel better in a few weeks.
Lesley Bee Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 ^ Yeah i know how you feel Claire, im one of those people who only needs to look at chocolate and i put on weight Im determined to lose weight this year, out go the crisps, chocolate and fizzy drinks and in come s the Water, fruit and veg. I must admit its going to be really hard but i have to stick to it this time i just want to feel healthier and more energetic
claire-b Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 We can do it mrs baker. Like you say it will be hard but we just have to think how much happier we will be once the pounds start falling off. If im at home & tempted to eat something naughty I will just come on here to take my mind of it & see how that works cos usually once I get on here im on for hours.
Mrs Bishop Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 What was with the crisps you were giving to me New Years eve thats not a diet tut tut Lesley.
